Transformer Overcurrent Protection: Adding Thermal Damage Curves for Coordination
Following a great suggestion from Adrien Garcia, I’ve added the thermal damage curve of a step-down transformer to the overcurrent protection tool. In this video, I demonstrate how to plot the transformer's thermal withstand characteristic, either using predefined C/I² curves or custom manual points based on manufacturer data.
You’ll also learn how to:
- Adjust the thermal damage curve with flexible input options.
- Verify relay coordination against the transformer damage limits.
- Select appropriate CT ratios for HV and LV sides using full-load values (40 MVA, 132kV/11kV, 8% impedance).
