Lie-Nielsen VS Stanley Sweetheart 750
มุมมอง 95K6 ปีที่แล้ว
I show some of the differences between the Lie-Nielsen and the Stanley 750 chisels .Update I cannot recommend the Sweetheart's. No matter the edge angle, the steel continues to fracture at the slightest impact.

A dedicated sharpening station with storage for all of your stones and guides, plus a bonus water feature! Is this the ultimate Sharpening Station? It is for me!

Tormek BGM-100 modification
มุมมอง 50K8 ปีที่แล้ว
I show you how to adapt the Tormek BGM-100 so you can use the Tormek DB22 drill sharpener your bench grinder.
very nice, i like your set up in the shop as well.
I'm curious why the barrel has a shoulder on it, as it looks like it serves no purpose.
Very nice project . I am looking for designs I am going to build a log one than a modern one like yours . It will make a good sales prop for my bushcraft and mining
Any plans avaliable?
I just bought a xtool s1 laser and it is on the way. I saw you burn your holster with your laser. I have struggled to find a video on that, what software are you running, and can you scan your holster patterns in and burn them to scale without having to manipulate them? By the way I really like the air pump on your press that is a great idea.
I used the basic software that came with the laser. - BUT- most of my patterns were made in Adobe illustrator and converted to a DXF file . I never found a good way to do things where I wasn't manipulating things. I just had too many patterns and graphics. Im sure it can be done but I was winging it.

Boa noite meu amigo. Qual a medida dele no comprimento?
Absolutely amazing work!!!
This is an absolutely ridiculous comparison. You are comparing $750 worth of chisels to $70 worth of chisels.
You don't need to remove the ejector.
very nice
You are truly an amazing craftsman! I wish I had the skill and ability to build one with your design. I would definitely buy one if you ever had one for sale. Thank you for your video!
Thank you for the kind words!
I believe LN shouldn't be compared in a demonstration with these Stanley chisels. Even the old Stanley's I sold every one I owned because the backs were crooked, bent and warped. I was told to just flatten an inch of the back on them and did that for several years. Big mistake on them Stanley chisels I made. 🎉 I wish I'd gotten involved in LN 25 years ago. Thanks
It wasn't my intent to do an apples to apples comparison. At the time there were a lot of "reviews" trying to say they were comparable. I did my best to just show the differences and hopefully explain why the LN were worth the extra money. Thanks for watching.
What’s up guys.🍪
Nice holster. Skulls are of the devil.
A red neck is a white man working under the sun.
I hear that if you move lower in bevel and use with hard wood that will be a common issue with any chisel.
Nice Job!
Well done! Solid solution! It amazes me that Tormek charges $62 for JUST the base part you replaced on the BGM-100!
why would you put a fancy design on an inside the waist holster, looks like a quality job tho
Great review, thanks much. Would you happen to have used some older vintage Stanley 750's or 720's to compare with these new ones?? Or even the Narex Richter Chisels?? Thanks
Hi Nathan, I have some vintage Buck brothers pairing chisels that I love. I do have a set of Narex also. They seem to be better quality steel over the Stanley's, but the fit and finish keeps me from using them day to day. If your looking for something at a lower price point. I can recommend the Wood river brand. I have a set of those that I sharpened at 20* for soft woods and they hold up nicely.
Wow you’re on it, thanks for the reply. Just so my little brain gets it, you mean the fit and finish of the Narex is to bad or to nice🤷🏻♂️

