@@gavinevans1687 See, that’s where I differ. I’m fine with his death, but the manner in which it was executed was simply too difficult to bear. It didn’t feel like a fitting conclusion for his character at all. I believe they could have handled it in a vastly different and more gradual manner, as I mentioned, which would have left a more positive impression on viewers. In fact, several people in my feed were deeply disturbed by the scene, and many even walked out of the theater afterward. I think the abrupt and disturbing ending left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth. In fact, I even found myself rooting for Harley Quinn to commit suicide at one point in the movie. I’ve always felt that the movie was overly bleak and depressing at times, and there weren’t really any genuine positive moments for the characters. I understand that many people would argue that this is what one should expect from a movie like The Joker, but I believe that good and bad elements should be balanced in a film, and I just don’t feel that there were enough positive moments for the characters. They could have concluded the movie on a more uplifting note.

I was shocked when every review for Joker: Folie à Deux came out negative, but after seeing it, I can understand why-especially when it comes to the ending. To start, every other part of this sequel is decent, although it’s a bit of a departure, taking on the feel of a love story musical. While Joaquin Phoenix delivers a compelling performance, and Lady Gaga might just be the best Harley Quinn I’ve ever seen, the movie’s heavy emphasis on dreamlike, musical sequences between Phoenix and Gaga caught a lot of people off guard. They spend a significant part of the film singing to each other, creating a surreal and often romantic atmosphere that’s not what many fans were expecting. But while I didn’t mind the musical direction, the film’s real downfall lies in its brutal ending. Without giving anything away, it’s extremely graphic and feels so unnecessarily gruesome that it leaves a bad taste after an otherwise decent experience. It’s uncomfortable to watch and definitely not suitable for younger viewers. If you’re planning to see Joker: Folie à Deux, go in with an open mind. There’s a lot to appreciate, especially in the acting and musical approach, but prepare yourself-the ending is intense and could be off-putting for some.

But any film critic, buff, geek and viewer that likes widely acclaimed popular movies like the lord of the rings and godfather trilogies, casablanca, gone with the wind, Schindlers list, no country for old men, jaws ETC, ETC , ETC can also like some big dumb fun action movies from Michael bay and Roland emmerich, but would any of them tolerate a single transformers sequal ( which dark of the moon is the closest to a good one ) because I see some review it on rotten tomatoes negatively and I can understand the flaws of the cringe inducing moments with human charachters, cringey dialogue. Is it among the most embarrassing films ever belonging to if there were movies so spectacular in their stupidity they might not be even considered real movies because of how unpleasant and cringe inducing to watch they are such has been the case with Freddy got fingered, and disaster movie when there’s nothing happening expect meaningless nonsense.

I don’t think it’s the best since it’s still one of the sequals in which many to most critics gave negative reviews calling it lifeless and stupid but I would say it’s the best out of the four sequals that came after the 2007 film ( which is the true best in the franchise because of it having emotional impact, dramatic tension, intelligence and compelling charachters ) dark of the moon has impressive graphics and special effects on the robots and I love the way Optimus prime is depicted but there is still inane human moments with pointless charachters that don’t need to be shown much in the film and should have just been used as cameos also why did they have that scene with Ken jeong raping and wanking Sam labeouf in the bathroom it was just masturbating. That’s why it still has a weak script. The later part is better than the first half but it still isn’t that good and while I assume this wasn’t as critically panned as the 2nd, 4th and 5th films I still hear some negative things about it such as some rotten tomatoes reviews calling it souless, stupid and unpleasent. I hope the critics who gave it bad reviews trashing it don’t have anything against Michael bay and that they like some of his other films outside of transformers he is not the antichrist why did that idiot from New York post say that. Apparantley the origianl cut of this movie was around 3hrs and had to be cut down from the studio. Hopefully a directors cut may be released in the future. I think the best thing they could of done with this story is either give it a 2 part theatrical release like ‘IT’ or made it a series. I would recommend reading the book, as that is such a great story which gets cut alot from all of the adaptions.

Unpopular opinion: Madagascar 2 is overrated, and actually the worst one in the franchise. I just find a LOT of problems with this movie: 1- It's a King Lion rip-off. 2- Makunga's a pathetic lazy Scar wannabe, a pretty shitty unfunny villain overall. 3- Such a done-to-death, derivative ''son wants to be a perfomer while dad wants him to be a bruiser'' cliche-y plot. How original is it... 4- Zuba's a major idiot who basically caused his own problems. Everything was honestly his fault, not Alex's. And he never even gets recognized neither apologizes for this at the end. 5- Marty's unlikable in this one, his plot with the zebras was senseless, irrelevant to the rest, and I did side with Alex over him. Their fight is so stupid compared to the first one, and I didn't got emotional at all, I was just MAD at it. 6- Numerous retcons and continuity errors (Melman's crush on Gloria not existing on the first one, just propping out nowhere in this one. Alex's mark bith wasn't there in the original movie, and he never danced before too). 7- The worst of all is the plothole: why didn't the lions never eat the other animals in this movie? They just forget all the predator-prey drama and conflict in the first one? Why the lions seems to be friends with their prey, contrary to what was showed in the original movie??? MASSIVE PLOTHOLE. Nana, the Penguims and MotoMoto are actually pretty funny, and the positive points for me... they SAVE this movie for me. Madagascar 1 and 3 aren't perfect either, but they are a lot better than 2.

