How to Get a Homemade Trailer Title in Indiana
I bought this trailer with no title and no VIN number. I talk about the process to get one. I used letter punches from Harbor Freight to stamp the number into the trailer tongue.

Rebuilding the Brakes On My 1975 Honda Civic Pt. 1: Master Cylinder

Car: 1975 Honda Civic CVCC 1.5l 4spd (with trunk) In this video I show how I rebuilt the master cylinder for my car using parts from a new master cylinder. When I got the car the brake pedal was stiff. I couldn't move it. The master cylinder is located on the passenger side and so there is a ~1.5 in bar that runs across the firewall to the booster linkage. I assumed it was either this bar or th...

Changing Rear Wheel Bearings Astro Safari

After towing a k10 home, I had some wheel bearing noise.
Great vid man. Thanks
Dude, that is a terrible jack point. You could end up with a bent differential cover which will leak.
So the police inspection happens prior to mailing it to the BMV and then they send another form to have. 2nd police inspection ? Is that correct ?
Yes. First one is to verify no VIN present. The second that you correctly stamped it on the trailer
Thank you very much. You were right and it worked for me 👍🏻
Thanks for this info. Very good information on this process. BMV should link to your video for instructions. Well Done!
What a cluster F**k
Thanks brother for the information very helpful
I did find this helpful. Thanks. I was nervous about the idea but this makes it seem much more plausible. You have expanded my trailer search possibilities!!
This has been quite a tough process for me in Indiana, i started off with doing all this paperwork like you but the worst was having a police officer come. Now where i live its free for vin inspections, but the first time the officer came he said that he himself was not authorized to do the inspection. But a week later i called to have an inspection again and the exact same officer came and did the inspection and signed off on it that time. I then sent in my paperwork but forgot to write rhe word "Homemade" so i hade the paperwork sent back to me and i just had to write that one word. A week later i got my MVIN and i made a vin at Work out of a piece of aluminum and affixed it to the drivers side of the tongue. I also got a paper for the T-1N form for a cop to verify the vin, but yet again i had an officer come to my house today just to verify the vin i made and he said he himself could not do it and that this time i actually have to go to the police station and set up an appointment with the traffic division. This has been a very frustrating few months just to take my fuckin boat out
Jesus, what county are you in?
@@MrFlyboy71 I live in the USA, I'm in Indiana. It was about 2 more weeks after this post I finally got it all figured out. I had to go to the police station, the chief came out and looked for half a second then proceeded to call the officer that came to my house an idiot 💀💀
Hey nicely done, do you roughly remember what your welder settings were for that job?
What kind of noise was it making? I’ve got a howling noise only between 55 and 60
I am currently doing the same, what do I need to do on section 3 of form 12907 where it asks to "check major component parts used to assemble vehicle or watercraft"? It looks like you put something in the "other" category but it's blanked out. Do I need to do anything there?
Exactly, I'm filling mine out now and don't know what to put there
@raytard96 So on mine I just put no parts used from other trailer and they took it, if you bought yours like I did mine be sure to include the bill of sale. Atleast that's how I had to do mine, I bought mine from Kentucky where they don't have to be registered or anything.
10:15 Aho! Ok.... then we take the bigger breaking bar and the big hammer and beat right on the hedge of the brake pad right where there is the least amount of leverage to execute the task...
Only looked like the bar was resting on the brake pad. It was not. Look closer. There is a reason the side of the seal was deformed.
Do you think you would have had problems if trailer didn't "look homeade" at all.??
no the trailer need to not have a vin and not be stolen the harbor freight trailers are not registered and need this done
How long was the complete process start to finish?
Was your mvin only 13 characters as well? Just did this and they sent me a 13 character vin to attach to the trailer...thats why im asking... i know a vin should be 17 characters
Super helpful. Did you tell the officer who came out the first time that you bought it or did you really have to play along that it was homemade?
I told him that I bought it off someone who had built it.
How do I get a police office to come check it. Also in Indiana. M
