Just beautiful
Despoiled on a train. Is done it badly damage railway track signal system on the lines! It's very dangerous isn't!!!
Luckily the line has been reopened, but summer 2014 is predicted to be very cold wet and stormy so how long the rest of the line will last is down to luck. I'm writing this on a cold wet dark miserable Easter Sunday :(
Nice video but what the hell is the Voyager (220) doing there? I tough they are forbiden to cross in area with severe storms because sea water will cause there electronics to completely shut down. Weird, maybe they fixed the problem or they just try to be luky :)
they aren't fixed! My friend's voyager had its electrics and warning sirens sound on the Dawlish sea wall two days ago.
im surprised those waves didnt put the windows in on that flimsy pacer
The line was destroyed and washed away in 2014 storms and may never re-open :(
Its ok now they have repaired the sea wall and everything so the line has been re opened.
I'm afraid I don't know much about trains but I love watching videos like these, so thank you for the effort involved in filming and uploading. I have one question though, to me the track at 6:50 looks extremely uneven, is that safe?
You Must Be Mad Having A Railway Here !
Go back to the mid 19th Century and tell an engineering genius by the name of Isambard Kingdom Brunel that he's mad! I'm sure he was told this many, many times, but it didn't sop him! He'd probably agree with you, laugh, puff on his cigar, and say "Watch this!" - build the impossible!!!
I took a journey from Dumaguete City Negros Philippines to Penzance once Dumaguete ferry to cebu 6hr bus trip to cebu city 5.5 hr flight to singapore 13hr flight from singapore to london train from paddington to penzance my journey was terminated at...St Erth! line closed waves on track! ONLY IN THE UK!!!!
The Voyager's used to cut out if too much water got down the top vents - not good (especially when I was on them) - trusty 125's were fine though!
That was my commute for 8 years - used to listen to Led Zeppelin's Kashmir on the train when the waves were like that - perfect! Wonderful piece of railway.
OMG!
Its like a step back in time, so beautiful!!
nice place....
oh god, because the sea is so rough if this sunny day? greeting gus
Fish on the line!? Imagine the waves washing into town if WR didn't put the big stone/concrete wall in there! Gorgeous town/trains/area.
Hi! I remember what it was like on Thursday 17th April 2008, as I was on a train on that day, but I must admit I was not in Dawlish then, but I was travelling on a 4:15pm "Cross Country" train between Paignton and Torquay that afternoon and I saw some waves, and also remember that even though Easter was very early that year, it was still during school holidays for many schools.

@TJRHINO29 Dawlish is in Devon, in England.
Isn't this very bad for the railway and the train itself? I mean due to rust and corrosion? Outstanding video, nice afternoon light and quality!
dreary weather,.......all the time....sad
Great video of an old steamer!!
My family had a beach hut at Coryton Cove,Dawlish and that was washed away in a similar storm a few years previous. This video brings back memories. For more shots of Dawlish,in better weather conditions, with a little magic thrown in , log in to - Tony Everest - Kinetic Energy Magic

Why in the Hell would people be living so close to these Violent waters. One Tsunami wave would destroy all those homes.
