Skipton Camerata is a professional orchestra based in Skipton, North Yorkshire. The orchestra’s core purpose is to perform classical music to a national standard in areas of limited to nil provision, making it possible for audiences in rural locations to experience artists and repertoire that their urban counterparts take for granted.
Soundscapes - an immersive audio-video installation
Soundscapes is an immersive audio-video installation created by projection artist Michaela French and composer Ben Crick showcasing the diverse scenery of the Yorkshire Dales. Projected inside a purpose-built hemispherical dome, Soundscapes combines 360° videography with a symphonic soundtrack inspired by the landscape.
The Soundscapes project was created by Ben and Michaela with Skipton Camerata, Skipton Town Hall and the Department of Architecture and Built Environment. Thanks also to Buro Happold, Hadley Interiors, Field Graphics, XR Stories and Exclusively Inclusive. And thanks to the project funders Arts Council England, Skipton Building Society and The Tarn Moor Estate.