Call your Sherriff's Dept and tell them you need to have a Physical ID done of your trailer and they will schedule a time or have an available officer come out. They will bring the proper form for you to get started with acquiring your VIN 😉
hey wassap man! whats your exhust set up? thanks for the video too i got 2 bad rear bearings, its the same awd and rwd?
V8 swap, headers, and 2 cherry bombs. Yea, it's the same awd to rwd.
I just built my trailer, and submitted the documents to the bmv, you said about a week after you sent them in they charged your card, but is it a week after including weekends or was a “business week” after you submitted your paperwork
Sorry, I don't remember.
Thank you so much, random youtuber, your random how to video saved me alot of headache and stress.
Same. Saved me a lot of time and frustration. Thanks for posting this video.
Thanks for the video, I'm lived in Wisconsin before, we didn't need to register or plate. I have 3 trailers to make it legal now I'm in Indiana. Question, I don't see fenders on your trailer, do you know if they are required in Indiana. Thanks again.
I'm not aware of a requirement for fenders.
Nice
thanks for this video
Great video. I wanna hear that thing running with those glass packs. I bet it sounds sick.
I am in Indiana as well and just got my MVIN today in the mail, It took a week and a half from start to finish. Mine was a boat trailer, it was really fast and easy. Thanks for your video that was what I followed to do mine. I sent a color picture also and put a value on it at 600.00
You know what the real trick is you take a piece of three-quarter rigid pipe and you go right through the other side and push it right out you knock it right out it goes right through the differential knocks it out man I've seen them do it a hundred times you don't need that fancy tool
I have a trailer that is clearly not a homemade trailer but I cannot find the vin and I only have the bill of sale do you think the cops would say anything if there was a ez loader name on the side of it
Why can't you remove the name? Is it just painted on?
Didn't pre lube bearings?
They are lubed by the gear oil that they are submerged in. Why would I need to pre-lube them?
Thanks for saving me a nonstop headache 🙏🏼🙏🏼
So trailer I’ve got didn’t come with any paper work so I checked it over for any serial numbers and I didn’t find any which I assumed it was homemade. Started replacing some things and I ran into a tongue weight and where is seems to have been made by a dealership maybe. What should I do about it just leave it alone?
I would probably see what it's gonna take to get a title the "right" way, then decide. If you can't find a vin number at all though then I would just try and get a homemade trailer title.
Did u mail all the forms at the same time.
Yes
How did they know to put it was a 1 axel im in the process of the same thing here in Indiana but my trailer is dual axel
You have to submit a picture with your application
Pittsburg!? Harbor Freight Tools!
That vans days are numbered with all that underbody rust. The left side looks like it's ready to start structurally failing.
Where are you from? You wouldn't want to see my car then 😁
Hello brother I also have TH-cam videos on restoring 1st generation firebirds and I need this for the last one that I picked up a 68 firebird how can you help me out I really need your help on getting the title for this car
Do you have a specific question?
@@matts_projectgarage9007 Yes I don't have no idea of how to do it
Thank you for getting back to me I really appreciate your help your help I need to have a title for this car to move forward with it
Hello sir I was Wondering if you can help me do the same thing for my car there's any way you could contact me please let me know I am also a youtuber
Hey, I like the hub caps but didn't get a good look at them. Will u tell me where u got them?
Thanks. I hear all the time how horrible of a process you have to go through in Indiana to get a title for homemade trailers but your experience seems to show different. Not feeling as crazy with wanting to build my own now.
Q+
Will this work for a 1965 airstream trailer?
I'm not sure
Too bad the only way to get a cop around here is to call 911
Good info. Thanks 👍
How do you weigh it can you go to a CAT scale for semis?
I'm not sure. I weighed mine at a scrapyard, but I just guessed the weight when asked originally.
8 MM and 5/16" wrenches are interchangable.
Did you ever sell the car? And how much did you get for it? I assume you sold it for at least $1500
I didn't sell the car.
“9/11 was an inside job” You’re god damn right 😂
No inspection sticker ??
It was sent separately. It just wasn't on there when I took the picture.
Don’t talk loud enough!
How long did that take?
Start to finish was about 3 hours.