I don't agree.... 1. Makunga using Alex to get into a position of power is the only similarity and it's such a small part of the movie that it doesn't bother me at all. 2. Fair. But his purpose is to create conflict between Alex and his dad and I think he did that well enough. 3. What other movie is that in? I don't think it's been done to death. Makes sense for Alex since he is a performer. 4. He did create his own problems, and he wishes his son was different but he comes to accept him for who he is by the end. Him dancing with Alex is the character arc for him. 5. I love this conflict. Marty got what he wanted, he's in the wild and now he's like every other zebra. There's nothing unique about him, and even his best friend couldn't tell him apart. It's good drama to me. 6. Alex dancing as part of his routine makes perfect sense. Those other issues are just nitpicks to me, they don't impact my viewing experience. 7. Because it's an animated movie with talking animals, they can create their own rules here. But to each their own. Thank you for watching and commenting!

@@gavinevans1687 1- I don't like this plot, they could have been more unique. The first movie have a more original plot and theme (original for its time at least), so the sequel was disappointing for me for being partly a rip-off of another famous movie. They could have used a more unique, new idea. The third movie at least don't tried to borrow his ideas from other movie, and tried to be his own indentity. 2- I honestly think the plot DON'T needed Makunga at all, Zuba and Alex's conflict could perfectly happen without him honestly. Zuba would find about his son dancing sooner or later regardless of any scam. Makunga is just there as a plot device and a really bad Scar copycat. 3- Ferdinand, High School Musical, Jump In, I Now Prounounce you Chuck & Larry, Billy Elliot... I can think of DOZENS of movies with this basic plot. Heck, even How to Train your Dragon has a similar idea and development. Madagascar 2 is nothing special in this aspect. 4- The problem with Zuba is that he KNOWS Makunga wants the throne, he was defying him for years, clearly has no respect for him, even calls his son of pathetic in his face... why didn't him kick him out a long time? Everything could have been avoided if he had banished him all these years! But no, he lets him around and basically let him proceed with his scams. And however Alex's the one who takes the blame. Zuba still have the nerve of blaming Alex for what happened and never recognize his questionable judgement. The movie itself treats the misfortune as being Alex's and only Alex's fault, so he's the one who suffers and struggle to fix everything in the ending. The way how Alex is unfarly blamed for everything just rubs me the wrong way. He was just a victim and a scapegoat in this movie. 5- I really dislike this plot, I honestly think MARTY was being selfish and insensitive here, not Alex. I think MARTY should have apologized, not Alex. We're supposed to see Alex as being in the wrong, but I honestly agreed with Alex when he said ''his problems are bigger than Marty's''. Alex was humilliated, banished from his pride, and nearly disowned by his father, everything against Marty's indentity crisis. It's disproportional, and I think their conflict was a lot better and more touching in the first movie. 6- Melman's crush on Gloria wasn't there in the first movie (really not at all, you can re-watch the entire first movie again and see that has NO sign he liked her back there at all), but then in this sequel he likes her since he was a little giraffle (sidenote: I honestly think they're too sacharine, their scenes are much sappy for my liking). In the first movie, Alex DIDN'T have a birth mark on his pawn and he never danced. Like, at what moment or time in the first one Alex ever danced? From what we seen, he just posed and roared for his audiences. This was his performance in the original movie: posing and roaring and that's it. They just invented he dance for this sequel, so his conflict with his dad could make sense. It's called RETCONS. 7- In the first movie Alex was a carnivore, a apex predator and his friends are herbivores and prey, and that was a conflict source. Food chain DO exist in this universe. They just want us to believe all animals, predators and prey, live with other peacefully and get along just well, after the first movie was LITERALLY about Alex figuring out he was a predator and a danger for his friends?? How come the food chain, that was just the MOST important thing in the first movie, was just throw out of the window and never addressed? Why all that zebras seem fine with Marty being best friend with their natural predator for example? This don't sound as a MAJOR plothole and inconsistency for you? I don't hate Madagascar 2, but I do think it's a bit too flawed to be great, and honestly the weakest in the franchise. This movie is just eeh for me.

