By using locally sourced wood we contribute our share to the prevention of global warming. We use wood from our own forest for heating and once a year the logs are chipped with the XXL albach Chipper. This year it has been dry and some of the logs were a bit older which caused quite some dust during the chipping process.

    Do you get more heat when the wood is chipped? & does it cover the cost of a chipper & fuel compared to just burning as logs

    • @villavontenie2618
      @villavontenie2618 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The wood chips feed automatically into the heating system which could never be achieved with logs. The heating system output can be varied depending upon what is needed.

    I cant stand it any longer. We will prevent global warming by BURNING wood chips. Burning wood chips may be SUSTAINABLE but it makes little to no difference to the amount of carbon dioxide produces because you are BURNING something that contains CARBON.. knucklehead.

    • @villavontenie2618
      @villavontenie2618 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If we do not burn the wood and one day the tree dies it will decompose slowly over years and thereby create "useless" heat and carbon doixide anyway which will be reused be new trees. We basically accelerate this process and make use of the heat. All areas where trees are harvested are reforested thereby absorbing the carbon dioxide again to grow new trees.

    Does burning wood hurt the environment? WOOD SMOKE IS AIR POLLUTION. ... Residential wood burning also produces a laundry list of other pollutants such as mercury, carbon monoxide, greenhouse gases, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and nitrogen oxides. The VOCs react with nitrogen oxides to form ground-level ozone and with water vapor to form acid rain.

    • @villavontenie2618
      @villavontenie2618 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is not a residential burning of wood in a fireplace. This is a highly professional heating system (HDG compact 100) burning untreated wood that meets the latest standards regarding chemical pollution, carbon monoxide, particulate matter etc. I am not sure what your comment rerarding mecrury is based on, perhaps you can show us your source regarding this information. Untreated wood normally does not contain mercury unless the wood has been treated with chemicals. It is forbidden to burn treated wood here in Germany as this has a high ricsk of polluting the environment.

    • @samkom33
      @samkom33 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      it takes 2-3 years to dry out a log.. while chips can be dryed in minutes if needed by say running it thru a pipe dryer. Chis are also easyer to feed as needed in say a little screw conveyefeeder that can handle chips ore pellets. here is an example of a chips dryer where you can send hot dry air thru::: th-cam.com/video/QFtq8-blY7U/w-d-xo.html

    • @villavontenie2618
      @villavontenie2618 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@samkom33 you are right logs will never be as dry as chips from a dryer. However we use logs from local forest with max 2 km transportation to storage. They are dried in a sunny place and chipped directly where needed for heating. Humidity after drying approx 30-35% We use our tractor to fill the chips into the storage for the heating system. In our area chips are dried in containers in the local biomass energy plant which has lots of excess heat as a side product. There you can dry chips up til 10-15% humidity. The cost of transportation to this plant however would outweight the benefit of having drier chips.
