Hallo Oliver Roland fp30x IS MARVELLOUS
hey how are you, on a scale of one to ten how would you rate the Roland dj 505?

Thanks! The best demo/review🎉
Roland give us the choice of what preset style of music we want
Supernatural engine - is definitely Not a per key sampling - But a modelling so an engine renders the sound by calculating/modelling it // the opposite e.g. GoKeys(1) main piano is a real sampled piano - I can hear the little imperfections , rezonances of different sounds - I like bought // BTW FP10 has a less realistic Supernatural sound - and the key action and touch sensitivity also a little different - The sound : at the start of the sound there is no a hammer hitting sound intro - and less bass at every key - more thin less complex sound - The key action: has less sensitivity differences in touch curve - I used FP10 with superlight - FP30x normal and light - only sometimes with very long playing probably I hit polyphony limit and sound started to lag strongly - BUT I used FP10 for more years and I had no real complaints.... and probably I will not sell it - I can use the PH4 keys for any DIY project
I love my JDXi. Have to say it doesn't "fuse" analog and digital, it does one or the other. The analog synth is also routed thru a digital delay and reverb section (even if those effects are on or off) which means it is NOT actually analog in the proper sense. It is a pity the 3rd party editor was never completed but having said that the editor is awesome as it stands and really shows how much is under the bonnet of this device, in particular the fact the drums can be a stack of 4 sounds per note! Huge power.
I love my small JDXi
What a Bass. Wow.
The Jupiter strings are amazingly lush
I've seen a couple of people complaining about the keys stop working properly. It won't happen if you use the keyboard as a keyboard. If you want to drum tap, buy some PADs and hook it up. Not rocket science...
Well, this babe is part of Alan Walker's rig, soooo...
Great review, thanks Oliver i think i can find a space in my studio for this !
wow i have this in the closet and used it once forgot all about this
P.S this is a great gear demo of for most, their favourite little plasticky beast.
Indeed or literally repackage the same damn thing BUT in a full size key form. BUT they coulda sorted out that sequencer lacking song mode and pattern chaining. That was a MASSSIVE error on Roland’s part. And a few more external outputs. If that hadn’t been excluded the jdxi would already be a desirable classic that it deserves to be.
best review, perfect scheme about the futures like oscillator section. continue in this way
Does it respond to external aftertouch message from a MIDI controller?
Great video! keep up the good work!
I cannot find compatible expression pedal for this.
I bought mine purely for the drums in particular the cr-78 kit. Ive got to say that based on drums alone, its simply fantastic.
Exactly
sounds great , , but the build quality is very poor , sent it back.
Sorry to say, unfortunately, the keys break very easily..😢
Such a wonderful, weird ass synth. Genuinely one of the top 5 instruments of all time in terms of just banging out a bar of...well...anything.
The keys are ridiculously small !!! I cant stand it 😡
I can't get rid of it , I love the arpegiator too much 🤷🏻♂️
Are you trying to get a job at one of the keyboard manufacturers? These videos come off like ads.
I’ve had one for a while now, and still need to deep dive into it. Lots of great patches available online. Very big sound for a lil’ guy.
Excellent video. Is that a Wearside accent i hear there? I was looking at one of these, but i heard that they are very plastic and flimsy feeling, also apparently the keys are easy to break (especially the black ones) got to admit that they sound really nice.
I had the 808 and 707.........i wish i kept them both.
Very nice review, and beautiful playing. I think I'll buy one of these.
bro... love this thing to death... almost 10 years going strong, analog synth, supernatural digital synth, classic drum sounds and a groovebox... for that price... absolute killer synth even taking in consideration weak keyboard... i mean it's perfectly capable as a module.