@@gavinevans1687 I don't hate or dislike Madagascar 2, it's funny and all, I just think it's a little too flawed to be great in fact. And a bit overrated, especifically cause people usually just point out and highlights it's positive points, no one of its negative ones. And another thing about Zuba... in the first scene, he dind't even defend his cub son from Makunga's insulting! This jerkass calls his child of PATHETIC in his face, and he didn't asnswer in any way!! Like, dude, this guy just insulted your son this way, you won't say a word? This also rubs me the wrong way too. Yeah I agree, Alex was selfish and self-important in the first movie. Of course he was. If this argument and dialogue had happened in the first movie, I'd have agreed with Marty. Cause Alex WAS in the wrong in 1. The sequel is a completely different story for me. Unlike the first movie, I can't really say Alex was being selfish here, because his problem WAS bigger than Marty's here indeed: humillation, banishment, and disownment. And Marty was just being whiny and overreacting about not being unique anymore while a narcissistic bad lion would take the kindgon and affect all animals. But yeah, it's what I think. It's just a different point of view. Thanks.

100% agree. It is a very poorly made film with huge story issues and plot holes. Still, that Heath Ledger performance is phenomenal. It's a far better Joker film than it is a Batman film. Im really not a fan of a lot of Batman's dialogue in the movie and he feels like a background character in his own film. Plus one major issue I have with all three Nolan films is that he seemingly cant film a coherent action sequence, unless it involves the Batmobile. All the fighting scenes look like a confusing blurry mess. I find it especially annoying because I know that Nolan is absolutely capable of stunning visual action sequences and just missed the mark with these films.

Your reasons are understandable and communicated well. However, I have to disagree. The characters aren't the most complex but I found I find them intresting in a very human way. Yes it's dark and miserable at points, but the freindship of the two main characters grounds it for me, it feels genuine and strangely pure with how straightforward and honest they can be with each other despite everything around them beeing shades of grey (figuratively and literally). The off beat humour also provides lighter moments to contrast the super dark stuff throughout the movie, so I find it personally more balanced then some other harsh movies that actually do fit your "misery porn" description for me. I can definitely see why it's not for everyone though, and I appreciate hearing your opinion as its so entertainingly different from my own I enjoyed your video, and getting a different perspective!

Watched it once and it was absolute shit. There's paying homage to another work, then there's blatant ripping off entire plot threads including casting the same actors. The "twist" with Zeze's character was so ham-fisted, clichè and obvious that it was coming. In what world was it plausible. She would never have liked him. We as an audience don't even have a reason to admire him (maybe pity him because he's beaten up, but not admire). The film's message is so bland and forced, having the therapist spout "people don't give a shit about people like you Arthur" is so cheesy. In what world would a professional therapist say such drivel that makes no difference upon hearing it (unless there's a secret audience watching you as a character and you're giving heavy-handed exposition?) Then the worst bit is people excuse everything by saying "it's all his perspective". They even set the film in 1981 and reference the Chernobyl meltdown of 1986 and people excuse it as "it's Arthur's SkEweD pErSpEcTiVe". It doesn't excuse a bad film. Every film is a crew's perspective brought to life - what's your point? Just because it's the Joker's worldview I'm supposed to accept lazy writing? Top it off with Joker being a whiny incel - basically Elliot Rodger in clown makeup - with cringy dancing and behind-the-scenes "stories", such as how the composer scored the bathroom scene "before the scene was filmed" with her "imagining Phoenix was dancing" and he just *happened* to be dancing on improv when they shot it. Films generally don't compose scores without footage, they work around a visual (in rare instances, films are edited around a score - look at the final scene for E.T. - they edited that scene around the John William's music because Spielberg loved the score so much he decided to let JW do a whole track to edit around). What the composer for Joker said was absolute bollocks. The script had him go in the bathroom to clean up after the shooting and Phoenix just "improvised" the dance? If he didn't dance, why would you film such a minor moment? You don't even see a closeuo of him when he runs down the street, so you don't even need such a throwaway clip of him in the bathroom. It's just pretentious myth-making drivel to make Phoenix sound like a god when he's just a method actor (and an annoying one at that, by looks of it). The Cockney improv as if we're all a 1960s Michael-Blahdee-Caine from Austin Powers 3? (UK resident here, can't stand that cliché). Couldn't stand the film when it came out with its forced political ideology, forced "mental-health" message (oh, show the plight of those who have mental health issues only to then walk right into negative stereotype territory by making him a homicidal maniac who inspires lunacy and violence. Just paints those who really do struggle with mental health in more of a bad light). Screenwriter's formula for Joker (2019) = Taxi Driver + King of Comedy + DeNiro (GeT iT? hE wAs iN bOtH oF tHeM!) + "because mental health" + Elliot Rodger in clown makeup + The Twist from Fight Club = movie.
