AZ Overlanding Adventure

Overlanding with friends into the Jemez NF in New Mexico

This weekend we packed up the family, grabbed some friends and headed into the Jemez National Forest. We knew we were going to be in for a cold weekend so we went prepared. The days were nice and the evenings were cold. We had a great time hanging around the campfire, and I was very happy with the performance of the diesel heater on the Project M Four Wheel camper.

On this adventure we went into a canyon within the Gila National Forest to do some exploring on a trail we were only slightly familiar with. The trail left some good pin stripes on the power wagon and there was only one sketchy off camber spot but it was worth it to get to this beautiful camp.
2 Night Overland Trip to Santa Fe National Forest

On this weekend’s adventure we headed up to the Santa Fe National Forest. We were joined by our friend from CA (Al). Al was in his 2022 Tundra with a Four Wheel Camper as well! My local friend Alex came as well with his Jeep JK towing his Oregon Trailer.

On this adventure, we head up to San Luis Colorado to visit some property my wife that I bought over 10 years ago. We’ve been up there many times but it’s been about two years since we’ve been and checked on it, so we decided to invite some friends and head up there for a weekend of camping, we are also surprised when a good friend showed up unexpectedly and decided to hang out with us.

Protective case for Starlink when overlanding

The Starlink does not include any type of case when you purchase it it simply comes in a cardboard box in order to protect it better, I sourced a pelican style case off of Facebook marketplace, and purchased a Starlink mount off of Etsy with the foam inside the Starlink is protected, and when we get to camp the case becomes the stand for the dish.

What do you figure is the weight of the bowen bed without the four wheel camper? And how much is the weight of the four wheel camper? Love the build.
The new bed weighs about 75lbs more then the factory bed and the camper is 400 pounds +\- gear

Do you secure the 80/20 frame to anything?
I secured it to the Project M bench at top. At the bottom I fastened it to my GOOSE Gear bed platform
How do you keep dust from getting in and onto bedding? I’ve heard that can be problem with Project M campers.
I think different manufacturers do a better job of sealing their beds. We honestly didn’t have that big of an issue with dust and we are in NM where most trails are dusty. I did seal our bed openings with Dynamat and brought an Amazon seal kit for the tailgate. The top of the FWC M, closes down onto the main bed and that does a pretty good job of protecting the bedding left on the bed.
Can’t wait to see it. LMK when you’re ready to get out. It’s my turn to come to New Mexico.

I was looking for something to use with the zero Breeze portable air conditioner. I wonder if you could make one that would work for the heater and the air conditioner

These products are no longer available unfortunately it was not cost effective to produce at my level.

One day can be done however you won’t be able to take it all in. To truly appreciate Expo I would give yourself 2 days.

Great setup! How do you find the seal on this unit? Do you get water/dust in there or done anything extra to seal it up?
It seals up fine 👍🏻 I sealed all the holes in the bed first, added a tailgate seal and don’t have a lot dust at all

I to Overland in a full size dodge with a popup. Pull a small dirtbike/ Chuck waggon trailer. Nice to see trails for our size rigs.
