Indeed it is. There are some sections that's currently getting landslide nettings installed and the upper half of the route is constantly littered with debris from trees and other vegetation no matter the weather is so it's not going to be 100% clear but I do enjoy the combination of corners and undulations even at a very leisurely pace!

For the 3+ years I've had the car so far, I average between 16-18.5 km/l in the city in mixed traffic conditions while I get between 23.5-26km/l on the expressways

Most are sourced from family members who's willing to participate in getting their cars featured. I do personally own both of the Altis's featured on the channel so far. I did drop by quickly to attend the test drive festival that happend recently though I wasn't able to film any clips. Maybe next time ;)

Pretty much the same experience for the Zenix Hybrid and Rav4 Hybrid. The engine sound intrudes the cabin durin hard acceleration although for the most part I wouldn't even notice it that much as I try to minimize the usage of the gasoline engine. The thing that I want to highlight that the transition from the electric motor to the gasoline engine is exceptionally smooth, no vibrations whatsoever. Thanks for watching!

Managed to see the refreshed highest spec of the non-hybrid Altis last October 2023 also at Toyota Alabang while our Altis GRS was having its 2nd PMS in the maintenance bay below. I agree with you on your conclusion in regards to the things TMP has done... The positive: - Gained a new colour: Metal Stream Metallic like the one on our Corolla Cross Hybrid. - An update rim design - It now has the 2ZR-FE 1.8 liter -It now has a sport button beside the traction control button. Ours doesn't have a sport button yet. The not so good: - The chunky looking rear of the head unit is back. I prefer the slim floating screen design layout on ours. Even though the screen grew to 9 inches, I would honestly go for the older 8 inch slim design. - Halogen headlights. It's great na full led ang taillights though I would wish that they left the LED headlight like on the previous V model. The agents told me back then that this is just simply a G trim that was dressed up to look like the no discontinued 1.6V GRS. They also left it as Halogens as to balnace out the price. The engine got bigger and if they retained the LED headlights, the price would definitely increase as each headlight (left and right) costs 50K each... TMP would want the proce point of the GRS non-hybrid to remain in the 1.3M region. - More piano black trim. The window control region for all corners of the interior is now in piano black. I honestly don't like piano black as it is a hell to maintain and to prevent scratches and fingerprints from accumulating. The one on ours is in a textured matte black material so it's one less thing to worry about. All in all it's a mixed bag of emotions for me. I'm okay with the added bits but a little bit disappointed with the others. It also saddened me that the Altis model line in our market is slowly dying... When we got our 2011 Altis, there there were 5 models offer from the base 1.6E manual to the top of the line 2.0V. How times have changed since then. Thanks for watching!

@@DRIVEN_POV Yeah parang may mga trade-offs kumbaga. Anyways another question: Sumasayad din ba ang Corolla Altis sa mga bako and sa mga mababang lugar? We currently have a 2013 Toyota Camry 2.5G (yung XV50 generation). There are many instances na sumasayad sya sa mga gutter (e.g. yung papasok sa Molito Alabang and pati na rin sa entry ramp heading to Abensons Estrelita). Low Clearance din ba yung Corolla Altis GR Sport mo?

​@@blackcyborg009Based on my experience, hindi pa kami sumasayad so far like yung matataas na humps along the friendship route, it cleared them naman. It in fact has the same ground clearance as our 2011 Altis (plus or minus a few millimetres). The protrusion of the front chin as well as the driver seating is 25mm lower than the previous generations of the Altis, it honestly just gives the illusion of the car being lower than it actually is. Pero dun sa mga matataas na gutter and steep ramps, nagshe-siyete parin ako just to be extra safe. When the car had its first long drive to Lucena City via the scenic and twisty roads of Majayjay-Lucban Road, it honestly exceeded my expectations where the car is pretty planted and corners very well thanks to its GR tuned suspension. It soaked up the road irregularities sa Star Tollway in an acceptable manner, not the best due to it being a sport tuned suspension after all but reasonably acceptable nonetheless. In regards to the second question naman. I did consider getting the Mazda 3 Sedan for its tech and its 6 speed torque converter automatic. I too had some reservations in regards to the overall price of upkeep and labor and if I went with the Mazda, it'll be uncharted waters as our family owned Toyota cars from the very beginning, but I digress. The CX-30 is an overall great package for the price compared sa mga direct competitor crossovers in the market. The only thing I'm not fond of sub-compact and compact crossovers is the rear seat legroom. I'm 6ft. flat and I'm uncomfortable sitting at the back of our Corolla Cross on long trips. Even our 2011 Altis has a tad better legroom while the GRS has a fist worth more legroom. I had similar experiences in the vehicles of some of my friends such as the Geely Coolray, the older Ford Territory, MG HS, and a Toyota Raize.

