    I tried several times to get this to work. I was able to get the wire order correct in the new rj45 connector but it never worked. Then I noticed in the diagram that it said pins 4/5 and 7/8 are soldered together. How in the world is this accomplished? I know in the original connector that came with the camera it is set up this way, but in the video it is said this doesn't matter. So either there was a step skipped or my camera is beyond dead.

    • @Hasher411
      @Hasher411 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does not matter which which one you use becouse they are termated together in the camera. I hate to say it but if it didnt work for you chances are that your camera 'if its the correct model' is done.

    I cant thank you enough for posting this very helpful and well done video. I was faces with more or less the same problem and have to replace the RJ45 8 pin cable that has been corroded in the rain so badly that some of the wires were loose. I had a heck of a time ringing it out and stumbled into your extremely timely and helpful video. I'm anxious now to try it out. Thank you thank you thank you.

    ...the fix works for any ethernet cable, poe and any type networking...wiring is standard and is not rocket science...for outside installations, place connectors in weatherproof electrical box. The cable is waterproof...not weatherproof...in this tower install you should have used half inch pvc conduit, its cheap and saves this type aggravation, but more importantly...dependability and peace of mind when away from home...my 2¢...

    video was just what I needed. didn't seal the connections very well and corrosion broke the contacts. the wire diagram you came up with is golden. this time i'm going to seal with some liquid tape and then cover it with some ductwork putty i have laying around, then cover with your tape trick. might seem like overkill but UV will degrade almost everything with time. thanks again, this saved much time.

    Can you tell me the order of lorex wires to a normal cat5e wire? So my lorex 4k camera’s wire that I cut is colors of Blue, Purple, Brown, Orange, Yellow, Black, Red, and Gray. And I want to couplar it to cat5e which color order is T568B - Orange Stripe, Orange, Green Stripe, Blue, Blue Stripe, Green, Brown Stripe, Brown

      Sorry, scene you have 8 instead of 6 wires I don't think I would be of any help. The red and black wires you have are obviously the positive and negative and displace the yellow and gray wires 'or use in combination with' in the chart of the video. That being the case I would not know which wires to match the yellow and gray too. My suggestion would to be to use a voltage meter on the yellow and gray wires on the non-camera side 'while the power to it is on' of the wires to see if their hot or not. Just a guess but I'm betting they are and everything is still the same just the red will go to blue or blue/white and the black will go to brown or brown/white 'I don't think it matters'. Either way if you get it working please leave a comment letting us know how it turned out. Your dilemma may end up helping others with the same problem and that's the whole reason why I made the video. Best of luck to you!

    I know this video is pretty old at this point, but THANK YOU! I recently got a lorex lnb8973-c from a job where the connector got water inside and the pins were corroded and basically gone, I was able to punch it down to a keystone, but I had the yellow going to two pins, so I was having issues trying to figure out how to waterproof it to be able to go outside again. You mentioned you don't have to have the yellow going to both pins, just 1, and I snipped my yellow going to both pins and it still works! so I can put an rj-45 plug on and use a weatherproof coupler. Thanks!!!!

    Do u think they would blow up if you used 3x rechargable AAs to make up for the fact that rechargable AAs have a 1.2v nominal? Btw the coin cells normally have around 3.2v when brand new and ive tested a battery that no longer works in my multipurpose sensor and it has around 2.85v so 2 rechargeable AAs wouldnt work for long as their nominal voltage would be below this. The ultimate lithium energizers also last much longer than the coin cells because the coin cells are only around 650mA while the AAs are 3500mA and they keep their 1.5v for a long time compared to alkaline AAs

    • @Hasher411
      @Hasher411 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When your doing this your not doubling the power, your still at the voltage of a single AA 1.5

    • @grahamjones6712
      @grahamjones6712 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Hasher411 misunderstanding me? 3x rechargable AAs in series would be 3.6v nominal (3x 1.2v) do you think this would blow the ICs in the sensor? The intial voltage would be even higher than this for a breif moment which is probably the bigger problem. And i didnt double the mAh of the energizer ultimate lithium AAs a single battery is 3500mAh on their datasheet. So should last around 6-7 longer than a 650mAh cr2450.

      @@Hasher411 my guesses is that it runs on 3.3v IC system and when voltage drops below 2.85v it can no longer operate this is nowhere near the full capacity of a 3v coin cell as their discharged voltage is around 1.7v although the voltage/capacity graphs of lithium cells is usually pretty flat along the nominal voltage.

    Thanks for the video. In my haste to hook up my rooftop cameras, I did not waterproof the camera connections before we received rain. I was able to salvage 4 of the corroded plugs with cleaner and dielectric grease, but 2 were beyond repair. The wiring diagrams you included were exactly what I was searching for , because , as you pointed out, you are going from a 8 wire cable down to a 6 wire camera cable. I searched for a replacement female plug , but had to settle for using Cat 5 Jacks with punch down connections to keep the Male/Female ends consistent with the original. You used a Female/Female adapter , which is another great way of solving the problem. As a side note to anyone that makes the same mistake I did, I thought that I may have damaged my DVR or at the minimum the circuit board that the Cat 5 wires plug into, as my system did loose camera signals when the wires shorted out with the rain water. I even started a Lorax Problem Ticket, but fortunately, I discovered that turning the DVR off with the switch on the back , successfully reset the system. I can’t emphasize how important it is to waterproof your camera connections!
