Ah, Forest Gateau for Day 4-what a decadent name! It a dessert-inspired theme, its a rich and indulgent color, perfect for evoking winter coziness. ❤😊🎉🌳🦌❄️🧦🧣I really like it! Can’t wait to open mine as it’s my first scented ink as well. Nicely done Erin!
Wonderful ink. I thought it had a black currant type of smell, or blackberry. Anyway, I think you should not worry about Taytay stuff being polarizing, because we want to hear you talk about your Taylor Swift adventures with inks. Love that idea. Thank you, @The Joy in Pens and Paper.
Gateau is a cake based dessert, Black Forest is a traditional type with berries and forest fruits, it was very 70’s. You can also get chocolate, strawberry, toffee and chocolate. 😊
I have this one inked up too. I have it in an Esterbrook Estie with a cursive smooth italic nib. So far so good. I am also a fine and extra fine person. It is such a good green for the holidays.
Such a nice green! Very different than the first two but it tracks as an advent (which I associate with Christmas) color
Love this one. I have it inked up for December. My Dandelion Diaries compared this to cashmere rose and the wilted rose is more brown leaning where CR is more pink. It looks more like Opera Rose and Brunch date. At least to me.
Ooh! Interesting that I love brunch date and my eye didn’t see that as a comparable ink right away. I can certainly compare those three inks!!
@ yes please do. 😊
The dusty rose-brown is beautifully muted and romantic, with a vintage charm that feels cozy-like something you’d use in a journal by a roaring fire. Its warm tone balances the chill of Baltic Breeze, making them a thoughtful contrast for the first two days.❤🎉😊 Love your beautiful swatching Erin. Always makes me smile. I bought my first diamine inkvent calendar so it’s fun to open each day and then watch your videos.
What a beautifully poetic description!! I hope you come back each day to offer this gift! Also, it will make me smile knowing you’re on this journey with me!
Haha thought it said 'hello fir' as well.
Glad I’m not the only one 😂
Its doing alright in my jinhao with an extra fine nib so far. No cloggin or flow issues and shimmer in every line!
I’m a little nervous about this much shimmer but maybe a jinhao would be a low risk way to experience it!
@thejoyinpensandpaper890 yea that's what I figured, I am even going to leave it in there a while and try to gunk it up, just to test the limit 😆 feeling some chaos energy here 😅
I have two Jinhao 9019s with medium nibs that handle shimmer like a champion. I plan to put this ink in the green one to see how it goes.
Please let me know! The only jinhao I have is an extra fine (but another commenter said it handles shimmer like a champ), I might pick up a medium just to explore this ink!
@@thejoyinpensandpaper890 I have a LOT of Jinhaos. I love shimmer and they take shimmer better than any other pen I have to be honest. I don't buy very expensive pens though. The most expensive is from TWSBI or Fountain Pen Revolution Ultra Flex pen.
I’m thinking I’m going to have to find the right nib for this much shimmer. Maybe even my Twisbi go broad! I don’t think I want to chance it in one of my better pens! 😮 You also could use the ink without shaking it if you just want the color green without the shimmer.
Excellent suggestion!!! I may snag a jinhao with a medium nib (or an asvine… I’ve been eyeing that brand recently) so it’s a “low risk” exploration
I truly appreciate how they captured the rusty brown essence of ‘wilting,’ what an absolutely gorgeous color and color name. Perfect!
What a lovely comment! Thanks, I agree!
Such a beautiful ink picture! And to see your new pens inked up and flowing was a treat! 😊 …Holly is such a brilliant green, love it! Thank you for including it here!
Thank you! And thank YOU for your support!!! I appreciate you!
Love day two! And love the feelings the name evokes. Also those two look great next to eachoher !
They really do! They give a whole mood! I feel like adding twelfth night (Wearingeul) which is a pink with a blue shimmer might really round this out!
Yayyy! I'm happy to see you opening the Inkvent this year! I really like Baltic Breeze, but it remains to be seen which nib works best for me. I'm thinking a Twsbi Medium would probably be ideal for me. I started with it in a Montegrappa fine and it's not juicy enough.
I have a feeling I will be very overwhelmed with what to ink up for January because I’m going to have so many new options!
These inks are so beautiful, every day becomes Christmas-iike. I am filled with excitement and anticipation every day. Love this. Gorgeous shades this year. 1920s Noir vibes. Thank you, @The Joy in Pens and Paper.
You are most welcome! I was lusting over cashmere rose last year and I feel like this is similar which makes me very happy!
how do we send mail?
What do you mean?
I loved this #1 ink. It is dark, yet light blue, with heavy copper shimmer, which does rub off a bit. When I don't want shimmer I can just skip agitating the bottle. I am loving this Dark themed Diamine Inkvent 2024 Black Edition so far. I am already excited and happy about what I see. I will be doing them day by day, as it gives me joy, and holiday spirit.
