Огоневая модель, классно 👍
Great rc buddy 😊
thanks, I will be doing some mods to it soon now that the speed run challenge is over
Rcmike I feel bad because I dont think it counts if the GPS comes loose. we know you did 42mph but them is the rules hopefully Fil will pass it. Goodluck bro from UK
thanks, my fingers are crossed that Fil gives me a pass since I sent him the video before the rules were changed but I'll keep pressing on the throttle for more speed
Come on Axial….. No one mentions the price of this truck ,500 Uk pounds And only a 3 channel radio
I know it's kind of a shame they did that maybe they bought too many 3ch radios and their still trying to get rid of them haha we are putting a Flysky GT5 in it and it will run everything including a winch
Great run. We are tied.
thanks, I stretched its legs about all I could so that might be all she's got
That's an awesome speed for a rally chassis that is very little modified, must be a really nice motor! Great stuff!
thanks, I'll be doing an update video this coming week and showing what I've done to the car so far but just between me and you, my motor is an 8-turn 540 from Amazon with gearing to the moon and I can only get one run before it overheats
Great speed, impressive result 👏
thanks, I gave her all she had, not sure what to do to make it faster from here
Congrats. This is an impressive result.
thanks, honestly I may have used up all my speed secrets on this run
What happens to the super clean red pickup u used to drive?
would that be the classic Ford?
@@rcmikeklein5512 yes sir
if your truck is paid off, people will think you're poor
@@bean99a I still have it and it still runs like a champ
@@boredom.victim I'm still bouncing checks from the account "what people think" I'm starting to think their value may not be too good lol.
Always enjoying your unique take on things. 6
thanks, I wanted to just have fun with this challenge but now I think I'm going to try to get this car going as best I can but my high-speed experience is honestly pretty limited so I'm not expecting to do too well but I kinda expect to be first to the crash site haha
"At least a little better.."? You must be kidding. You had almost doubled the result to the last run. Congrats on your new result👏
thanks, yep it's time to put the throttle down and see what this little car can do, I figure if I pull out all my speed secrets and stand on the throttle I'll be first to the crash site, hahaha
Nice improvement 👍 Congrats 👏 Yeah this is definitely not an on-road car. But to be honest, last year's TT02, at first, it was not easy too, without putting the improved alu steering + metal pivot ball + high torque servo saver. Steering slop is almost mandatory with a Tamiya 😅 🤝
thanks, Tamiya steering has always been a topic for improvement and I want to think the answers are out there somewhere for the MF-01X chassis but I'm still looking for them and all I can do is frantically run around with my hair on fire hoping I blindly bump into them while calmly looking like I know what I'm doing, but at the end of the day the race must go on, I sure do wish I knew about the challenge last year I would have done the tt-02 as that linkage screams "challenge"
Great run, Mike! The Jimny is coming together nicely. What a huge leap from the first pass! Have you tried expoxy gluing the servo saver? It really helps keep the car driving straight.
thanks, I have to say this speed run challenge is by far one of the most fun times ever, and using this kind of chassis is the reason for the fun and the challenge which is why I can't wait for the next one! there are so many reasons why the steering is such a challenge with this car it's hard to talk about all of them but the racers that can address as many of them will end up on the winner's podium. I would say locking up the servo saver would be the first modification, which I've addressed, then getting a servo with a really really good centering point would be the second goal, which I'm working on with so far failed results but hope to correct soon fingers crossed, after that, it's up to each racer to figure out what works for them while using the highly sophisticated math called "black magic of hopes and dreams" and if that doesn't work use my go-to method which is "BUCK IT,,, SEND IT!!" hahaha
Are you running the stock servo saver?
no, not exactly I'm running the stock horn but it's bolted directly to a Reefs aluminum round servo horn so there is no play between the servo and horn, like there would be with the stock Tamiya servo saver, it looks like the Injora servo doesn't center precisely so I will most likely have to replace it with something else
There is only one to go... up
yessir it's time to press the throttle and hope for the best 😊
You are going about it correctly. Going fast but without controll is just going to lead to destruction
Yep standing on the gas with a belly full of piss and fire and a mind full of hold my beer will get you first to the crash site😂
Nice job. Can't await your next run
Thanks, things are going to kinda heat up shall we say as it's time to stretch the legs on the Jimmy
I'm really enjoying your series, Mike! You cracked that magic 10 mph, next time maybe hunt for 15 or 20? It's a nice and calm approach to it, I haven't even run mine yet and I am starting to stress out about it, ha ha!
Thanks, it's been a long time since I was in any kind of speed racing but I'm planning to get this little car going as best we can but it won't happen very quickly, I too see the other speeds and think what am I doing I'm a crawler guy but then I remember I'm here for the fun and if that's all we take away from this we too will be Winners, so have fun stay safe and we'll see you out there
Awesome video Mike! Twice as fast is awesome! Hope I can do that on my next run!🤜🤛
Thanks, we're still working on the car but I expect to get some speed out from it soon
This is gonna be fun to see how fast we all get! In the end it's all about the fun. Good job!
