My biggest problem is that I do many things and you can't wear your going to town stuff camping. The ski weardrobe does not work for a walk in the Winter. I do pack away clothes and pull out other ones about 4 times a year as I live where we really have 4 seasons.

Hi, thank you for sharing your experience! I'm doing a no buy month to stop emotional shopping and also to enjoy what I have, because there are pieces I love, but rarely wear (so kind of similar to you). Been going through a rather traumatic period in my life atm and shopping got out of control. During the ni buy month I shopped 2x already. First time was something I actually really needed and it was a great deal (secondhand) and the second was a pick me up (also Vinted, so can't return). And I feel bad about that, for failing. But looking at it as a learning experience instead, because I recognise the emotions I had at the time, actually really helps. Hopefully next time I'll be able to recognise that this need to buy is coming from an emotional state and probably not a good idea to go for it. Thanks for sharing ❤

Such a great video and I really truly appreciate you talking us through it! I think the most important part of figuring out our style is taking time to analyze. This should take more time than shopping because once you analyze and pin down exactly what you like and wear, you know exactly what to look for when you’re shopping and you don’t have to browse through everything. Right now as I watch your video, I am going through all of my summer wardrobe and taking out the pieces I did not wear or only wore once and didn’t feel great in. Packing away only the pieces that I actually wore. I am working on pairing down my wardrobe because I still have quite an excess so I am also not buying anything with the exception of gaps or worn out pieces. My third baby is now 10 months and I noticed that my style changed quite a bit after having her, especially since my youngest before her is 6… I was able to start wearing nicer pieces again. But I have analyzed is that I have become more active! My change of lifestyle was no longer accommodating wearing my nicer, slightly more restrictive clothing, so I have been making changes in that regard as well.

I have a pair of black Vivaia low heeled shoes with tan toes and they’re sooooooo comfy (without socks) and stylish.

I just got some custom converse with D&D prints all over them that I love. I’m a huge nerd and they make my nerd heart happy. Now for them to release World of Warcraft ones…

Well done on your no-buy year so far; it sounds as though you've made a lot of progress and had some growth over the period, which is fantastic. I'm looking forward to the video about your strategy for going forward after the year is up. How you're going to use the lessons that you've learnt, how you're going to avoid backsliding once you've removed the restrictions, etc.

Vivaia is my favorite shoe brand! I got a pair of loafers that together make a cheetah and a pair of black boots. I want to get some sandals too.

I'm currently doing a September through to November no buy. I have a Green list of essential items and bills etc,a Yellow list of things like gifts for others , tailoring or if anything breaks and a red list- no clothing, shoes or make-up especially lipgloss/ lipsticks.I literally felt physically sick such as hot flashes and heart palpitations when I first made up my mind to do the no buy,but I persevered very happy that I made the decision, it's not easy at all as I see alot of items on my wishlist appearing in my social feeds😢.But I know I can do this 🙏🙌

I have a pair, very simmilar. I often wear them with a thin, slimfit blue and white striped cardigan underneath. I really like the v neckline and the small Buttons showing a little bit. Maybe if you have a thin and slim cardigan, try putting it under i am sure it would look really good on you❤

I enjoy seeing the cutaways with the outfits. I don't know if it's just me, but it looks like the camera is focused on the monstera plant and not you, when you are standing by the wall, which makes it a bit hard to see the details 🤷‍♀

After a year of more shopping than usual - modern classics and footwear I needed, nothing silly - I have absolutely no regrets but I am facing a big upheaval in my life that will cost quite a lot. So there will be leaner years ahead when I will enjoy wearing and styling and loving what I already have, and do no shopping (or very low shopping). I am grateful and happy I bought several pieces when I could, as they're no longer available, especially the footwear, so everything's been a good investment. "Buy when you see it, not when you need it."

Not doing a no buy but I gave myself a budget of $1200 for the year. $100 a month for clothing, shoes, and accessories. I can spend more or less than $100 a month as long as I don’t go over the $1200.

❤thank you. Just discovered your channel. I started my no buy year in January 2024. I created a few rules and boundaries. It’s been a huge eye opener. And 7 months later, I am happier, richer, and my wardrobe is organized and filled with clothes that define my style and aesthetic. The biggest eye opener is how consumerism is harmful to our planet. 🌎 For example, the amount of water used to make and dye jeans and other garments is not sustainable. Planning on shopping only second hand in 2025. Fortunate that I live in a town that has numerous second hand stores even with luxury brands. I found happiness in wearing my clothing, styling my outfits, curating a look & wearing items often versus feeling like I need something new for every occasion. Looking forward to checking out more of your channel. 😊

Hi Gemma, thank you for this video and for raising awareness about mindful shopping. In 2023, I tracked my spending on clothing, shoes, bags, jewelry, and other similar items. For 2024, I’ve decided to designate certain months as 'no-buy' periods, and even when I do spend, I’ll be keeping my budget much lower than in 2023. I’ve also focused on buying items I truly love and can wear frequently, even if they’re on the pricier side. While I’m not perfect, I’m happy to have spent significantly less so far this year, and I’ve developed the habit of really considering my purchases before finalizing them.☺

I've done one for the summer. Its hard at first but gets easier

A amount of money seems the most freeing. I like to shop fall so I would lob a bit back for then to pad that time.
