Thanks. I am currently assembling Tudor Corner, and I have the Police Station, so it was nice seeing how the two look together. The thing about the exposed brick on the sides is that is reality of a lot of historic downtown buildings; nicer materials would be used on the front of the building, and sides usually rough brick.

I'm planning to put mine next to the garage BUT via the first configuration (with Tudor Corner on the left). I'll probably change it eventually, but I'm short of space, and I need something to go besides the garage, which is currently 'exposed' right now. I've got Brick Cross Station from the Bricklink Program and I want that to go right next to Tudor Corner so that the latter can serve as a pub/inn for travellers/ I'm planning on changing the interiors of to make downstairs more of a proper pub, and the two above rooms (the clockmaker's workshop and the cat lover's apartment) part of the inn.

I would love to see the bakery up against other modular sets. My personal opinion is it would look nice besides Friends Heartlake city apartments store. We have more than a few odd buildings next to each other, that look tacky but also charming it reminds me of SF.

Absolutely love the Tudor corner and I have it next to the Assembley square. Bit annoying with the exposed bricks but the part that gets me is the balcony on the Tudor corner. I want it so the figure gets a good view of the city

In the instruction booklet, when building the bug display, it mentions these bugs are valuable and thus the chameleon who lives in the townhouse (Birchbooks & Townhouse) isn’t allowed to come over 🤣

I think I like it best beside the original height police station, but when I receive mine (hopefully by Tue or Wed) I'll try it for myself. I have 7 modulars to try it against, some of which are the same as yours 😊.

I'm curious how it'll look next to the Pantasy Baker Street modular, keeping with the British theme.

funwhole is going to rock the lego world. I am all for some good competition. Teach Lego a lesson about value and price per piece.

Brickative team definitely delivers very well executed mocs with intricate details. They are quite "piece consuming" though (sorry for my average english). The mosque and the cathedral are really nice mocs btw. Are they mocs from Rebrickable or your own creations ?

I've just ordered the skate shop and the record store from FunWhole and I plan to place them next to the Lego detective's office. Those three should look good together giving some New York style vibe.

Nearly a year after it's overpriced release I found it $20 off and it still feels $20 Overpriced. The Prints on Rogue & Wolverine are horrible, Magneto's Hair is Horrible (looks better with Reinhardt's white hair piece) and the Little Face print on this Cyclops looks like a Vampire compared to the Previous Cyclops. I used the Pieces for a 4x Bigger jet with Retractable Landing Gear and Belly Ramp that holds 20. Video coming soon.

That steam punk tower is crazy...reminds me of building "Neo Moscow" with the most insane random pieces to come up with something that works...more importantly, LOVE the middle eastern MOC's! More of this please! Islamic architecture is...awesome...there thank s so much variety from region to region, it' very geometrically ornate (if that makes any sense) which should lend itself to lego bricks by default. Although the recent angled corner hotel does give off Cairo, Egypt vibes, your modular MOC is much more "grounded" a more identifiable type building you would find in many middle eastern nations. The spa of yours is crazy! Crazy piece execution comparable to the steam punk tower but fantasy version of the azure dome Iranian/Pakistani style that meets Vegas...and I dig it. I only question the use of the original blue colored peices on that one. Your palace Cinema is really good/clever as well...I dunno, I am just a fan of the mocs and recreations where you don't have the original set, and using what you do have, you end up changing the original theme in order for everything to work. Clearly, in your city, that Cinema was remolded in the 80's 🤣. It's perfect. Love love love your original stuff and build alterations/modifications you have made.

Nice city with lots of personal ideas ! I have got a lot of the modulars/mocs you have yourself but my city is in an early stage of construction. Love your enthusiasm and always smiley and very positive approach of our common passion. Regards.

I love that they are pushing the boundaries of occupied space for modulars. Compatible is good, but they shouldn't be tied to the restrictions Lego has put on themselves and I'm happy to see them try new things and sizes.

I've been watching a while but I guess I hadn't seen your city -- at least not fully as I have now with this tour. I really like your city -- varied styles, much to see, much to linger over. I like your "swapping in/out" strategy...keeps your city -- and your interest in it -- fresh. I also like the "shelf street" to give swapped out modulars a home. So cool. I have the four Ninjago cities -- and yes: I have the Funwhole Cyberpunk set (yet to build) and plan to integrate it into Ninjago district (will become Cyberpunk district -- more general as ironically I'm not a Ninjago fan per se...just like the city sets). Thanks Ali.

It still shocks me that Lego produces premium sets with stickers.

I have a few Funwhole sets... they are terrific, and are the new standard for brick models.

An extremely cool set. Got it as soon as it came out and built it right away. The quantity and quality of prints and the attention to detail are better than Lego, never mind the lighting, which is really well done.. And the subject matter and theme are cool. Nice to see a more realistic depiction of city life than perfectly uniform and maintained buildings. The variations in wall texture and color and the grafitti really make this feel fresher and more interesting than most of Lego's recent modulars.