For the amount that this costs it makes sense to do it day by day - what a wonderful way to start each day during a time of year that can be very stressful
I like the way you did this and am looking forward to the rest. Pretty color.
Thank you! I considered doing a longer writing sample but wanted to choose a format that was sustainable every day for 25 days - I am so excited to see what else is in this calendar!
Ooh, i'm loving this colour. I'm living inkvent through you this year as 1. funds are tight and 2. although i love looking at shimmer, i cannot stand it coming off on me in person. Looking forward to this ride :)
I used channel funds to purchase it so it’s viewers like you that helped me to afford it! Thank YOU for your support!
Great choices and beautiful pens. Would you recommend the opus 88, how is the nib?
I love it but I think a fine or medium nib would be better. I have been looking to get some additional nib units. I love the ink capacity and the general size and weight of the pen but the ink flow can be finicky. I do notice it depends a lot on the writing angle which is why I think a broader nib may be helpful
@@thejoyinpensandpaper890 Thank you, this was really helpful. I have wanted one for some time and maybe one day i'll go for it.
Liking the choices you got this month. I am sad I didn't get to vote. lol Life happens. Winter spice and Vintage copper are my favorites.
Winter spice is the one I “messed up” on as it was supposed to be the one below it (stargazer) but so far I am loving winter spice in the Pelikan!
@ it was meant to be 😁.
I am excited to see your reactions to all the colors. I did a spoiler video, hehe. I want to make it a point to try each and every one in a pen. Even the ones I am not crazy about.
I had to stop myself from watching your spoiler video!!! Now that I’ve done day one I will watch yours bit by bit (if I remember correctly your video was unboxing and swatching all of them, yes?)
@ yes I unboxed and swatched. I'm glad you are waiting to do them day by day. It makes it fun. I think I unboxed first and then swatched after I unboxed them all.
Love that we got two videos today! That Sailor feedback is the best!
I struggled with whether two videos was too much and then realized on Thursdays this month there will be two videos and when I do a pen and ink review as well as my ink choices for January… so I’m just leaning in!
beautiful collection, thanks for sharing
Thank you!!! And you’re most welcome! It brings me joy to share this hobby
When we met with Mike, I tried his Stealth Vanishing Point and liked it. Yesterday, I was able to trade one of my Lamy 2000 pens that I didn’t want anymore with someone on Discord who didn’t want their Stealth VP anymore. I’m so excited! Also, because of trying your Platinum 3776, I decided to trade my extra Pelikan M800 nib (plus I paid some money) for a Platinum 3776 at the Pelikan Hub. I’m very happy with my Platinum 3776 (with a broad nib), so thank you! BTW, the pen I showed you when we met last is an “Alchemist” (I accidentally said “Alchemy”), and it needed fresh ink, so it may not have been writing great when you tried it. Sorry about that!
No worries!!! I love that we have our little community of contemporary fountain pen enthusiasts! We should start our own pen meetups!
@ It’s like a dream come true for me to finally meet people in-person who are interested in fountain pens like I am! It would be fun if our meet-up group grew. Someday, I would like to meet Sugar Turtle, who has a TH-cam channel and lives in Boston.
Like I say to the students that I work with, the worst that can happen is the person can say no and if you ask sweetly they’re likely to say yes. Let’s be sweet, together!
Great start! I can’t wait to hear more about how you plan to use the inks throughout the year. Will you do an Inkvent favorites video?
I love that idea! I think that would be an excellent way to wrap it up! I’m hoping for some new and fun inks to use in my three inks videos
Beautiful pen
Thank you so much! I have had this on my wishlist for many months and have been patiently waiting
I just received some Stormy Gray. I’m looking forward to using it. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy these.
You are most welcome!!! I love watching your videos - how are you doing your currently inked swatches? I love the cross hatching!
I Hope you had a wonderful time with family. Stormy grey looks interesting - maybe I need to look at J. Herbin inks. Not sure if I’m as Brave as you to use shimmer inks in my expensive EF/F pens. The cheap ones, for sure.
I think because I used this ink in my very first vanishing point I didn’t even think to be cautious. I’ve had residual shimmer but I don’t mind that - otherwise I haven’t had any negative effects
Happy Thanksgiving :)
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I love these inks and haven’t tried any so I’ll be adding all three to my wishlist 😀😀 I’m currently using Dominant Industry Tuna Grey and loving it. It amazes me how different greys can show up. Thanks for another fun video. Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🦃
I really want to try Tuna Grey! Someday…
Congratulations on all your new pens! The Marmo Bianco is still one of my favourite purchases of this year.
