Backyard Pots
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 2 เม.ย. 2020
Backyard Pots is a project intended to demonstrate how to find and process local clay, while experimenting with accessible firing strategies in the production of traditional pottery vessels. Because of all educational instruction moving to an online format in practicing social distancing, the ceramics community has been dramatically effected by this transition in that all of the registered students quickly found themselves without materials and tools in their efforts in learning the ceramic process.
These videos chronicle my experiences in offering students solutions in finding clay around their living quarters, and wherever possible, fire their clay pots with a variety of simple firing methods. With supplemental information regarding other cultures around the world and historical practices, students will be able to break the barriers of a contemporary studio and find the only necessary ingredients to making pottery is clay and fire.

Love your fire barrel did you make it yourself I’m new to your channel fabulous
Great video but the western style raku was not developed by american artists. It was first brought to Britain by Bernard Leach then it became popular in the US about 40 years later.
Shhhn americans love rewriting history.
@@OktoPutsch Probably because they almost never apply to international sources. American life is no different than North Korean in a way. We have a saying in Türkiye, the translation might not be perfect but… “They sing and dance alone”
@@Jazzgin Interesting saying ! Thanks this share, I hope people found peace since the last earthquake. Cheers from France. Take care
@@OktoPutsch That’s very thoughtful of you. People in the disaster area are still trying to recover. Thank you so much on behalf of the millions who were affected.
I just watched a video where he used a bench top grain grinder to dry process his clay, looks much less messy and labor intensive than a hammer and compaction tamper :) here's a link th-cam.com/video/UYlhuOgFuiA/w-d-xo.html
Great vid
Your channel is so under appreciated:(
Blah blah blah Just get on with it already. Lmao full respirator, yeah that's so necessary.
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing! Your kiln design , so clever. Your completed pots were stunning.
Very nice work 👍 good luck, please add automatic translation, and I would like to see a lot about the work of primitive pottery, my greetings 🌹
Appreciated this vid a lot. I'm glad you also referenced what African potters do as well. Bless
Thank you, that was so succinct and inspirational
Great video and I love your setup.
Very interesting kiln design. I especially liked hearing about using it for high firing.
I agree because that means you could use more variety types of glazes and not use the reduction method if you don’t want to I’m guessing.
Hi, what’s a normal clay to use for this type bake? Medium size figure? Not hollow...
My sister just told me her neighbor's husband is also a ceramics teacher with a TH-cam channel. We should be best friends.
