16 months sober and miserable. Month 11 until last month I felt great and never thought about drinking Now suddenly it’s all I can think about. At 17 months?! It feels like torture If anyone reading this can offer me some hope I would appreciate it

getting in my first car wreck destroyed my life. i fractured my spine and broke both my ankles. was laying in a bed for two months straight only to go out of the house twice in a wheelchair for emergencies. i was prescribed oxycodone and hydrocodone. while it helped stop the pain, over time i became dependent on them. when the pills ran out i started experiencing discomfort. i looked for more. started getting pressed ones off the street to “feel normal” as time went by that got to expensive and i started getting just straight up raw fentanyl. now im fucked. only existing to scheme on my next fix and keep myself well. i hate this substance with all my heart. its never worth the nod.

31 days sober and life has gotten infinitely better. Partying doesnt require drugs or alcohol. Life is so much more beatiful living it instead of escaping from it.

3 years and 1 month sober. My final solution was a combination of seeing people in an AA meeting and knowing how bad it can get and my religion (Buddhism). But im glad i didnt stick with AA. Calling yourself an alcoholic for the rest of your life is a trap - you always identify with the alcohol. But Buddhism teaches the opposite - you are not confined to any identity, let alone alcoholism, its just a bad habit with horrible consequences. I went cold turkey and have only dealt with occasional cravings but none in the last 1.5 years. Seriously, don’t fall for the AA trap and say “im an alcoholic.” you might stay sober but you’ll always still be a slave to alcohol.

This is facts...ironic tho when I first came In I did get sober for my job 99 pct of time it dnt happen like that god got me in and god has me stay 03/25/08..keep staying🙏🙏

Sober life at 25 and i too had that fear. Luckily I’ve learned to make my own fun in life and love the things I do even more now because I get to enjoy them sober and fully remember the experience :)

It takes a lot of courage. My boyfriend decided to be sober after going to jail for drunk driving. He's relapsed but now he's going to AA meetings and getting the help he needed and I couldn't be more proud of him ❤️
