What about Roger's Silver Co is that real
Generally speaking, Rogers is silver plate. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F._B._Rogers_Silver_Co.
What does Sterling silver 3.25 mean and what is the $ amount per OZ ?
Are you sure it doesn't say 925?
The amount per ounce depends on the price of silver at any given time. Right now, silver is trading at $30.56 an ounce. Sterling Silver is 92.5% pure. So, for every ounce of silver there is 92.5% of an ounce of solid silver. From there it is just a math problem. $30.56 X 92.5 = $28.27 an ounce. Remember, these are Troy Ounces. Troy Ounces are not the same as ounces. If you weigh something on a kitchen scale that will be in traditional ounces. 1 ounce is .9114... troy ounces. There is about a 10% difference. Lastly, don't forget that many Sterling Silver items are weighted with something for stability. That would not have the same value as sterling and can drastically alter the weight and expected value of an object.
I'm sure it is Sterling silver 3.25 .
@ 3.25 could be a piece type put there by the maker. It could also be the amount of liquid a pitcher could hold. Assuming it's a pitcher.
What a bout a tray from the golden nugget sign by Frank Sinatra, and Willie Nelson
That sounds interesting. What is your question? Can you post a picture @bbrdaking
I just found an old Towle silver platter that has a "T" mafk gthen says e.p. 4711 below it. A magnet dosent stick to it. Could this be solid? How can I get a photo to you?
Thanks for watching and for asking a question Linda. E.P. stands for Electro Plate. You have a silver plate platter.
I have a buffet with circular cuts on the outside back of drawers. The dove tails are not handmade. Is there an estimate of a date with that info?
It sounds like a pin and cove construction method which would be 1880-1900 or so. Does this sound right when you look at the piece of furniture?
thx for video
You are welcome. I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
All
Hi Jason. Thanks for all the info! Just a comment about showing details on your items. If you hold them in front of your face, sometimes with your hand behind the piece, it will focus on the piece. Otherwise, the camera is trying to focus on your face, especially if you're holding the piece to the side. Just my 2 cents, (from the daughter of a photographer) :) Thanks, again, for sharing your knowledge!
Thanks! We all know a lot more now then we did when I filmed this. :)
Please upload in best quality, it's not the 90s anymore. Thanks!
Thanks. This video is 6 years old though. :)
@@tuxtiques So it’s from 2018 ; ) Cheers! …Sorry, really didn’t mean to be rude or anything, I’m just trying to get some more quality back in our every-days.
I have silverware with n s o e p n s on the back is it worth anything
Hi Shirley, I'm not sure what the NSO means, but the EPNS stands for Electro-Plated Nickel Silver meaning that your pieces are silver plate. The value that they would have is based solely on the popularity of the maker and pattern.
Really enjoyed this video thanks for posting I Learned alot.
You're welcome.
I am going Monday!
going where Monday?
I've got several pieces like the cups / set you had in the beginning they say wallace sterling 236, all im trying to figure out is the 236
Generally, numbers like that refer to a shape or specific piece. Like an inventory number.
Nickel silver has NO silver in it at all, it is all nickel, it is only silver looking. Silver plated, at least has some silver in it!
alot of my weighted , i strip
have large amount of sterling objects, cannot stop buying, am i wrong
it's never wrong to buy what you love!
Amazing. Is there anything that he does not know?
Thanks! I think. :)
Hi the first figurine that you show us is not Meissen at all this is Sitzeldorf 1890-5. Second figurine is Meissen 1924 - 34, The first figurine is elder than meissen on 25 - 35 yeasrs. This is not 1880 how you tell in video.
Do you know anything about golf frames

