Hope you enjoyed the train ride! That was our first official run into blue heron in years. That’s why we had the motorcar down there. That big goofy blue water jug is mine haha.

Thanks to the donation of #1100, it can pull heritage train rides as well as switch in the yard. Not many SW1500s are in preservation. #1100 was a lucky SW1500 to be preserved.
It’s definitely a helpful little engine! CSX was very generous to donate that to them.

where can I find the model, I already have the decals.
The model used for the Heritage highball version of 2716 is a PFM/united brass C&O Kanawha. And you can find these models typically on eBay or other online sites that sells brass engines. Fun fact as well. This is actually the same model that you see on our store.

Yeah, there’s some pretty good size ones the video. I don’t know if I uploaded it yet or not but there was a grain train that I caught that was literally two in one! It had three locomotives up in the front, three mid train dpus and it weighed over 24,000 tons!

Yes they are! Most railroads do that sometimes, they’re called funeral trains. So you can catch them around the US but It’s very rare though.

CSX SW1500 #1100 and NS #6162 pulling a gondola train for Kentucky Steam. Also yes L&N #7067 is on there too. All three locomotives were donated to them from CSX and NS. Now, NS #6162 is back as N&W #6162.
Actually, 1100 was the only one pulling the train. 6162 wasn’t operational when this was filmed.

Yes it is. 2546 is still an active service for the Kentucky Railway Museum, and is used fairly often.
