Hi Selena, First, I'd like to thank you for the beautiful free pattern & tutorial. I think you did very well for your first tutorial. I'd like to suggest that you let us know your height, & the total finished length, size is also good ( I believe you said it was a small). The hat was a wonderful touch. Thanks again. Since you did so a good job on both pieces, it would've been nice to see it being worn. Looking forward to your next tutorial. Don't second guess. Which stitch did you use??
This looks like c2c or corner to corner crochet stitch.
Corner to corner is the direction that you crochet. It’s not the stitch
To me that’s a double crochet and then a single crochet- dog tooth- pretty convinced 🏴

How much yarn do you need to make the project?
Let me suggest that you purchase a Lion Brand pound of Love, it's better & more cost effective (especially when it's on sale ) to have more than you need as opposed to not enough.

I go slow because I care about how each stitch looks. If I was doing a loose gauge sweater then I wouldn’t care as much
Honestly, it just takes time and practice. 💗 If you’re unfamiliar with crocheting and knitting, but want to learn, try out both and see what you feel best doing, and then stick with it. I’ve been crocheting for about 27 years, and I’ve learned that usually, you will be good at one or the other, you just have to find out which works for you. For me, it’s crochet. I took to it naturally, and I find it relaxing and fun. But knitting… not so much. It just makes angry, LOL. I’m in awe, and envious, of the rare individuals who are really good at both! I’m hoping to get better at knitting before I die, lol. But if not, I’ve still got crochet! 💗