How can I tell what kind of couch I have?
If you do a Google Image search with a picture of your couch you will probably see similar examples.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge of silver. Very nice.
You're welcome!
I have a set of candle sticks and I don't know what the hallmarks stand for. If i got a photo to you would you have any idea of its origin.
Yes. Our email is info@kcauctioncompany.com
Hi. I found this at the back of an antique furniture. What is it and is it worth.
I don't see anything.
Thanks! I just got a silver toast rack at a thrift shop for $3 but after polishing it up and looking up the marks, I find that it's solid sterling. Hadn't known about the lion passant, but that's what it has on the bottom.
That's awesome Kevin! There are spurious marks out there, but often times English hallmarks are overlooked at thrift stores.
I doubt it's spurious because it polished up perfectly. Looking up the hallmark and dates, it's James Dixon and Sons made in Sheffield in 1897.
@@morobrany CONGRATULATIONS! I love a good thrift score! :)
I can feel with my fingers whether its plate or not even through tarnish. Ive picked up silver items in thrift shops that way because often the staff cant tell. Before the modern era in the uk a piece of silver would actually have a tiny bit scraped off for testing, gold and silver. So that can be something to look for in an inconspicuous area.
I've never heard of anyone being able to feel a difference. I'll have to try that out!
@@tuxtiques plate always feels a bit gritty to me. Gold and silver feel creamy or buttery. I cant describe it any better than that.
@@pheart2381 I'll definitely think about this next time I'm looking at both.
This is a such an informative video! I could listen all day. Thank you for sharing what you’ve learned.
Thank you so much Sherrie!
Great video. Thank you.

I have a silver plate set that had belonged to my mother. One leg on the tray broke off. How is it repaired?
Most cities have a company that specializes in replating, metal work, etc. Here in Kansas City, there is Hile's and Acme Brass. They both do good work.
@@tuxtiques Thanks. I called a shop in Atlanta...Buckhead Plating. They are two weeks out. I'm in no hurry. It's a sentimental piece, anyway. I'll give it to my daughter someday.
@@RalphSampson... I'm glad you found someone who can fix it.
hi - I have a desk that my dad had when I was a kid - I'm 58 now - it seems to have square nails, also the drawers are not dovetail or pin and cove - looks like just pins, no cove marks, looks like square handmade flange nuts holding the hardware on and wood keyholes... thoughts?
The only way for me to give an opinion of your piece is to see some pictures of it. Can you send some pics to info@kcauctioncompany.com
You're a f'nf boss man
thanks!
Silver dollars are not a troy ounce of silver..🤓
that's true. Sometimes my mouth works faster than my brain. 😆
I love silver too
silver is just a nice thing!
Thank you. Informative.
Thanks for watchin Juan!
Do u buy an old frames?i have an old frames
Possibly. Can you send us pictures and information about the frame?
Thanks so much for being so informative! I have gotten some Halls Silverplates, they look to be silver, and on the back engraved Halls SILVERPLATE. You know anything in regards to Halls brands and plates?
Halls is a local to Kansas City retailer that has carried nice inventory for decades. Since they are marked SILVERPLATE, they are definitely silver plate.
Thank you Jason! You know your furniture!
Thank you Dr. Dex!
I need silver to buy please help me get some
i go to mexican swapmeets and have silver plated items aat the moment, if u want pics let me know...i can get u some more since i go to places where i find often...i have had many pass me by but no one to sell them to
I've got the pin and cove or perfectly round pegs. I found a piece of furniture dumped and it's my favorite piece! All the antiques I've found all have different types of dovetailing on the drawers.

Hi Jason I have had a small chunkie frame about 12 inches by 11 for about 50 years, i got this frame from my mum who got it from an old woman just before she died .all the time i have had it every time a try to get some history i cant find any the frame has got some woodworm. and the joins have been done with old type wooden dowling and what looks like a hand made metal ring for hanging but the main interest to me is the pattern all round the frame is made of lead which can be moved carefully.every enquiry i have made no one has heard of this maybe you have.mr D Young london
Hi David, If you send us pictures of your frame we'll take a look. info@kcauctioncompany.com

Hi Raymond, You could send us some pictures and we'll take a look. info@kcauctioncompany.com
Great information but would be much more helpful if you would add clear close-ups of the marks themselves? Thanks!
I wish I knew how to add pics to my videos.
Hi Peggy, I wish I knew how to do that but these pieces were sold years ago. :)
That cabinet behind you is the twin of ny mother's which my sister sold out from under us before momma was in the ground
Hi Cindy, I bought this one at an auction several years ago. It was made in Kansas. Jason
