My dear, may I please give you some suggestions? First of all, you really need to k knead that dough for a good solid 5 minutes before trying to sculpt you're not giving it a chance to warm up and take out the cracks. Also I think you would benefit in watching some sculpting videos. It's much easier than you're making it look. Keep trying and have a wonderful day! You'll get there if you'll just be patient. 🌹🦋
@@ShelbyFerrell-f6i many thanks for these good advice. I will follow them for sure! Also I will use better quality clay for next time. The consistency of this one did not really please me...

THANK YOU soo much for making it!! I LOVE watching you draw and sketch ... and I LOVE that you take your time to do it so well ... Merry Christmas to you, Guilaine, and I hope this coming year will be full of wonder and joy for you!! <3

Hi Guilaine <3 I am really enjoying this video ... I'm typing my comment while I watch ... I am SOOO happy when you show your sketching ... sooo helpful!! ... I really enjoyed the story ... and your analysis of it about asking questions of yourself and acting morally ... Such a good idea to begin with sepia ... Your sketch and your finished work are stunning!! Love all the crosshatching!! <3
@@jayne3944 Hello Jayne, thank you as always for your thoughtful and nice comments. Hi Guilaine ... Such a great informative video!! Thank you for the information on the safflower oil ... white is my favorite color ... and I like it to be very white and crisp also ... And I love hearing how you mix your colors ... I always have such a difficult time with that! You painted this so beautifully ... especially for such a difficult and unusual subject matter!! SO EXCELLENT!! <3
@@jayne3944 Hello Jayne, the video is a bit long, but I wanted it to be more informative on my process...I can't say I'm an expert in oil painting. There are many things to learn, in particular regarding mediums...you can get so much different effects and styles, depending on how you use mediums but also on how you apply your painting (layers, underpainting...). Once you start with oil, I feel you will always learn!
@@guilainejeanpierreart Hi Guilaine <3 I don't think the video was too long! I love and so appreciate hearing the things you are learning ... it helps SOO much!! I could watch and listen to your videos allllllll day!! <3
@@jayne3944 Thank you, sometimes I'm wondering if my rumblings are a bit boring. And this one was not scripted...so it was a bit all over the place, but many thanks for the feedback Jayne!
This is SOOOOO beautiful, Guilaine, in soo many ways!! I have never heard of the Book of Tobit before ... I looked up more about it and see that is in the Apocrypha of the Bible ... My daughter just gave me a present recently of an extremely old gorgeous Bible ... and it has the Apocrypha in it! ... So I will be able to read this story now! I LOVE your BEAUTIFUL painting!!!!! <3 And I LOVE hearing your thoughts about God ... and especially "Believe like a child" ... So true ... pure ... and lovely!!! I've been thinking a quite similar thing lately ... about the importance of trusting God and his Word ... and it has passed thru my mind about Jeanne d'Arc ... you probably know so much about her ... being French and all ... I don't know that much about her except her strong desire to follow God ... and I have been thinking about trying to do a painting of her ... but I really don't know if I am up to such a challenge ... but I might try ... I LOVE alllll your BEAUTIFUL artwork, Guilaine ... THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for doing these lovely lovely videos!! <3 (Sorry for another long comment here!)
@@jayne3944 HIi Jayne, thank you again for this lovely and long comment! I like your long comment. I' m learning so much as well! Is this book really Apocryphal? I think in France it is not... it is in the Bibile...how strange! I know that in Ethiopia, Enoch book is in the Bible and not Apocryphal but it is not allowed in French Bible...so interesting...why hiding these knowledge from people...why simply hiding God all the time.. this is my reflexion....I'm happy your like it. This is such an innocent and joyful story....almost like a fairy tale😘🥰
WOW, Guilaine!!! What a GREAT video!! THANK YOU SOO MUCH for making this!! You are VERY VERY good at these portraits!! Hi Guilaine ... I left a comment here yesterday for this BEAUTIFUL video when I watched you show pictures of your holiday to such a gorgeous Greek island ... and paint this wonderful refreshing painting of the cove ... but I must have forgotten to hit the comment button (haha) because it never posted ... anyway ... I LOVE LOVE LOVE your painting ... you are VERY talented with landscapes!! ... You mentioned wanting to paint more of them ... I HOPE you do!! This one is soo lovely!! <3
@@jayne3944 Thank you Jayne. Landscape are my weak point but I want to improve them and to integrate them more in paintings composition!
This is amazing, Guilaine!! One of my VERY favorite paintings of yours!! It looks like it should be hanging in an old Victorian house ... BEAUTIFUL!! It's one of those paintings that make you wonder and want to know more about this person ... Really good!! I love it!! As for your comments about work opposed to being a full time artist ... I have wondered that often myself ... For me I think that having a steady income to not have to worry about, is very important when it comes to stress ... I don't do art well when I'm stressed (except journaling that helps me through my stress) ... but I'm thinking that perhaps a part time job or maybe working a four day week instead of a five day week at first, to have a full extra day to do art, would be a good beginning without totally giving up a full time job and then maybe not like being a full time artist. Also I know I procrastinate VERY much ... one of my big downfalls ... I have the extra time to do a lot of art right now ... and I find that I don't do nearly as much as I thought I would or even care to do now ... I think taking the time off gradually might be a possibility ... Just my thoughts I've had when contemplating the same idea ... Also when you are trying to do art as an income, I think the art might not turn out as well because it's always in the back of your head that you have to do more and faster to make enough to pay the bills ... although some artists just take off and become millionaires 😀 ... Anyway ... I LOVE your BEAUTIFUL painting!!! <3 (Sorry this is such a long comment!!)
@@jayne3944 Thank you again...yes this is what I'm thinking as well. Artists tend to no really cope well with money pressure if they want to make art for a living... Art is also a way out for me for relieving my stress and for focusing. It helps me also to be less in front of a screens and to more present ! Thank you again for you advice and liking this painting 💕

I just watched your video again ... I LOVE your intricate lovely drawing and all the beautiful cross-hatching!! You are so very good with all the tiny details ... the window and torch are so great!! You asked who we thought she might be ... I think perhaps a very sweet curious girl who found a mysterious map in one of her fathers old dusty library books ... that will lead her to solve an ancient family or castle mystery ... or perhaps she is a beautiful young artist named Guilaine who is carrying her sketchbook around to record the amazingly awesome & beautiful rooms in the castle 🙂 I also LOVED seeing some of your other sketches in the beginning of the video in your sketchbook!! You have SUCH an amazing imagination!! <3

It always amazes me how patient you are with your drawings and paintings ... I love the time and care you put into them! I really like how the light is shining in the window on this one! ... I have never heard of "Dark Academia" before ... I looked up some images on Google of it ... very interesting! ... I love Art Deco a lot too ... and also Art Nouveau ... LOVE your painting AS ALWAYS!!! <3
@jayne3944 Actually, I' m quite an impatient person, but art has learned me to calm down and to accept whatever the result will be. Many thanks for always putting a lovely comment on my videos!

And THANK YOU for sharing such helpful instructions about how to think about the light and work it into a painting!! <3
This type of skills are coming little by little. The more you draw and paint, the more you will get there one day. Do not worry 🙂
