Ooh that 1970 Kaweco is cool as heck
Ughhh my 2nd pen is on its way, it’s that iridescent pearl Kaweco. I cannot wait it’s so gorgeous 🤩
I don’t think I could get used to the pen clip where I write on the vanishing. I saw your comment on someone else’s ink review video, said your state (I won’t repeat) but I just wanted to say hi! We are in the same state! Are there ever any meetups that are welcoming for newbies?
Hmmmm….Mint Twist, Sunset Blush, your mix, Don Quixote, and Cranberry
The 5 I would pick…. 1. Taccia Ume Murisaki , 2. Sailor Ink Studio 252, 3. Diamine Twist (as Diamine produces a very nice experience in most of their shimmer inks). 4. BPC Ploughmans Pebble and last but definitely not least the Trust U .
Taccia Ume Murisaki, I adore this ink, however I have it loaded permanently in my Visconti Homo Sapiens BronzeAge with an EF nib. BEAUTIFUL writer with this ink (to be fair I havent tried anything else because I adore this so so so so much!) It is VERY pink and not much brown in that combo. I NEED to try this is a MUCH wetter pen now. I got a bottle of the Don Quixote in my search of the perfect warm pink with brown undertones too. However I find that one to be quite dry in comparison to the Taccia. DEFINITELY ink up the UME MURISAKI, the experience is delightful.
I am a sucker for shading and haloing, so my votes are for: BPC Ploughman’s Pebble; Inkebarra Brown Gray; your mix! Exciting; Trust U (so cool!); and BPC Sunset Blush Also, btw, I did pick up a Jinhao 82, fine nib, per our comments together on a previous video, and am loving it! Thanks for the suggestion! I have it inked up with Moonstone
Thank you for your choices! I’m so glad you like the jinhao 82 - it’s always nerve wracking to make a recommendation because pens and inks are very personal!
Lovely ink swatches! I love how semi muted they are. Birmingham Pen Co inks are definitely becoming a favorite of mine. Happy Writing ❤
Thank you so much! I’m definitely in a muted era right now! One commented called this palette “romantic” and I love that so much and wish I had thought of that!
@thejoyinpensandpaper890 oh! That is a PERFECT theme name for those colors! 💚💚💚
Trust U is in stock at *_Desk Bandit_* , they're located in Australia, so I don't know what the shipping will be.
Oh thank you!!! I’ll check it out - perhaps shipping is free with a bigger order (and this is the trap I consistently fall into!)
What a wonderful areay of colors! Its a tough choice this time around. Personally Im most drawn too: BPC Sunset Blush Inkebara Brown Gray Sailor Ink Studio #252 (I adore this ink but it is similar to the next one so you might not want to use both at the same time. I think it would look stunning in one of your white pens). Your custom ink definetly belongs in the mix Tono & Lims Trust U (which I think would be a perfect match for your Laban Rosa in Lilac) Honorable mentions to Diamine Cranberry and Diamine Mint Twist because I'd be super happy to see either of those as well!
Your comment/contribution just filled me with joy! I agree with the Laban Rosa Lilac being the perfect fit for Trust U! I also love Laughing Kookaburra next to Mint Twist - my eyes are seeing a bit of the green in the more saturated parts of the swatch… if I don’t pick it this month perhaps next month it will be back!
I like these colors, they are a little brighter than your usual blues, dark browns and greens. I seem to be more partial to purples lately. For February I am using pens that I have only used once in 2024. I also plan to use bright pinks, purples and some gold shimmer inks. Thanks for sharing.
I am going to try to be more intentional with using all my pens and include a more entry level pen each month. I enjoy flipping through these new pages of the inks I’m thinking of for each month because it is fascinating to see how the palette shifts
😇🩵🙏🙌
This is a gorgeous set of inks and has some of my faves like ploughmans pebble and the laughing kookaburra’s crest. Now I also really want to try the BPC Sunset blush - it’s lovely! (And your mix is beautiful).
Ploughman’s Pebble is a stunner and I keep wanting to play with it! I also am really interested in trying out the mix I made to see how it behaves
Looks like you can purchase Trust U at Saiko Stationery. They appear to carry a lot of of Tono and Lims. For the picks, of course Trust U and then Cranberry, Ploughman's Pebble, Brown Gray and Mint Twist.
