Hey friend! 👋 Interested to hear how your Maine Coon is doing with the LR4. Im in the market for one, deciding between the LR4 or the Neakasa M1 for the open concept and litter space. Im more inclined to trust the LR4 and Whisker as a company, but dont want to buy a product my Maine Coon wont use. Thanks! 😊

Citrus could be toxic to cats; I would consult with a vet about using lemon-scented items around them. It may not bother some cats. I just want to make sure cats are safe!

I bought a LR4 about 6 weeks ago and the one thing I learned right away is that what litter you use really matters a lot, despite the manufacturer's claim that "any clumping litter" will work. I was using a bargain basement clay clumping litter in my old litter boxes and when I started transitioning my cats to using the LR4, it turned into a near disaster (for me, not the cats) in that the litter I was using did not clump well enough and basically just turned into a big smelly, muddy clay mess inside the LR4. I did a lot of research on litters that work best with the LR4 and decided to try Arm & Hammer's "Hardball" litter and found that it works really, really well. I had been ready to clean the LR4 at the end of the first month and send it back for a refund (I had saved all the packaging materials it came with, just in case), but after switching litter brands, I am fully satisfied with the performance of the LR4. I have 4 cats, I am 70 years old w/increasing mobility issues, also have a limited income, so spending this kind of $$ on a cat waste system was very problematic for me. But I was coming very near to having to make the agonizing decision to re-home my cats due to my growing inability to deal with regular litter boxes, so decided to give the LR4 a shot, after months of research into ALL the various automated litter box options. I am very happy with the LR4, now that I have found a litter that works well. Slight caveat: I do not use my LR4 in automated mode, I trigger the clean cycles manually, using the buttons on the machine. This for a number of reasons: 1.) I do not own a smart phone and have no plans to buy one anytime soon. 2.) I am at home nearly 24/7 and within 12' of where my LR4 is located, in my bathroom. I am in the bathroom every few hours, so if I see any activity has occurred inside the LR4, it's really easy to trigger a clean cycle, it only takes 2 minutes or so for the cycle to complete. 3.) The majority of the complaints I have read about the LR4 have been regarding the software of the app is glitchy, and while I considered attempting to download the app to my desktop and run the device automatically from there, I have since changed my mind. The LR4 runs perfectly for my needs without the app or a smart phone, so why risk messing things up? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Bonnet removed on LR3 is driving me nuts. I now keep it off and turn it on via app one cycle a day because the 1st cycle never errors for me. The smell is also bad despite cleaning. I think it’s time to upgrade.

Thank you, this helped a lot. I had accidentally, somehow pressed the lockout button on the app so when I pressed the empty button on the Litter Robot it wouldn't work. I've only had this for two weeks so I was really confused. Your video made me feel better that I was doing the right thing (minus my error on the app). Thank you. 😊

How is it knowing which weight goes with which cat when their weights are similar?

Absolutely disappointed with the Litter Robot 4. The first unit took over a month and arrived assembled incorrectly and damaged, and the replacement stopped working within a couple of months. Dealing with customer service is frustrating; they're a call center in India, unreliable, and seem to have no interest in actually helping customers. Don't expect them to honor the warranty - they'll find any excuse to avoid responsibility.

I am hesitant to get the 4 because of my Maine Coons. My boy is 25 lbs and my female is 16 lbs and very long. They do fine with my 3.

Do you get the "bonnet is removed" or the "pinch trigger" error as often with the V4 as you do with the V3? Also, your $50 off link isn't working

Do you have problems with the litter sticking to the paws of long haired cats? That’s the only reason why I’m not sure to buy one

I have had the litter robot 4 for about 3 years now and it just broke. It was nothing but trouble from day one now I am buying the 3 connect instead

My liter robot smells no matter what >.> I do have an odor control and change the carbon filter all the time! The dang thing stinks at the top and I literally submerge it in water OFTEN and scrub it >.> idk what else to do other than throwing it out the window..

How many cats are using your litter robot?

Thank you for mentioning the odor with the LR3! I have asked for advice from Whiskers, other users, etc. and they always act like I’m crazy. The LR3 smells worse than an open box of litter. My cats are great about burying so that makes a difference. I had virtually no odor in my house before I got the LR3, but that thing is stinky. When I asked for advice, all I ever got back was I must not be cleaning it, or I’m using the wrong litter or whatever. It’s clear when you have a drawer full of cat waste that doesn’t seal, it’s going to stink, and no expensive little carbon filter in front of an air vent is going to make a difference. I was offended that LR made it sound like a “housekeeping” issue when I knew darn well that my regular old boxes scooped once a day were less stinky I now have a LR4, but since it’s sitting next to my old LR3 I can’t say for sure it’s less stinky, but just looking at the construction of the drawer it probably is. My LR3 was getting less and less reliable and I was getting ready to go on a trip. I had previously left a regular litter box out and told my cat sitter she only needed to scoop the regular box if she found the LR3 stuck upside down so the cats couldn’t use it. Now I have the two auto boxes and the LR4 has only gotten stuck once that I can recall-well I still set up a traditional box but there were no problems on the three days I was gone. But I know last night at some point the 3 had a “bonnet removed” error and while I still don’t know why that keeps happening (contacted support, they replaced the bonnet, the LR itself has a cover that keeps the cat from messing with it…don’t know why it keeps happening), at least it’s stuck so that the cats can still use it so I’ll fix it later.

The part that goes on the front to prevent litter from getting out, my cats kept knocking it off so I can’t use it 😩

With the liter robot 3 I have to reset it every time it cycles and I often get the blinking fast yellow light. Does liter robot 4 have any of these types of problems?