An excellent machine... made even better now that I sequence it externally from the Korg Electribe ES2. Why would I want to externally sequence the Roland SH-4d from the Electribe you might (not) be asking? Well, because the Electribe has a song-mode and can externally sequence up to 16 devices. So now I can pattern-chain my SH-4d via the Electribe! While I don't really do tutorials, I'm sure watching several of my videos might actually be of some help to at least showcase what can be done by syncing multiple synths and grooveboxes via midi... and maybe some of you will dig the jams.
👍i LoVe ! 💙⚪❤
My biggest complaint--lack of an actual volume know. Why a button?? Horrible.
A brilliant review of a insane baby synth selling at a criminally low price! 😀
this channel is too underrated i like this overview
This thing is future classic like SH-101 or TB-303.
"The PCM model offers a vast selection of sample-based sounds". There's 53. By comparison I believe there are hundreds (4 banks of 128? 256? of PCM partials) on the MC-101 and MC-707.
I was eyeing up the MC-707 but was scared off due to the menues and overwhelming number of options/samples. I hope my videos prove that at least I don't need 12000 PCM samples to make mental fucking jams. However, I do need to be able to have my own samples. Just not banks and banks of them. I think you will agree that I have made excellent use of the Korg Drumlogue's whopping 32mb of storage... one or two of the 53 PCM samples from the SH-4d (I mostly just build my own synths and prefer the lack of menu-diving), and the Polyend Play for all 'dialogue-based-samples'. Full disclosure: my wife stole my MPC and started using that. So now, because we are using the MPC, I guess I can't claim to be DAWless anymore. But before that, every finished track was DAWless... and only created using the Drumlogue, SH-4d, Polyend Play, and occasionally a Behringer Edge, Korg Electribe and Volca Sample2. It is possible!! Though the Drumlogue was not intuitive for the first few weeks. Now, I would not trade it for the world! We just gotta start doing some shows. Anyhoo... Cheers from the land of Delco!
I was mostly just trying to point out (obviously not successfully) that this video is full of hyperbole. It’s more hyperbolic than Roland’s own marketing material.
@@Geekraveryeah this guy sounds like a Roland advert "it's not just an instrument, it's a gateway to endless sonic exploration" script was either written by someone in marketing or he's never seen a synthesizer before
The analog synth is just a gimmick. The digital engine can do everything the analog one. It would be better with 3 digital tracks, and better sequencer, by which I mean more steps.
True. But the limitations of the analog part make it very simple and fun to use.
@@Acrimonious_Snake it's limited indeed. But how is that fun ? It just increases the price, and those handy analog controls could have been used on all voices, which then would work exactly the same.
Is it possible to play saxophone sound using special apps? Is it good enough?
Hallo, yes it's possible using Roland App Every day but....the great quality samples is with Supernatural engine!!!! We must remember that this is a digital piano, not a keyboard!!!! And acoustic piano voices are so amazing and natural!!!!😊😊😊
@antonioperillo1182 thanks for the answer.

Well done, I have been looking to add this to my synth collection and by far you have got it's key points across better than some of the other mainstream videos out there.Well done Oliver, Thank you.
11 minute ad with extra bland corporate prose. :(
😂
I am never giving mine up. Perfect for coming up with quick ideas
Got. FP90 x beat’s sampled notes ‘ software generated & ‘ unlimited polyphonic great playability’ great key action pha 50 ❤
Why don't you talk about the limitations of this device? - Menu diving ... - Missing song mode ... - No touch sensitiv keys - Storing a pattern and sounds is solved independent ... altering a sound will brake existing patterns - D-Motion - when will you ever have your hands free to move your synth? - Do not expect any feature update from the manufacturer But the Synth is still a part of my setup! I enjoy the sounds I can design so straight forward.
I started my trip to electronic music with this versatile synth. Here the draw backs: - Keypad with non responding keys after >2 years of use - no song mode - no software updates or new features added by the manufacturer - midi channels are fixed and not customizable ... but it is still part of my setup. Enjoy!
Excellent vid 👌
i love most of roland piano sound except the forced integra SuperNaturel behavior piano sound
Roland app is garbage though.