Oh thank you! I’ll check that vendor out! Thank you, as always!, for your participation 😊
So pretty! I would love to see Colorverse Irs Nebula, your mix, Trust U, and maybe cranberry?
As the swatches really dried down, the mix I made and Iris Nebula are very similar which is interesting!
All such lovely inks. My picks are Cranberry, Sunset Blush, Don Quixote, Sailor 252 and Trust U.
Thank you!!! I love your combination!
Lovely choices... I'm drawn to Diamine Cranberry, Stonecutters song, Ploughmans pebble, Wearingeul x BPC mix & Trust U. I really like Brown Gray too.
Thank you!! I think of you when I do this… and while I’m staring at it because it’s just such a pretty page!
@ Awe... 😊 I love doing mine and looking at it too. I like how you have bigger swatches. Mine are kinda small.
Here are my picks for the romantic take for February : Sunset Blush, Stonecutter’s song, Don Quixote, Sailor 252 and your custom mix
Thank you! I looked back and you also threw in a vote for sunset blush previously! I think this is the right month for it, and I’ve been itching to use it so thank you for validating my life choices!
Beautiful Inks! Hard to choose, but my favorites are sunset blush, stonecutters song, brown grey, sailor studio 252 and your custom mix.
Thank you!!! I love that combination!
Beautiful greens. I inked up Noble fir in my Esterbrook Estie with a cursive smooth italic nib I had done by Kirk Spear and I loved it. It was so beautiful and the shimmer was throughout the writing. 💚
What was your experience with getting a nib ground by Kirk spear? What was the wait time?
@ I actually went to a pen show and had it done. I have a few done by him and it has been fantastic each time. He even repaired my son's nib and it turned out great. I would recommend him every time. I am unsure if you had to mail it in. But if you emailed Im sure he could give you a close time frame.
The first time I opened Noble Fir, I thought it was called Noelle Fir, and then I watched a video about the ink later and was like 🤦♀️ - I love the star bright shimmer! Green Tomato is such a lovely color, and I also thought of Fried Green Tomatoes! I’m going to have to watch that movie again soon! shin-ryoku is such a beautiful ink. Can’t go wrong with an iroshizuku! Thanks for sharing !
I wish I knew sooner how amazing iroshizuku inks are as I would have bought a bottle of the beautiful brown that I discontinued… one of the new iroshizuku inks is brown-ish and I’m considering buying it. I’m glad I’m not the only one who struggled to read the name of Noble Fir 😂

Love the Green Tomato ink! I like how it has a tinge of yellow underneath, really captures the organic fruit in its name!
I really like it too! Very excited to ink this up and see what it’s like to write with!
Tfs...1st time seeing these videos from you. I love green inks & am always interested in new ones. I also enjoy shimmering inks, so Noble Fir is DEFINITELY the one I would try. I may order a sample later this year to use when writing ✍️ my holiday cards.
Thank you for watching!! This would be a great color for the holidays - the ink I used for addressing my holiday cards was underwhelming as the envelope is not fountain pen friendly paper but this one may give that special pop that I was going for
Wishing Tree, Wilted Rose, Pennsylvania Fieldstone Petrified Wood, Nutmeg, Ina-Ho
Great ink swap selection. I recently tried Birmingham inks for the first time and was very pleased with how they performed.
Which color(s) did you try?
@ I got Cold Steel, Kyanite, distressed leather, Lake Erie, Kalamata olive tree, and emerald tree monitor. I got enough to get free shipping. 🙂 They are all lovely and a pleasure to write with. Kyanite is my favorite because it’s different than any of my other inks.
All caught up! What lovely colors; that Beethoven one is very nice.
I agree!!! I find myself immediately thinking “what could I pair this with to do a three inks” with each new ink that I swatch
I’m there for it! 🖋️
Very nice swatches! 😇🩵🙏🙌
Thank you! 🤗
This was so interesting! I definitely see the differences in swatches and the similarities. It would be fascinating to swatch both inks on the cream scrap paper from the Birmingham swatch, and then compare it to their swatch! Inky science! 🧪
I might be able to do that! I do have some cream Tomoe river paper but I also might still have a scrap left from when I tore part of it off to stick it in my ink/pen notebook
Yay! Marley is back! 🥰 of course, this shows how far behind I am in your wonderful videos! 😂
No worries on being behind!!! I’m appreciate you being part of this community!
