John Daly Reaches a Par 5 in 2 at the 1993 U.S. Open
มุมมอง 1.2M6 ปีที่แล้ว
John Daly does the unthinkable at Baltusrol at the 1993 U.S. Open by getting on the green on the 630 yard par 5 17th hole in 2 strokes. Long John remains the only player to ever do so. Patreon: www.patreon.com/johndalyfans The footage of John Daly is owned by the USGA. We do not own this footage. It has been uploaded simply for Archival Purposes and is protected under fair use. #golf #johndaly
Damn Curtis Strange is grating to listen to. Tosser.
Omeara was a real prick. His befriending Tiger was such a gross self serving symp. I worked at TPC Snoqualmie on maintenance crew. Asked the guy to sign a golf ball each for my two young sons. He would only do one. Huge stick up ass and notice you never hear guys talk about him in warm way or at all given he had a handful of majors. Just a real puts the guy.
Family provides a special role???????
Damned, I did not realize how far we have come in the quality of TV coverage? This looks like the old Shell stuff!
Its amazing to see how long Tiger was at the beginning of his career with all his flexibility. It's too bad he would lose that distance and sustain injuries with the unnecessary bulk he put on from weightlifting. Nobody knew back then that it could actually hurt your game and your body!
4:31 "unless your tiger woods"
This guy was an absolute role model to me and my friends as kids. Hit the ball an absolute mile.
Let’s go John
Jesus Christ 😂
An exquisite, very natural talent who never needed telling how to play the ball. Most have manufactured tuition swings, never having found their natural touch.
Speed was good just offline by 30 ft.
He really is a real life happy gilmore
Funny Tiger’s dad talking about family when he cheated on Tiger’s mom about every week.
25:43 this mentality
just started this year, one of the greatest sports. everytime ive gone this year I can only recall positive shots from my group and myself, adapting your play to courses ive been to makes it never boring, the beer and ciggarettes, and making recovery shots and plays off of poor shots to keep a low score <3
John was a phenomaal free swinging player for about the first 10 years of his pro career. Then his drinking, marital problems and loss of discipline took him down. His victory at the US PGA and British Open were wonderful watching however. At Royal St Georges I saw him live nearly drive a 426 yard hole.
daly is legit such a gentleman, it's insane
Wtf 10:53 that had me tweaking
Hit it hard man!
If your doubting yourself just hurry and stop thinkin. Flop shots are all forward wrist angle. I dip in and hit it to a clock position. My success is 30 percent all the time.
When Daly won the 91 PGA Championship in Carmel, IN (just north of Indianapolis), an attendee of a round was struck by lightning and died. He was a father. Daly gave the family some of his winnings. Think it was $30,000. The purse was much smaller than today’s. Think he won less than $300,000.
@@aieahi1 that is right. The purse for the 91 PGA Championship was $230,000. A far cry from the $18.5 million dollar purse of this year’s PGA Championship. Daly did donate to the family of the attendee struck by lightning in the amount of $30,000. The man’s name was Tom Weaver. May he rest in peace.
@@johndalyfans4039 Thanks for confirming the info. There’s many reasons Daly is such a fan favorite. Forgot to add that Daly was an alternate. Think a player’s wife had a baby and he withdrew shortly before the tournament started. And Daly got the call and drove straight to the tournament. Wonderful story for Daly.
What wisdom n love for the game he has 🙌
I’m way too poor to golf but I do enjoy John daily videos 🍻
21:49 this! Play for fun not score
The 1 dislike is scum
“Well.. the Divet was nice” : John daily
Reaching a par 5 in 2, back when that meant something.
Not nearly enough alcohol or tobacco consumption in this video
Greatest golfer alive!!!!!
9 minutes in and I noticed the jeans
No Prov-1 No modern driver And he did it with a 1 iron
26:16 I would prefer listening to ABC's used of Barry White's "Love's Theme" music from the late 70s to mid 80s over their '96 version.
The Vardon grip
The important info is missing 😂. He was hitting 52° because it was a longer bunker shot rather than a 60°.
Not fair
Damn that was clean
Seamless
Let’s hear what he has to say: *blasts loud annoying music*
Tom Lehman showing how he became #1 that week in April 1997.
The ams are trying to compete with the pro's on distance with a given club. First, ams do not have the refinement of swing like a pro. Second, a lot of the pro's de-loft their clubs beyond manufacturer's specs.
Just club up, Charlie
There are so many incredible nuggets in this video
He drank away his career.
Joe pesci having a good short game was slick 👌
What an absolute BEAUTY!
That would suck to do that, just to 4-putt for bogey 😂
Doing this in 2024 with modern equipment would be extremely impressive. Doing it in 1993 is absolutely insane.

This is the most American thing I’ve ever seen
Glad this video wasn't too long. The quality is horrible. The play is excellent.
"Trimspa" sponsored wrong guy!
