The Obvious But Underappreciated Cheatcode to getting your dream job…
I thought I would give a quick tip to current students out there who want to pursue a job at their dream company, wherever that may be. For some reason, most friends I know in Law school are fully aware of this strategy and think of it constantly, but I feel like it was not a point that was emphasized among my friends in engineering or tech circles. I don’t know why that is. Anyway, let’s chat.

Growing up in the Silicon Valley | I hope I'm not ranting
มุมมอง 8027 หลายเดือนก่อน
I thought I would share with you what it’s like growing up in the Bay Area / Silicon Valley. I spent every phase of my life here, and I’m still here to this day... For those of you curious, I talk about pros and cons of living here. Not super structured, but we’re just friends talking.
Picking my first job
มุมมอง 5607 หลายเดือนก่อน
If you're gonna graduate and get a job one day, you might wanna watch this. Going to a public company vs going to a startup or private company is often quite different, especially from a financial aspect. Hopefully sharing my thoughts and opinions might be useful for those who will be graduating school and choosing their next destination. Since I guess this video is somewhat money related, here...

The fancy trick to solving this integral | Gaussian Integral
มุมมอง 1.3K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today I wanted to solve the Gaussian Integral, which is an expression we can expect to see in both signal processing and quantum mechanics. It can’t be solved using typical integration methods and requires a bit of creativity. See if you can spot the trick ahead of time, assuming you haven’t seen this problem before. Yes, technically, the proof of the improper integral being convergent requires...
Introducing the Boost Converter, Cousin of the Buck Converter
มุมมอง 25410 หลายเดือนก่อน
The boost converter or step-up converter is a really cool circuit that takes a smaller voltage and “boosts” it to a larger voltage. When I first learned about it, I was blown by the fact that it actually works. It’s almost like making something out of nothing, though you realize it does not violate any laws. They are essential for generating high voltages in applications such as cars where spac...
EE Hardware People should know this circuit | Buck converter
มุมมอง 36610 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today, I will talk about a circuit that every EE hardware system designer should know about. It comes with a variety of names: buck converter, step-down converter, etc and it is a type of switching regulator, known for efficiency. Conceptually, the way it works is pretty cool, and even though people typically learn about it their freshman or sophomore year, they should expect to encounter it ma...
The Concept that Every Electrical Engineer should know | Fourier Transform of Impulse Train
มุมมอง 70411 หลายเดือนก่อน
I talk about one of the most important EE problems you learn in school, as well as the tricky and cool method in which you solve this problem. I also explain why the result of this problem has important implications. I learned this in my introductory signal processing course but I saw this exact question years later in my Stanford PhD Quals Exam. This concept is also something hardware and circ...
A common physics textbook problem that professors love to test | Car on a slanted circular track

Today I am trying my hand at teaching one of my favorite textbook physics problems I encountered several times in high school and at Berkeley. You will likely see this in a mechanics physics course at some point in school and I think it is a cool problem because it tests so many different concepts such as Newtons, friction, normal force, centripetal force, gravity, and trigonometry. Hopefully y...

Thanks so much for the videos! They’re really insightful. I have a question regarding applying to a master’s program at Stanford, where research isn’t mandatory. Do you think it’s acceptable to focus writing about courses I want to take rather than specific professors I want to work with in SOP ? I worry that mentioning professors could backfire if their labs aren’t available, or if it comes across as unprepared. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Watching this since I am applying to Princeton Plasma PhD program. For fall 2025. I am from the UK for us they only require a £20 to free admission fee. (About $27 dollars).charging a non-refundable $100+ dollars is criminal. I also I wanted to ask about what you think my chances of getting into Princeton in your opinion. Info below: I got first class degree in masters of physics, UK (85% average) this is a 4.0 gpa (~94/95%) and I am rank 1/150 with departmental prize. I have two papers in preparation for the astrophysical journal (pretty famous peer-reviewed journal) in plasma physics with one of them required funding which I applied for and received. But, I have no GRE. Paying that much when I have tight schedule and low on money was not doable. Will my in-preparations paper matter if the people who I worked under are my references/ recommendations?

Hey, very informative and useful video. I am working on my application for my master's and I was wondering if the use of AI to frame sentences is allowed while writing an SOP. I am aware of the fact that I need to be as authentic as possible but the sentence construction, the flow of the essay and the grammar are some of the challenges I am facing. So, can I use AI for this and of course use synonyms and alter the sentences later? thank you for your help:)

    • @GisliNairs
      @GisliNairs 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

Mostly yes. You have a post graduate in management, so it's related to finance... also you may get diversity points (but it depends on that specific college) diversity points means... if you have a diverse educational background... like you took mechanical engineering, then masters in management... you have diverse academic experience. Also if you are a MBA student in top universities of your country (India) like IIM... then you have a boost. But it doesn't influence so much too.
