Yep, that was my old method :/ However, I'm having a go (in audacity) at duplicating the song, low pass @85hz one of them and high pass @150hz the other, then on the track with low pass, I normalise to -2db, then compress it to level the kicks with the 808s. Then I just decrease peak volume on the high pass track to 0db. Works alot better then just banging every song I "boosted" through a filter curve eq ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Audio is a lil choppy here, it's fixed in the next upload tho 🗣️‼️
I used to use the filter eq, but that reduced the sound of the instrumental, so now I'm just messing around with channel splitting, loudness normalization and compression :)

I can only apoligise for the cack bitrate on this particular vid, I set the CBR to 18 instead of 40 for some reason, that reason being that I was off my tits on the cali pen. Ill fix it on the next upload broski !!