Nicely done... I'm getting ready to build myself a shave horse and like yours so well, I'm going to use your design. I use traditional tools as well as modern tools in my shop. The modern look to a traditional tool such as this shave horse is very appealing. Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks Jeff, I copied it off a Brian Boggs design...Just wanted to be sure to give him credit for the original. Enjoy!
Really enjoyed the video, excellent shave horse to pretty to use
What is the free bore distance on the RPR ? I hate that many barrel manufacturers putting so much free bore in their barrels that you can't get close to the lands. BTW .... nice shop and great video. thanks for sharing.
Very nice
I just wish I knew where to get quality snaps and things...
Check out index fasteners thats where I got the ones used in this video. I was very happy with them and never had a problem.
@@crazy-eyewoodguy4489 thanks so much!
If you use a piece of tape on the back side of your go gauge it works as a no go gauge one of Gordys tricks
Thank you for doing this video. Helped me a great deal. God Bless.
Where r u located
5 years late to the party but great review! Liked and thanks !
Thank you Sir. Very helpful.
First one showed missing parts. Second one was complete. It's a working bench grinder th-cam.com/users/postUgkxxC8HPnl24fu0XhMU_nbmWNEUoK1RMHXk . One thing I like alot is that it's surprisingly quiet. I don't feel like I'm sacrificing any rpms or power for the quietness either. All in all it's a very nice machine. No vibration whatsoever.
Nice modification! How can I make that work for a belt sander? Say a harbor freight type sander?
Real nice holster I would like one. You apparently do not have a web site, at least I couldn't find one. I don't open social media accounts like instagram.
I’m not currently making holsters for health reasons. Thanks for watching
@@crazy-eyewoodguy4489 Sorry to hear that, best wishes for your health. Thanks for responding.
Thanks for your experience
Hi, i think this type of sharpening systems are not sharpening a blade on the original angle but on a forced angle and only if the blade is perfectly round with the same radius on the whole lenght of the blade. If you are not in accord with me, you can make a video to show with the electronic angle meter to show everybody in different spots of the blade it is a different angle and that can damage the blades and messed up your entire angle of the blade because when you haveTHE SAME HEIGHT BUT DIFFERENT DISTANCE, THE ANGLE BETWEEN THE BLADE AND STONE CHANGE, and THATS NOT GOOD FOR THE BLADES. After few sharpening sessions with these kind of systems you will have on a single blade a mutitude of angles that VARY with the shape of the blade, the more curves or chages of a direction of a blade has the more angles you'll have because, LIKE I SAID BEFORE, THE DISTANCE AND ANGLES ARE INVERSELY PROPORTIONAL then as one quantity increases, the other decreases.
Excellent overview of each. I really appreciate the focus on the side edges of each. I agree that “bejesus” is entirely a technical term lol 😂
LOL thanks for watching
The reason,I bought the lie Nielsen chisels and planes , is they have resell! Just looks on eBay! They will never be less than what you paid for, even if they are used.. the prices are crazy on eBay! Especially after Covid! Also why would you buy anything that was made in china! After they killed over a million Americans! With Covid!
From what I have heard the lab-leak theory is credible. The idea China would deliberately injure itself and others seems unlikely. W. Churchill once said " One must not assume malice when stupidity is ample explanation". Whatever the cause a proper inquiry is long overdue!
I am building a Spoon Mule. I would have loved to see you make the seat in regular time not high speed. I understand you needed to cut the video down. maybe you can re post that section at regular speed. Thank you.
Thank you for the comment, Yes I had a huge amount of footage. If I make another Ill break it up into smaller videos with more detail.
Website isn't coming up -- still taking orders??
Just wow! Beautifully done. A super rock solid construction. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching.
Do you make any of these horses to sell? They are awesome.Great job
Prrudiest one I've seen! Real nice!
Thank you that is profeshenal job.!!!!!!
Amazing, I probably have no use for a shave horse, but I love their simplicity and usefulness, this one has to be the best one I've seen, be cool to use the basic design and back part but mate it with a small work bench and some sort of clamp that holds a piece of wood in place like the shave horse, ha! I just seen you don't have a use for one either lol, great build though, love it!..
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I still haven't used it yet :) My neighbor is building a winzor chair and he is getting quite a bit of time on it..
Fantastic build. You’re a true craftsman.
Thank you!
Looks great!
Does the angle change as the stone approaches the tip of the blade?
Not if the knife is correctly placed in the jaws. Thanks for commenting.
Mighty nice looking holster. Much appreciation for taking us along through the process.
Glad you enjoyed, thanks for the comment!
This is such an elegant and simple design and looks robust as a tank. Surprised at the cheapo stamp steel brackets they included. Nice Baldor grinder too!
Thank you!