So behind on the videos. 😣 the inks on the papers are so interesting… it’s almost as if the bank paper color and the cosmo paper color had a baby, which is the tomoe river paper color. You can see both hues of the inks on the other papers in the tomoe swatch!
I 100% agree! (And I just filmed the video for next week and spoiler alert I think that happens again!)
Love the pinks.
They’re so pretty, for sure! So far with wilted rose I’m noticing the first few sentences are darker - but that could be the pen I’m using.
@ Ive noticed certain inks do that in pens that don't seal as good as others.
That’s exactly what I was thinking and it’s a Lamy safari so I’m not surprised
😇🩵🙏🙌
"Hobonichi planning" gets views, I do also look for they while I am doing my own planning, I don't even use hobonichi 🤣 but
Good to know!!! I have been thinking of bringing back some kind of planning/Hobonichi video
My cats are the same! 😂
This is the skittish cat so I was surprised he jumped up on the desk and stayed there for quite a while! I considered picking him up so I could start filming but then he may not come near me for days/weeks!
@ 😂
I had a bunch of recent inks being VERY much more muddy and gray than the online swatches, and Birmingham was wonderful in sending replacements. That said, I'll be waiting for reviews on their more dusty chromashaders from now on, for certain, and not jumping on release like I did on that collection
They do make a lot of effort to make it right. Thankfully, even if the ink doesn’t match the online swatch, I still like the color and it’s so well behaved!
Hm, mine is clearly brown...
It’s so interesting… it definitely darkens when it dries but I don’t think I’d call it a brown
Woah, nice planning!
Thank you!
I think bringing out an entry level pen for your currently inked would be so great! I think you might find new favorite pens! I go through all of mine. My favorite ink and pen pairing will probably be in everyday rotation from now on. It is a cheap Platinum desk pen from Amazon (which is a snap cap and does not dry out) that is perfection with Platinum Carbon Black. I use my highlighters together with it when I am planning.
I included one in my January currently inked so I will try to do that each month!
@@thejoyinpensandpaper890 I will check that out now! 👍
Oh, what a great surprise that had to be from your work colleague! (The TWSBIs Go pens and the Diamine Inkvent) 😊
Yes it was!
My Sipliv dip pen from Amazon did the very same thing, and I used washi tape! I since then haven't been gravitating to it because of the loose part!
Did you find that the washi tape didn’t make it secure?
@thejoyinpensandpaper890 it worked pretty good, but when it came to washing it it bothered me.
Happy New Year!! yay for 3 ink Thursday
It’s baaaack!
@ 😁🙌🏼
Happy New Year, Erin!
Happy new year to you as well!!
Happy New Year 🎉
Happy new year to you as well!!
Great pairings this month! I have Penn. Fieldstone inked up as well but I added a smidge of Wearingeul Brave Glitter potion and just love it! I like making my own shimmery inks. Happy New Year to you and the fam!!
I may try exploring mixing inks this year - I’m just nervous! I have also eyed the shimmer potions from Wearingeul and I’m intrigued by them
Beautiful inks. Love them. Happy New Year. Hi I am Helen.
Hi, Helen!!! Happy new year to you as well! I hope you are feeling rejuvenated with the start of a new year
Great choices. I’m also thinking of Wilted Rose and Marley. I wish BPC would bring back Pennsylvania Fieldstone.
I hope so too! I have the itch to use all the pens with the start of a new month. My first journal entry was Pennsylvania Fieldstone
Happy New Year! I like the way you are doing this and I look forward to seeing it develop. I’m starting a new ink catalog too, but it’s in a bound book because that’s what I have and I too am trying to use what I have. Thanks for trying to show the Kakimori hack with the washi. I might still try it. 🙂
The washi gives a snug fit, that’s for sure! 😂 it will come out, but it will just need a little more elbow grease than what I could use while filming. It may also require some words of frustration 😂
Love your new set up! Looking forward to watching your progress.
Thank you so much! I’m so happy you’re back!
