Sahih Bukhari - 1162 ARABIC: حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي الْمَوَالِي ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا , قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعَلِّمُنَا الِاسْتِخَارَةَ فِي الْأُمُورِ كُلِّهَا ، كَمَا يُعَلِّمُنَا السُّورَةَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ , يَقُولُ : إِذَا هَمَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بِالْأَمْرِ فَلْيَرْكَعْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ مِنْ غَيْرِ الْفَرِيضَةِ ، ثُمَّ لِيَقُلِ دعا: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ ، فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَا أَقْدِرُ وَتَعْلَمُ وَلَا أَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ خَيْرٌ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي أَوْ قَالَ عَاجِلِ أَمْرِي وَآجِلِهِ فَاقْدُرْهُ لِي وَيَسِّرْهُ لِي ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ ، وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ شَرٌّ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي أَوْ قَالَ فِي عَاجِلِ أَمْرِي وَآجِلِهِ فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّي وَاصْرِفْنِي عَنْهُ ، وَاقْدُرْ لِي الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ ثُمَّ أَرْضِنِي ، قَالَ : وَيُسَمِّي حَاجَتَهُ . TRANSLATION URDU: رسول اللہ ﷺ ہمیں اپنے تمام معاملات میں استخارہ کرنے کی اسی طرح تعلیم دیتے تھے جس طرح قرآن کی کوئی سورت سکھلاتے ۔ آپ ﷺ فرماتے کہ جب کوئی اہم معاملہ تمہارے سامنے ہو تو فرض کے علاوہ دو رکعت نفل پڑھنے کے بعد یہ دعا پڑھے ( ترجمہ ) ” اے میرے اللہ ! میں تجھ سے تیرے علم کی بدولت خیر طلب کرتا ہوں اور تیری قدرت کی بدولت تجھ سے طاقت مانگتا ہوں اور تیرے فضل عظیم کا طلبگار ہوں کہ قدرت تو ہی رکھتا ہے اور مجھے کوئی قدرت نہیں ۔ علم تجھ ہی کو ہے اور میں کچھ نہیں جانتا اور تو تمام پوشیدہ باتوں کو جاننے والا ہے ۔ اے میرے اللہ ! اگر تو جانتا ہے کہ یہ کام جس کے لیے استخارہ کیا جا رہا ہے میرے دین ، دنیا اور میرے کام کے انجام کے اعتبار سے میرے لیے بہتر ہے یا ( آپ ﷺ نے یہ فرمایا کہ ) میرے لیے وقتی طور پر اور انجام کے اعتبار سے یہ ( خیر ہے ) تو اسے میرے لیے نصیب کر اور اس کا حصول میرے لیے آسان کر اور پھر اس میں مجھے برکت عطا کر اور اگر تو جانتا ہے کہ یہ کام میرے دین ، دنیا اور میرے کام کے انجام کے اعتبار سے برا ہے ۔ یا ( آپ ﷺ نے یہ کہا کہ ) میرے معاملہ میں وقتی طور پر اور انجام کے اعتبار سے ( برا ہے ) تو اسے مجھ سے ہٹا دے اور مجھے بھی اس سے ہٹا دے ۔ پھر میرے لیے خیر مقدر فرما دے ، جہاں بھی وہ ہو اور اس سے میرے دل کو مطمئن بھی کر دے “۔ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا کہ اس کام کی جگہ اس کام کا نام لے ۔ PRONUNCIATION: Allaahumma ‘innee ‘astakheeruka bi’ilmika, wa ‘astaqdiruka biqudratika, wa ‘as’aluka min fadhtikal-‘Adheemi, fa’innaka taqdiru wa laa ‘aqdiru, wa ta’lamu, wa laa ‘a’lamu, wa ‘Anta ‘Allaamul-Ghuyoobi, Allaahumma ‘in kunta ta’lamu ‘anna haathal-‘amra-[then mention the thing to be decided] Khayrun lee fee deenee wa ma’aashee wa ‘aaqibati ‘amree - [or say] ‘Aajilihi wa ‘aajilihi - Faqdurhu lee wa yassirhu lee thumma baarik lee feehi, wa ‘in kunta ta’lamu ‘anna haathal-‘amra sharrun lee fee deenee wa ma’aashee wa ‘aaqibati ‘amree - [or say] ‘Aajilihi wa ‘aajilihi - Fasrifhu ‘annee wasrifnee ‘anhu waqdur liyal-khayra haythu kaana thumma ‘ardhinee bihi TRANSLATION OF DUA ENGLISH: "O Allah! I seek goodness from Your Knowledge and with Your Power (and Might) I seek strength, and I ask from You Your Great Blessings, because You have the Power and I do not have the power. You Know everything and I do not know, and You have knowledge of the unseen. Oh Allah! If in Your Knowledge (mention the task or action) is better for my religion and faith, for my life and end [death], for here [in this world] and the hereafter then make it destined for me and make it easy for me and then add blessings [baraka] in it, for me. O Allah! In Your Knowledge if this action is bad for me, bad for my religion and faith, for my life and end [death], for here [in this world] and the hereafter then turn it away from me and turn me away from it and whatever is better for me, ordain [destined] that for me and then make me satisfied with it."

May Allah make it easy for you insha Allah. We can read istakhara dua for anything. Its like you are delegating a matter to Allah to manage it for you. Even if you are planning to buy something and confuse between two things. Read the Istakhara dua and leave it on Allah, insha Allah Allah will make it easy for you. If you are planning to go overseas, you are saying to Allah that please do what is best first me and if going overseas will be better for you insha Allah you will go and if not Allah knows whats best for you 💕 jazak Allah khair for your question 👍

Brother he is saying that istikhara is that you read istakhara dua and then leave the matter on Allah and Allah will divert your heart what is good for you. In some cultures people believe that they will see light or flowers in dream and it means that they can proceed with that matter and its a green signal. Its not right. Its misconception and peopel created this in few cultures/countries. The right way is to read dua and then leave the matter on Allah, insha Allah. May Allah guide us all 💕
