    The only thing that enhances probablity of retention success is all on the hiring company's shoulders. Not the recruiter.

    Such an important conversation. I’ve been talking about the impact of automation to my team for 10 years but it never happened. Now with AI there is no doubt it has arrived. I always felt that the open contingency kids living off the ‘machine’ (RW, MP, etc) would be culled when the change came. Very different to genuine ‘consultants’ who have transferable skills (not just order taking). Love what I-intro is doing (had a demo a few years back).

    Be interesting to know if you guys and i8 prefer exclusive over retained if the exclusive is potentially a much higher fee? For business forecasting and guaranteed income, I get why most at high level recruitment prefer retained, and it’s a more professional approach.. but I think there’s scenarios where exclusive could be better

    How do you breakdown the retainer fee? Do you get all the percentage up front or some at front and some after hiring?

      really depends how you want to structure your contract. i know some people who do 50% up front 50% on hire, i know others who do 33% upfront 33% at some point in the middle of the process 34% on hire

    Time to start investing time in candidates. As a long time contractor the vast majority of recruiters have no idea how to handle candidates. It’s all about the ‘client’. Why not refer to both sides of the deal as clients? Yes, one side has the money, but there is no deal without the other side. I believe this understandable bias towards the employer hurts the industry. Candidates feel unloved. A necessary evil that only has value if they can be placed. Any agency that figures out how to build a better relationship with job seekers will prosper big time.

    I followed this advice, my client of over a decade and poised for growth was finding his own employees while asking us to go to the same territory which was good for him but not us because he was circulating around the same people. After 3 overlapped prospective employees, I told him that and he said to come up with a plan. We worked on a plan for weeks which said that we know you will hire our people and to keep us going we need an assurance and to please pay for five of them 1/3rd in advance and raised our prices by only 2%. After receiving our plan, he called and said there’s a hiring freeze now. I’m not sure what to do now

    So my fill rate is 99.99%. We actually just missed one. First for me in 35 years. I work retained and I finish every search unless a client pulls off the project which has happened exactly once.
