The Easy Baetis is a fly I designed for the San Juan River. Its versatile, durable and can be tied in many colors to imitate baetis hatches at your local river too. Materials: Hook : Daichii 1110 (Size 20) daiichi-1110-wide-gape-dry-fly-hook Thread : Semperfli Nanosilk 18/0 (Brick Beige) semperfli-nano-silk-thread-18-0 Ribs : ice thread monofilament by hareline Wing case and Legs : Cashmere mon...
Brilliant! 🤙🏻
Great pattern, thank you for showing us.
What feather did you use for the legs?
Eli, this might sound like a silly question but where do you get you paint brush(s)? I bought one from Ace Hardware and I didn’t like the finish of the bristles so I ended up throwing it away. Thanks! 🎣
Thanks Amigo! I'll be trying these!
Perfect
The second color is called "sand". I've tied these on a larger hook and believe me ,this is a difficult fly on a larger hook .Imagine on a size 20 !!!!!! I have been tying for 55+ years. I used "Ostrich hurl" to create the gills, and so do other Tyers. Not only is this pattern expensive but it's also for an expert tyer. I'm not about to spend this much money on a fly I might through away. I don't have a Sponsor paying for my material. I'll stick to my method. ✌
Dope! Sick spin bro!
Great tie, curious as to what you are using for the front legs
Eli congrats to you and your son! Just read your guys story in Fly Tyer magazine. I live in Abq. Way to represent New Mexico. Love the flies! Good luck with your future endeavors.
Ingenious use of materials and techniques, just like so many of the other patterns that you have shared here on YT! Love the simplicity that is in all of your flies. Thanks for sharing! 🎣
Fast and clean to 🏆 winner 🏆
Looks fantastic! What is the clear body wrap material?
Just clear body latex
Looks like you may have the last of the Ice Thread - can’t find it anywhere… 😕
Artistry! I’m going to have to work up to this one. 😅 Tight lines! 🎣
You tie the best flys.
I know this video is abit older at this point but if you see this could you please link the slf squirrel dubbing and what the exact colors are. I can't find a similar white slf squirrel dub
Thanks Eli, I’ve never heard of Ice Thread…where do you get this product? Thanks.
HEY KENNETH SANDERS WHY DON'T YOU DO A VIDEO SO WE CAN WATCH THE TOTAL PRO DO IT!!! AND WE CAN ALL CRITIQUE THAT......JACKASS
Mr G. Can you give me the recipe for the mandalorian fly. Love your flies. Thanks
Супер работа!!!
Very nice bug as usual what kind of body material did you use I like the bluish tint with the green very juicy lookin
Great looking fly.
Emu and guinea?
Awesome technique! That's some fly tying enginuity. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Cheers!
Is that wire in the final wrap?
I think it's the same nano silk he used at the very start
Cute little guys. Thankyou 4 showing us how to tie them. Aloha 🌴🏄♂🎣
Nice tie ..
Great pattern. It's saved the day on several rivers for me.
Thanks for sharing, Eli.
That looks so good even I'm tempted to eat it.
That's impressive. Once again on sixteens size hook, please 🥴.
Great job, Eli.
DUDE .I got to the point You said your using a #24 ..... bull shit.. I'm using a 20 and found it to be VERY small. .You said this caddis larva in real is only 7mm. that's a size 18 bud. Also, you are using synthetic quils you have to soak the stripped peacock quill in water first, or it will break.
Hey Eli, I enjoy watching you tie, it inspires me to get back into learning how to tie again. Thank you!
Well done. Thank you for teaching it.
Glad it was helpful!
Love it - canMt wait to give it a try!!
legs are WAY to long they interfere with the barb of your hook and actually look unrealistic.
Definitely on another level! Hats off!
Damn dude just wait until everybody catches on to this channel! It will take off like you won’t believe! Keep the art coming!
That is SOOOOOO cool. I actually have a bunch of the right color mono so I'm on it!!
Wow¡ so good. You have became by far my most favorite fly Tyer in the universe thank you for sharing
i appreciate that so much sorry i have not been active on youtube but i plan more soon! stay tuned!
Nice fly, thank you.
Thanks Eli. Great pattern
Is there an alternative to slim rib?
any vinyl ribbing will probably suffice, but slim rib is a solid material it does not flatten out like other ribbing, that is the key to this product it stays round. hope this helps
Any small vinyl tubing should work. Thanks
Eli, what color ice thread? I can only find clear, but yours looks more brown or rusty in color. Great pattern btw!
thank you yes this is brown ice thread, i am not sure they still make it, but if you have small (7x) tippet you can color with a marker to make any color you like the UV will hold the color, hope this helps! thank you
A beautifully tied fly. I don’t know if it’s too long a time since you posted this, but I’m hoping you will see these questions. In the introduction, you showed a group of flies in this pattern, some of which had more pronounced ribs. Did you color the edges of the latex? I couldn’t tell from the pattern recipe. Is the bead plastic or tungsten? Thank you for your video & sharing the fly with us.
im sorry i have not been active on youtube, i plan to do more soon. yes i do color the latex sometimes with markers and then resin to hold the color and finnish hope this helps you can also follow on instagram @easyeflygonzales i am more active there thanks
Very nice pattern...you are the bug surgeon! Thanks for sharing.
thanks so much!
My favorite Fly Tier doing his thing! Thanks for sharing this with us brother! You are too kind! -G
Eli, I notice this fly on your Instagram page a while back, and have been wondering what the heck you used for the actual larva, but I didn't want to seem like a total noob. Thanks for this video. You make it look easy. Now I just have to figure out the 'for get me knot.' Cheers Bro!
thank you, its actually not to difficult lemme know if i can help. thanks
