I’m 4ft 11 and I’ve got a smart car! How long is your bed? Surely you can’t stretch out! I wanna give this a go. I’d love to tour Europe for a month or so driving my daddy car and sometimes sleeping in it.

I know it's a really old vid, but this appears to be a more common thing than folk realize. My major question, is WHAT DO YOU DO about the dome light being on when the rear glass+tailgate is down? I just removed the bulb as needed, but I'm curious if you have has this dome light issue? Thanks, and excellent coverage of this idea! Smart ❤

baaad idea for having those boards on that dash ledge... i have a smart car as well and i can tell you for sure that dash ledge is gonna snap on you one day as there are only 8 screws holding it upright and false foam fittings underneath to make it rigid, otherwise its holding on to virtually nothing.

Years ago I went camping on a smallish 250 cc motorcycle. You’d be surprised what I carried in 2 side saddle bags, rolled up tent and sleeping bag, fastened with straps on the pillion seat and a shoulder bag resting on that. All up I had food, water, cooking utensils, a radio, chess set and other amusements, like calculator games, and some books. And it was actually quite comfortable. I’m sure one could carry a lot more in a Smart car. But I am impressed with the setup in this YT video, but at 5ft 9ins I may be a bit too long to sleep comfortably. Have slept well in my Hyundai Getz, though. Even so I could imagine one could pack enough camping gear into a Smart, for say, 2 weeks away, and even if one didn’t sleep in the car, you could still have enough for comfortable camping.

I am just so grateful for you sharing this video because when on occasion, I see smart cars, I always think that a full sized car has been cut in the middle. This is really a very eye opener video. I drive a pick-up and the back is just wasted space. Ugh!