Funwhole sets have been fantastic to build and for sure giving LEGO a run. Skate Shop is one of my top 5 favourites so far. Love how the building turned out. 👍

2:57 No exposed Studs??? What are those four things I'm looking at in the upper right part of this timestamp frame??? They look like exposed studs to me!

to me end day it not Lego and mini fig are ugly to me. building sets like this never be worth anything in value like you get from Lego sets. I don't see point buying building sets like this it not for me

This is a tremendous review. Thanks for giving alt brands the coverage and detailed analysis. I hope you keep making these as I feel interest in alt brands has really boomed recently.

I love the FunWhole modular series. I'm currently not adding them to my small Lego city as I feel they just don't fit in with the style. But some day I hope to be able to have a FunWhole city as well! I just hope they keep producing these modulars at a very reasonable price 😊. Update: I've just ordered the Skate Shop from Amazon UK and the Chili Dog Trailer (it's cute!) which I got £12 off with a voucher.

I transferred to mills plates after the first modular broke when i picked it up. I have 3 mills plates of various widths already made up so no matter which size i need next, I will be ready

Ali, I am so excited about Funwhole. The funny thing is I don't care about lights. Now, no stickers/only prints I DO care about, lol. However, what I like most about Funwhole is the cool, fresh, sharp vibe in designs (not sure how to be more specific). The new Street Fusion theme really has me intrigued. I'm definitely getting the Skate Shop -- and the upcoming Record Store looks amazing. I'm also getting the Cyberpunk Apartment.

Great video and some great suggestions - i'd never heard of Cada before now, but will definitely be getting the Underground Station and the full Shell set with LED's at some point. They'll look amazing next to the Funwhole sets I have.

Honestly, your city looks way better than the majority of ones posted on here. Everyone just seems to copy each other, and very rarely do you see someone make their city unique and stick out. Having non Lego brands helps switch up the architecture, and just it just look cool.

Thank you for this video! As a long time Lego builder [as a kid in the 70s], I've never had a Dark Ages and continue to build with Lego, but branched out a few years ago to CaDA due to them having a license for Mazda. I'd seen plenty of Mega sets in stores, but the subject matters of the sets never appealed to me, though watching some reviews, I did appreciate their attention to detail and how they can make a marbling effect on their bricks to better simulate ground or rock texture. Fast forward to now and I own 2 FunWhole sets, looking to buy a 3rd - the amazing Theatre, and also want to purchase the PANTASY Tongfu Inn, as I absolutely love that design though I know that is not as easy to incorporate into a Lego modular-based city since it lacks one wall, but I feel that can be modified. :) I am liking that these competitors to the Danish king of bricks are getting more attention, and doing things better than Lego can do. Printed 1x2 cheese slope pieces edge to edge so that when put on a 2x2 plate there's no seam in the printing? Fantastic, FunWhole! Bringing back super old retired pieces that apparently cost Lego too much to continue to make? Another win for FunWhole. Original designs for all these companies - yes please! I doubt I will ever not buy a Lego set, but there are things I did not buy from them this year due to just not being a good value, and instead I gave my money to these other companies. If more people do this, perhaps the Danish king of bricks will lower their prices and increase their quality. One could hope! Thank you again for this video - I subscribed! :)

Great video. I definitely didn't know about this feature in Bricklink, very useful. Maybe add the word Bricklink to your title (if that's allowed). When I first started mocking I had searched TH-cam using the word Bricklink for guidance on how to use it but only found a few US people and couldn't figure out at that time how to search for UK stores. I eventually figured it out on my own, but a series on the different features would be really helpful for newbies. I'm sure I'll learn something new too 😊

The Pantasy Bakery is excellent, give it a go and you will not be disappointed. I would get more but I am fast running out of space and I am more interested in converting the sets I have than buying more...unless they are trains...you can never ever have enough trains.

The alternative builds are great. I have the London Underground from Cada and the Antique Store from Funwhole. Both were great builds and at a reasonable price. The only thing I've found is the Antique Store is a bit taller and chunkier looking beside Lego's buildings and because they're a different shape you need to have a little walkway between the buildings. When space is limited, it's not so good. But as a standalone, they're wonderful buildings in their own right 😊

It's a great time to be a modular fan. With Lego pricing always rising and quality declining overall, manufacturers like Pantasy and FunWhole make it affordable to build something top quality for your city. I've also built some of the Cada Japanese-style city modulars, and they're beautiful, though like you say, the lighting is very rudimentary compared to FunWhole's much more sophisticated implementation.

Helpful "tutorial" -- thanks Ali. I'm fortunate to have most of the Lego modulars (missing first 3 and latest one -- Museum). This year I discovered Pantasy and Funwhole and have dozen of these modulars/cabins/medieval. I didn't know about CaDA modulars. Money's tight and I'm slowing down on Lego and happy for legitimate alternative brands.

Thanks for the really detailed video -- I enjoyed the explanation of the Easter eggs. I passed on this set but have the Monster Fighters Haunted House (and most sets in that theme) -- not an amusement park attraction -- a REAL haunted house. 😁 However this haunted house of yours rocks -- if I had it I'd modify it to also be "real" and not an attraction (limited space so can't devote any to amusement park).

It looks great! I'm working on the Lego Friends Heartlake City Cafe right now. I've added a floor and closed the back and I'm having a lot of fun with it.