It is definitely fun to push our skills and see what everyone else is doing while having a good time I suspect there will be some steep competition as the weeks go on too
You just doubled your speed from last week, Mike. That's awesome, pal! The Jimny is on fire! :)
thanks, I figure twice as fast as last week is pretty good now let's see if I can double it again next week, fingers crossed
Having fun is the best part of this event. Looking forward for your next run
absolutely this challenge brings back the fun and adds some exciting competition which pushes us all to do more than we expected, The next run should start to get exciting
Hey Mike! Returning the favor and checking out your channel. These speed runs are great for finding new people like yourself. Subbed and good luck!!!
thanks we normally do crawler stuff but this challenge looked super fun so I had to try it out, we're off to a slow start but we'll do our best
@rcmikeklein5512 We all were. I'm looking forward to turning mine back into a weatherproof rally kit. It think it's going to be great fun with alittle snow.
@@Paul__FC Heck yeah I hope I don't completely destroy mine before it's over so I can get it back to normal haha
Double your speed each time 😀😀 25mph next time then 👍👍
haha don't let the cat out of the bag just yet, we shall see
@@rcmikeklein5512 haha, was only a suggestion. Keep it low so I have a chance 🤣 although I could start with my 80t motor in just to see 🤣🤣
@@rivierarc Yeah getting this Tamiya going fast and controlled will be a challenge for sure but if Fil does a slowest car race you and I can use our 80-turn motors and we'll have a good chance at winning that race good luck and keep pushing that throttle
forward progress one step at a time.. 😎
thanks, by taking it slow we wanted to be really careful not to intimidate the other competitors hahaha! we're giving her all she got captain! I sure hope we don't finish this thing last but time will tell, I saw your 62mph speed excellent job, and good luck
Awesome! Welcome to the challenge! Subbed to ya!🤜🤛
thanks, I figured I would do my first run with the crawler motor that I already had in it, plus there's plenty of time to speed it up, it looks like you're off to a good start, and I suspect you've got plenty of speed secrets up your sleeve, I've been watching your channel and your no stranger to going fast, can't wait to see what you do next good luck, have fun and be safe
Hi, I would suggest to at least put the original motor (torque tuned I guess) with a 20t pinion. I think it's around 15-20 mph. Then TL01 tuned gear set with 25t pinion. Then a faster motor (that may require a higher end ESC to be on the safe side). Actually, at certain speed on brushless (maybe on brushed), you may need to put lead in the front 😊 🤝
thanks, I'll keep that lead close at hand just in case I break that 20mph barrier haha I don't want to be pulling wheelies down the drag strip haha what's even funnier is that I completely forgot that lead was still in those tires when I did that first run, but we'll keep trying
It's a start 😊
yeah I don't have much speed in it yet but compared to my other crawlers this one really zips haha I'll keep pressing that gas peddle and see what we get, by the way, your car chassis and body really really look great I'm afraid ill be lost in your dust on this challenge, good luck and have fun
Welcome to the show. Nice to see a Jimny 😊 All the best with your runs 👍🤝
thanks, the Jimny probably isn't the best high-speed option but it's what we had so we figured we would race it 🤣🤣
Love crawlers here too. This really goes to show how much slower high turn motors actually are
I mostly do crawlers but when I saw the Poor Boys Speed Run challenge I had to try it, I've also got 80t motors that really go slow but I don't think I'll try that motor for this event😁😁
@@rcmikeklein5512 i have the Carson Poison, but thats for my Scania... definitely not a speed run motor 🤣
@@rivierarc I have a Tamiya grand hauler that I haven't started but that Carson motor sounds like the perfect choice for the tractor-trucks
Greagt approaches to get more speed out of it. Do you still have the original motor of the kit? This might give you a big improvement. Best wishes for the upcoming runs.
Oh yes I've still got the stock motor I may try that one next but don't worry we've got a few tricks left in our box of parts to get this little speedster going so stay tuned to see the progress as it should lead us directly to the crash site 😂 😂
Welcome to the fun! 😊👍
thanks, it's going to be a great time, and from what I can tell it looks like you're doing extremely well with 83mph! that's a great run.
I like my CJ7. I place my phone in the cabin and film as I crawl. I plan on getting a light bar and a GoPro for it.
yeah the CJ is really cool and I had to wait to get one, and filming inside the cab is something really cool I want to do also, I've been collecting some mods for it, and I'll be filming it soon
@@rcmikeklein5512 Oh nice. I plan on modifying mine at some point. I happen to get mine at my local hobby shop. I saw it and asked about it so they took it out of the box and the rest was history.
