I left 1 piston and rod assembly out to show you. rings were removed and pistons and rings cleaned and checked. 2 pistons the rings were stuck closed, that had to be addressed. I only showed you 1, because the other 7 are done the same way. This short is done.

    Not sure what your talking about a bump Oil gets splashed into the oil ring and it finds its way around. I never had a problem

    76 was the final year of heavy castings, so it was the only year of heavy casted 305 heads. They can be safely cut for1.94" intake valves, no problem.

      Not threaded, so I call it a freeze plug. Has many names especially if you forget to install it.

    so for a 600 hp sbc with .003 bearing clearance what oil do you recommend?

      I would use 10w40 for Temps between 50-80 degrees. Over that 20w50. Under 10w30

    I disagree due to the oil pressure being behind the bearing until it gets to th oil hole to feed the cam that's also lined up with the main oil feed. It can't build a wedge to fight against the valve train pressure pushing down on the cam. It's supposed to be engine upright, 10 and 2 o'clock on the front and the last four at 2 o'clock. This creates an oil wedge under the cam between it and the bearings. I have an 880 block with 15k on it and the cam bearings only have ⅓ worn out from the bottom of the bearings due to aligning them in the fashion your stating. Oddly my engine had really good oil pressure but it's an aftermarket hp pump. Pulled the cam and lifters to inspect them when I noticed the bearings worn on the bottom side.

      Your 1 video , that motor sounds awesome. 305 really, cool. Everyone has cam bearing install preferences, i have never had wear on a cam bearing even at 200,000 miles. Last sbc i drove to 310,000, motor was great trans started slipping due to not enough fluid changes, my fault. Again that 305 sounds awesone

      For the tip, there is a micrometer you turn in, and the face has a large wheel with a micrometer on it. Very precise

    You may want to check a little closer ,that bearing is supposed to be at 8 o'clock with the block upside-down and that would make it 2 o'clock with the block right side up

    Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. :-(

      @@enginebuilder7393 Biggest problem is China, China told our EU politicians that they wont do any business with underdeveloped countries that still allow CO2 emitting traffic or industry after 2030...I am sure USA and UK also will be forced by China to 100% electric traffic because today no industrialized country can afford sanctions by China....:-( China also banned all kind of synthetic fuels or hydrogen combustion. Because these are not energy efficient)

      It comes in the tool kit with the boring bar. Each boring bar comes with a tool kit. The tool holder holds a tool bit with 3 angles on it. That bit cuts the bore.

    This is a pretty neat unit, looks like it is a stand alone machine and not mounted on a milling table? What are you using for fixturing to ensure 90 degree crank to cylinder bore reference?

    I'd love to buy one but they're so expensive here in the UK that it would take 3 years to pay for itself. I'm thinking I might be able to use my Bridgeport milling machine if I make a really solid boring attachment. I mainly work on british motorcycles so nothing too big.

      Probably not worth much. Most people think you need top of the line equipment to get a good job. Mine cuts straight as an arrow. The fluid pump is a little weak, but it does a great job.

    I always adjust the fingers once the cutter is down into the bore it'll stabilize the bar to the bore

    do gm make a 350 engine that’s already clearance for a 383 crankshaft? I brought a 383 Stroker but the block has not been clearance for the crank. Block # 10066036. Can’t find the casting number on the crank.

      If you purchase a GM 383 block or engine it will be clearanced. If you are using a stock GM block it will have to be clearanced. Thanks