I have been eyeing the Marmo Bianco since you did your unboxing! Thank you for all your inspiration and excellent content!
Beautiful pen. I’m curious what the “mini” means in the cursive smooth italic. Thanks for sharing.
My assumption is that it may be slightly finer than a regular CSI on a medium nib… but I could be very wrong!
Beautiful ✨
Thank you! I am really enjoying watching how my writing looks with this nib and how the ink dries down
Oooo. I paused my video… did you get the beautiful frosted white with blue nib?!? Ok, watching now! …Nope! lol! Still a brilliant pen!
I didn’t but now I want to see this beautiful white frosted pen with a blue nib
Beautiful Pen. What ink was used, the transcription did not catch it. Thanks.
Birmingham Pen Co Distressed Leather
All three of your new pens are beautiful. Rachelle in Seattle
Thank you so much, Rachel!! I totally agree but I might be biased
Beautiful pen! Thanks for sharing.
Most welcome! I continue to think about your recovery and I hope each day is a step towards progress!
@ I appreciate you! Have a good Thanksgiving.
This is a stunning pen! I’m so happy for you 🎉
Thank you so much! It’s beautiful and I love a good pen story
Great new addition to your collection Erin. It’s gorgeous. You should name it.😊
I am spending some time with it to see if a name jumps out at me - the name Stella just came forward so perhaps that’s an option
Congrats Erin! Enjoy your new pens, this one is stunning 😍
Thank you!!! I literally waited all year for this one!
Wow. You are buying a lot of pens ! 😮
I saved for the last year for fountain pen day so I definitely bought a couple of pens!
Thank you for doing this!!! I so desperately want to find a dupe for sandstone but nothing is quite like it. The salt marsh I have is much different than the sandstone, yours looks closer!
I love, and hate, that BPC inks vary so much. I kind of like it because it’s real and not mass marketed but to your point, when you’re trying to get a certain experience it can be challenging when the consistency isn’t there
Erin your choice of inks always makes me so jealous so love that you do these videos so I can learn what inks you have and then I make my list of inks I will then purchase. BPC Saltmarsh on Tomoe is my favorite. I am surprised SM was darker than BPC sandstone. I am definitely going to get Saltmarsh and Ploughman’s Pebble😊
Ploughman’s Pebble is really fun in a wet nib. You can see the beautiful shading in the letters, especially when doing block lettering. I have it inked in my Pelikan. I’ll try it in a finer nib soon to see what that experience is like
thank u for uploading
You are most welcome!
Nice addition to your collection ! I have been eyeing that one myself on the Stilo&Stile website, but so far other models have always attracted me more. ;) It‘s good to see that it‘s so different to the Estie Sea Glass, that was one of my reasons not to get the Jade until now. We‘ll see. ;) Oh, and it‘s FU-RO-RE, by the way… so many people call it the Fiore and I slightly cringe each time I hear the word pronounced that way. Not that my Italian is so perfect… 😂
Thank you for the pronunciation guide! I will practice saying it the right way because I value pronouncing things correctly! I am happy it is different than the Sea glass resin but rationalized that it was different because it had gold accents rather than rhodium
Erin, great video. I love your eye when it comes to what you choose to add to your collection. It’s a happy fountain pen as always, which makes me happy for you.❤😊 Love the color way. What is it currently inked with? Love you’re choice of the Mini Cursive Italic nib grind🎉. I give it a 10 on the nib grind scale🖋️🖋️🖋️🖋️🖋️ 🖋️🖋️🖋️🖋️🖋️ Looking forward to what’s next.
The ink is Birmingham Pen Co Megalodon (it may be a “bad batch” and I have a replacement bottle from BPC to swatch to compare, although the swatch they sent me looks the same).
Also, THANK YOU! I always appreciate your comments and feedback 😊
I love Leonardo pens. I got this one last year and its STUNNING!!! Cant wait to see what the rest of what you got looks like ❤
It is really really beautiful and I love the blind cap feature at the end for filling (although I definitely still unscrewed the body to check the fill level - twice)
@ wait til you try a GRANDE model! (With a piston! ) I find the Momento Zero Grande to be my favorite pen.
Oooh, did you also get the exclusive Radius from Stilo & Stile? I did (with the Gena Salorino reverse architect!), and I really love it. After trying the Radius I now have a Momento Grande on my wish list. 😊 If you have the Radius, do you find the feel of the pen in your hand similar to a the Leonardos? Looking forward to seeing what else you got on FPD!
In the words of Jimmy Fallon… “Maaaayyyybeeeee” - I have two more videos to release for fountain pen day 😊
I love this color palette! Thank you so much for sharing! ❤
You are so welcome! I’m planning my December palette and just posted a video on Sunday with the inks that I’m considering
