Loved that "combination" wrench.
Thanks. I need this
agilent model?7000? 5977?
Pro tip: Get a dremel and put the qtip in the dremel. Then clean with the aluminium oxide and methanol slurry. Much faster and easier. Manually you'll scrape for hours... Or just replace the parts, but those are expensive and replacing isn't an option in academics and some little labs. But the filaments really need to be replaced as soon as they are deformed. You have two, but still you don't want to have to vent because of bad filaments decreasing sensitivity or even blown ones (can happen fast because most people don't get that it doesn't matter if you see/measure it or not, it passes the ion source and filaments). Oh and great and really informative video btw.
"On this machine the control screen is not working" They break on all agilent MSDs after some years... It's useless anyways, so no problem. But if you want it, they are standard screens and can easily be bought from china and swapped out.

If you really want to get the oxidation/charred organic crap off the parts especially on the source body near the filaments then you have to use the green abrasive paper. Also if you don't have aluminum slurry Barkeeper's Friend works just as well or better.
I always found that the green abrasive paper leaves some gouges in the metal. Do you use the slurry after the green paper?
@@lukebusta1386 According to Agilent some minor scratching has no impact. It is better get those parts nice and clean.
Thanks for the video.
arent u supposed to turn off the quadrupol temperature before opening
It's turned off automatically when the vent cycle runs.
Thank you for the video
Very helpful!!!thanks
Hallo, I have a unit like this and I would like to sell it for spare parts. I suppose it has been used very few times before being changed with another one. It has broken plastic pieces from the cover but I suppose it is in almost new condictions. Do you have any suggestions? What are the valuable parts? Where do I should sell it? Ebay?
Hi there - I think eBay will indeed be your best bet. I know several people that have bought scientific equipment off eBay.
Hi
Thank you so much
Thank you for uploading this video. This is very useful. I did the cleaning following your guideline and the put the whole thing back today. But I am having trouble while tunning the msd. Can you please help me with that?
Will you please send me an email?
Can i have your email id please?

You know you are in academia when you decide that reinstalling two burnt ass filaments is a good idea.
is this video distorted because of the methanol fumes?
was wondering why too
Hey I saw myself there which surprised me a lot :)
You are the absolute best for putting these videos together, thank you so much for taking the time to do this and to share with your fellow scientists!
I'm so glad you found it useful!
Very helpful series. Thank you!
Thanks! Are there other GC topics on which you would like to see similar videos?