​@@DRIVEN_POV Interesting take. Personally, our family currently owns a Toyota Camry 2.5G (it was a gift from my uncle to my Grandma back in 2013). Oks naman sya, runs well with minimal headache. But yeah, medyo sumasayad sya (like yung gutter papasok sa Molito Alabang). We are heavily considering Toyota Innova Hybrid Q. Based sa current wait time, two months lang ang queue time kay Toyota Alabang for Innova Hybrid Q.

Here's a realistic breakdown of the usage between internal combustion engine and the electric motor: - 85% of the time the engine and the electric motor works in tandem to run the car. There are conditions that must be met for this situation to occur: a. The speed is above 40km/h. The car runs purely on electricity when at speeds below 40km/h. The engine will turn on when 41km/h and higher is met. b. when the battery power runs out, the engine will now be the one powering the car, just like a regular car, and at the same time the engine is sending power to the batteries for it to charge them. The engine will then power off once a sufficient quantity of power is charged into the batteries. It's a continuous cycle but the transition between the engine and electric motor is very seamless that you wouldn't feel any vibration. Just the sound of the engine turning on and off. - 10% of the time, the car will run on electric mode. Just like what's mentioned above, the threshold speed between 0km/h to 40km/h, the car will run on battery power. When the battery power runs out, the engine will turn on to power the wheel to provide propulsion while at the same time charging the batteries. It'll power off when sufficient percentage of power is charged into the batteries. One thing to add is when the car is moving and you coast, battery power is being brought back into the batteries. The same goes for braking, power is brought back into the batteries thus preventing wastage of energy. - The remaining 5% is the enabling of running the car in full EV mode. To enable full EV mode, the following conditions must be met: a. if the "EV" button is pressed. It is located near the shifter and it's beside the drive mode selector. b. if condition (a.) is not possible, the car will emitt a buzzer and will display on the gauge cluster "Low battery levels, EV mode not possible". It is only possible to enable full EV mode when the battery meter displays that the battery is at full capacity. Here's how I achieve full EV: I let the car carry momentum and coast when there's a downward slope. If the slop is as steep, let's say Ligaya Drive going down to Batangas, you could shift the car into "B" ,which is below "D", to enable fast charging. It'll allow maximum power regeneration when the car is traversing steep slope thus achieving a full battery meter. Do not worry if the battery meter is full yet power is still being delivered to it, as the car will isolate the battery from power sources to avoid over charging. Now once the battery meter display is full, you can press the "EV" button to drive in full EV mode without the engine kicking in. Here's a thing to note about using full EV mode, it is only applicable up to 40km/h and it's only possible to drive it for 10kms in full EV mode. Don't let that bum you out though because the car wasn't designed to be an EV anyway. Conclusion: - Overall the car aims to drive with the engine off. It tries its best to not rely on the engine for propulsion and it does one heck of a job in doing so. - One must understand that car's driving characteristics. It's driven quite differently from a regular car. I'll admit that there's a learning curver to it but you can keep in mind all the aforementioned statements above as a reference guide. - Owning the car presented no problems for me at all ever since I took delivery in October of 2021. I highly recommend this car as you are driving the 4th Generation Toyota Hybrid System. It's a know fact that Toyota was the trailblazer when it comes to normalizing Hybrid technology for the masses. They've been doing Hybrid systems since the mid 90s well before the demand for it risen. The have decades to improve upon the system. I can confidently say that they've done a terrific job! I'm quite pleased with the car after owning it for a couple of years so far. Based on my driving habits which revolve around having a light foot, I get on average 15.7 km/l in the city and 26.5 km/l on the highway. The acceleration is adequate for what it is. It moves the car with no problems though the update 1.8 with now 140HP or even the 2.0 would be a better choice though unfortunately here in the Philippines, we only get the 1.8 with 122HP and it's not a problem for me because it's the fuel efficiency is what I'm after. The most amount of peope in this specific car only consists of only 2 adults (incl. driver) and a trunk of 2 large luggages when going out of town. It doesn't struggle at all during inclines. The 132HP and 160N/m is quite enough for our purpose
