World Voyage 2023: QM2 overtakes QV en route to Southampton
QM2 is returning early to Southampton at the end of the 2023 World Voyage - at 22.8 knots, we overtook QV off the coast of Spain on April 21st.

Ever since I heard that Kilauea was erupting again, I was hoping to get to Hawaii to see the spectacle for myself. 175th Anniversary Crossing QM2: Halifax Sailaway

Queen Mary 2 leaves Halifax, the birthplace of Samuel Cunard, on the 175th anniversary of Cunard's first Transatlantic crossing, accompanied by Theodore Tug Boat. This is the same video that I uploaded previously, but the audio had been muted due to copyright issues.
How to Nearly Miss Queen Victoria in Bermuda

On the Queen Victoria 2017 World Voyage we were about to set sail from Bermuda, and the gangway had been taken in, when 2 missing passengers arrived on a bus and ran down the pier to the ship. Luckily the gangway was put out again, and after a talking to by an officer, the 2 lucky passengers were able to board the ship, and off we sailed! www.whereissafarigal.wordpress.com

This is the movie that goes with my blog - www.whereissafarigal.wordpress.com. It was filmed in Kruger National Park out of the window of an old shaky Toyota Corolla, or the back of my brother in law's van, so I apologize for the quality of the movie. However, the animals are the stars, and they all played their parts extremely well. The skottle cooks also did a great job too!

A Day out on the Waverley

Waverley is the last sea-going paddle steamer in the world. A day trip on her is quite a treat. The music may not be entirely appropriate, we weren't on Loch Lomond, but I love those two songs!

Although all of the sailaways were fantastic, dolphins, whales, and a lost sail boat all made for an interesting and unique crossing.

She was a fantastically beautiful and elegant ship ! A great addition to the list of legendary Cunard ocean liners !! I’m so glad she was saved from the scrapyards , and is now safely permanently moored in Dubai as a hotel and tourist attraction!! Long Live the QE2 !!!
What a incredibly awe inspiring sound ! I wonder how many of the viewers of this great short know , as you and I do , that one of the horns on QM2 ‘s funnel is an original 1936 horn on loan from the first Queen Mary now docked in Long Beach, California?!? Thank You for the wonderful video !!!

If the Cunard Queens are the most elegant and classy looking vessels in the world, imagine in which sorry state the world of passenger vessels is. 90 years ago they wouldn't even have been considered vessels, they would have been considered floating shoeboxes, for how ugly they would have been compared to the passenger ships of the time.
What magnificent creations of man's skill and hard work...truly a testament to our brother's across the pond...
The QE2 imo had the sweeter sound, not to take away thing from the QM2 which was just as magnificent!!!! Love them both!!!!!

It’s not even a competition, these horns wailing. It’s a glorious salute from one sister to another! Gives me shivers, these two. Long live the ships of Cunard. ❤️❤️❤️
Where is QE2 now?
She is a floating hotel in Dubai. We have stayed there a couple of times, and although I would much rather be on her for a transatlantic crossing, I think the owners have done a fairly good job preserving her as a hotel.

My 2 favorite ships in the world!!! I love how QE2's reverbs so much...brings back so many good memories!!! She still shows her "daughter" ship who the Queen of the Seas is and always will be!!!
When QE2 got that reverb going, there was no stopping that whistle. What I wouldn't give to hear it once again.....

Grrrrrrr! When I made the video I put together the perfect soundtrack I thought. I also thought it was a good way to showcase the music I chose. But the copywrite people for two of the songs clearly didn't think so, and had the video muted :(. I redid it after removing those songs and replacing them, and uploaded the new movie at th-cam.com/users/edit?o=U&ar=2&video_id=pJa6AoejFAc.

This video could have been taken from any ship as there is no evidence that the Video maker was on board the Queen Mary.
Yes indeed it could have been taken from any ship. However, the superstructure of the bridge and observation deck, and the position of the lifeboats are unique to QM2. As is her whistle. I was really trying to capture the beauty of sailing into New York on a beautiful morning, and the greeting by the John H Harvey, rather than capture the beauty of QM2 herself.
@@samuels5731 Well i sailed that sailing also and its 100% as i remember the sailing into the Hudson that morning, think i must have being close by to where this video was recorded

sure, take a perfectly good video and ruin it with stupid music
Alas when I was editing the movie I realized that the original sound track consisted mainly of me coughing and sneezing and my husband yelling at his camera and snapping photos. Nasty. Without the sound the movie seemed very soporific and bland, so I added the music, hoping that if viewers didn't like it they could always mute the video.
safarigal ok great reasons and reason. So don't I feel like an ass lol. I think we'd all still rather hear the reality instead and optionally mute that. Unless it's stuff you don't want us to hear, then that's personal and obviously up to you. ;)
These images would appear to show a much more sea worthy ship than the QE2. The same footage taken from Queen Mary 2 shows the QE2 pitching quite dramatically in what appears no more than a moderate sea. Having said that it is undeniable that QE2 has survived some horrendous conditions throughout her 39 years of service.
We did pitch a wee bit, but the crossing was actually remarkably smooth. Both QE2 and Qm2 ride the waves well :)
@@samuels5731 Also, the weather was not the same throughout - from memory, it improved and eventually the external pool was opened.
The sound track was removed due to my inclusion of 2 of Mike Oldfield's tracks from his QE2 CD. Although I love this CD, and feel that the music was very appropriate, I have removed those tracks and changed the sound track. I have republished the video at th-cam.com/video/pJa6AoejFAc/w-d-xo.html .

Agree abut the sound was on top deck on 18th Sept 1989 right behind the funnel when we went into dense fog ahead of what turned out to be Hurricane Hugo ahead a friend had their video camera running nearly blasted our ear drums out ! wonderful very moving, not to put too fine a point on it, she saved the lives of all those on board! x

It is still my totally favorite sound! I love QM2, but nothing compares to our good old QE2 :)