@@eddiebatter my first modification will be the radio as I plan to swap it with a fsgt5 so I can operate the features including a winch
@@rcmikeklein5512 Yeah a winch would be nice. I want to get a brushless motor for better performance. A crawler is not a fast RC, but this one seems slower than my other crawlers including my other SCX 10.3 rigs. I’m also planning on installing a light bar.
Glad to see you in the speed run challenge. Happy Summer.😊
thanks, this is the first challenge I've done like this and my first speed run was 6.1mph haha I guess I have some work to do
Nice, not sure how I missed this one... Crawler motor haha thats classic.... c ya inthe comment bud.. good stuff..
yeah I thought everyone would get a kick out of the fact I put a crawler in a speed run haha but I plan to press the gas on this one very soon
@@rcmikeklein5512 lots of time.. I'm sure you'll be flying soon.. 🤙
Lol thanks for sharing. I will see you on the board and good luck . Just subed
thanks, I'll be on there soon and it will be time to get a little more go into this speedster haha
It's all about having fun and learning from the community.. should be a fun ride fast or slow.
I'm absolutely excited to turn this rc 180 degrees around and see what kind of speed we can get but I'll also be stretching my experience and abilities on going fast but regardless having fun is the ultimate goal, good luck and stay safe
Ah, see.... speed runners go fast, crawlers go anywhere 😁😁😁
haha well said I really do like crawlers because of their abilities and at 5mph it's pretty hard to have a catastrophic crash unlike speed cars but I'm also excited to do this speed run challenge even though it's quite out of my normal path, now it's time to push the gas and see what we can do, so stay tuned as the heat is about to get turned up haha
@@rcmikeklein5512 haha, you havent been crawling with us doing silly climbs (really must go an get more crawling/trailing footage!) This is my first year doing speed runs. Last year looked amazing fun watching from the outside 😁
Oh, man, you put a big smile on my face, this is what it's all about! TH-cam put this video in my suggestions, and I am happy I clicked it, and course I subscribed. Great style, man! I'm looking forward to see some more of your stuff, both for the challenge and for RC stuff in general!
thanks, I'm working on the speed run challenge for the next 6 weeks but I also have lots of other things in the works so stay tuned for lots of rc fun
6.1 is a start, Mike. Keep givin'er heck, pal! Happy to have you on board this year!
thanks, I actually thought it was going to go slower than it did but now we're going to press the accelerator on this little car and push the limits to the best of our abilities I'm still hopeful I was able to seal the last place spot on the leader board, haha
I forgot to mention I've probably got the other competitors shaking in their boots! HAHA
🤣 it only went 6.1 mph because it was embarrassed with that crawler motor. Make it go faster!😂
Haha, so you think this won't take a podium spot, lots of mods will take it to the moon!
let the fun begin! my first year doing the speedrun challenge.. i subbed to your channel so i can see your progress.. good luck!
thanks, It's also my first time running in the speed run. I am running the first run with the crawler motor, so it should be interesting haha.
Another JImny, very cool! Glad to have you on board this year, Mike. Have a blast, my man!
thanks I am really excited about running in this challenge with my old Jimny that before today hadn't seen the light of day in nine years and to be able to do this challenge with so many other people is truly priceless. It looks like there will be some steep competition even in the brushed class but I plan to keep it fairly sane and keep the wheels down and the shiny side up, hopefully haha
I loaded my first official run on TH-cam and I kept the crawler motor for the first run just for fun
Happy u started making videos again!
thanks, I have more in the works so stay tuned for more cars and upgrades to the CJ7.
just in case anyone was watching to the end the cars survived the pressure washer and turned on with no immediate issues however Don't try that at home, and as always keep the shiny side up and never grow up.
It would seem that the only reason it might "squeak" is from the plastic shaft rubbing on the plastic cover. Once the shaft hole is opened, regardless of whether a bearing is inserted or not, the offending interface would've been removed. I see no point in the bearing.
What size brass tube do you put in the shock oil bottle thanks
The brass tube is 1/8 inch outer diameter
@@rcmikeklein5512 Thanks appreciate it Mike have a great night buddy
Where did you get the lower teeth gears and do you know the inside diameter of the stock gear? I Got one that didn't fit the motor shaft.
Pinion gears can be a little tricky to get the right one with so many options out there but this motor, requires a 1/8-inch inner diameter 32-pitch gear and I generally get them from "Amain hobbies" online
great information bud. nice rig forsure
I did this mod. I used an old body reamer to cut the hole instead of a step bit. Slow and steady. Worked great. I also had an issue with the steering post pulling away from its seat with a standard bearing. I switched to a flanged 1280 bearing and this problem was solved.
Glad to hear that this helped and I really like the flanged bearing idea I will have to try that on my other gt3 radios.
do you have the flange on the inside or outside?
Inside
