I'm not sure I believe this as I use to own small sound and lighting production company. I was a sound man and lighting guy. Since I don't know the venue but if they had a side sound engineer that person would handle the sound mix in there monitors. Looks like they mostly used floor monitors and not in-ears. They are not typically influenced by the musicians to drown out other musicians etc. It's much more work if the FOH sound engineer has to mix the stage sound for the musicians. Even if it's there sound man, he wouldn't do this on purpose. Sounds like it's a deeper issue here.

Seen Peter Wolf with Kid Rock a few years ago here in Michigan.. He puts on a great show and has so much energy. He's what like 78 now? He's a sick frontman...one of the best in rock and roll.
