“What kid today knows woody woodpecker” Brazil standing there: that shit hurt my heart
Why you think the audio isn't updated?
I'm sorry this has nothing to do with this video but I swear I just see you in cwmbran cex then after in the hmv. Sorry if I creeped you out looking all the time but I wasn't 100% sure if it was you or if you would even appreciate someone just coming over. Look forward to seeing the vid if you do 1 of this trip. Regards Dale
Hey man! No not at all I thought someone was looking at me but wasn’t hindered percent sure. There will be a video out yes next week now but I did film. If you ever see me again anyone is welcome to say hello 👋
Can i put a steelbook on the wallet or not ? Thx Nice unboxing 😊
Got me thinking that one of my local Cex stores - not my hometown one - does actually put all their steel book blu-rays on the shelf together. I wonder if it comes down to franchises, James?
Well that certainly is a take, but good on you for giving them a go. Its interesting to see how the younger generations view whats classic to slighty older ones! 😄 My ranking 🏆1, 2, 4, 3 💩.
Enjoyable but i can't remember it 2 months on. Would happily have it on as background noise though. 🤓
Crikey this hurts. 😄More so than seeing the old Battlestar Galactica cylons tainted in it.🤖
Sequels usually get a bad rap but i love this one, really funny, especially Billy. Trivia - Stallone was originally meant to play Axel and Brigitte was his IRL wife at one point. Billy also has Rambo posters up if i remember correctly. A couple you might like (or not!), True Romance by Tony Scott and written by Tarantino, and Midnight Run by Martin Brest who directed the BHC1 and also considered a classic by us late 70's/80's kids. Also has Taggart in it. 👮♂
Wow. Just wow. 😄 I'm with Big Pauly on this one, its a classic and i think possibly the start of the whole buddy cop genre.🤔 And that theme is iconic, Crazy Frog did pretty much ruin it back in the day so i'm glad thats died off! If you didn't like this, i'm looking forward to the BHC3 review! 😆
Yep, saw it on Prime Video last weekend and really enjoyed this one. Exceptional VFX and just thoroughly enjoyable. I know what you mean about the 'found-footage' aspect, its there and seems like the hook of the movie but then they kind of dip in and out where needed. Definitely on my list to pick up now.
Glad you enjoyed it! Its very good and underated.. Great soundtrack too doing Virtual Atmos/DTS-X its great to experience
Gd finds james i found creation on dvd have not watch it yet looks ok and gd out and about😅😅😅
Thanks John does look a decent watch to be honest!
The easiest way to describe Folie A’ Deux is ‘Shared Madness ‘ it’s a real thing that happens on occasion where one persons ‘Madness’ is transferred to another when they spend time with them in close proximity. The Musical elements of the film encompass this. It’s a way of them both ‘Sharing’ the madness of the film. Whilst the films isn’t as bad a what people are making it out to be. It has issues. The first half is badly paced. The singing elements don’t do anything for the film and could be deleted and it make little to no difference to the overall narrative. The end was bound to divide opinion. For me it worked. Arthur chose to abandon the Joker persona. And in doing so Harley abandon him. As she’s not in love with the man but the idea of Joker. Of that Chaotic persona. That she would then go and find In that someone next. Arthur was the inspiration for ‘The Joker’ He was only ‘Joker. The irony being. Had he not abandoned that Joker persona and embraced it. ‘The Joker ‘ ( as we know him ) would never come to be - as no one would have needed to step up to replace. He would have been accepted as it.
There's zero substance to the film. I can take the musical route, but if you're going to do that then go big!!! Every song sounded / felt / looked the same, it didn't bring anything to the film and if you do take them away then your left with nothing.... Other than a shock value ending. Both Gaga and Phoenix give solid performances but the story was just poor. It kinda taints it all now, we didn't need a sequel it was perfect the way it was.
I don’t think it was meant to be a true musical though… Music itself has been a driving force in Arthur’s story since the beginning. Loud music would play when Arthur was at his lowest or most delusional. And when music alone wasn’t enough to convey his emotions, Arthur danced. Sure, in Joker: Folie à Deux it skips the dancing and goes straight to the singing, but I think this is directly due to the fact that this is how he meets Harley: when she’s singing. The reason all the songs sound the same is because these are literally the songs playing in his head. And they aren’t new songs, they’re ones he’s heard before, changed to match his emotions in that given moment.
The first film was a great Joker origin story. Unfortunately Todd Phillips didn’t give the audience what they wanted for the sequel, we were all expecting him to be causing havoc with HarleyQuinn but they went for a prison/courtroom musical drama instead. I enjoyed the prison/courtroom scenes but don’t think they should’ve had the musical numbers in it. Also Lady Gaga offered nothing interesting to the role, if she hadn’t been there the film would’ve still had the same momentum I think. It was also a bad move doing that ending, changing the story arc. They were basically saying “so you like the Joker then? Well eat this!” Happy you enjoyed it mate, for me it wasn’t a patch on the first film.
It was a film not about Joker it was Arthur Fleck and Lee the IP of Joker/Harley was used. It has subliminal messages about mental health and dealing with issues. I agree defo not a patch on the first movie which I rate a 5* but it has been so misinterpreted as a “bad” film because it didn’t cater to comic book fans. DC elseworlds is not the DCEU etc it’s its own thing with underlying stories using characters we love. Real shame people didn’t get it
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS. I FEEL LIKE YOU AND I ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO LOVED IT
Curious about Sanctum and The Vatican Tapes myself, let us know what you think. Also if you haven't seen it, The Fugitive is superb, real top tier Harrison Ford. I think you mentioned Into The Storm a few weeks back, finally watched it at the weekend (love a storm/disaster movie!) and really enjoyed it. Been meaning to see it since it was released so thanks for the reminder.
Yeah I did a review of it on the channel! Glad you enjoyed it 😃 it’s really underrated I think as storm/disaster movies go. 🙌
@@MoviesWithJames So you did, just caught up! 😉
Hope you enjoy Woman King! Keep up the good work, love a good Blu-ray hunt!
I managed to see it in IMAX 70MM for the first time Friday just gone at the Science Museum ronson theatre in London. Traveled all the way from Manchester and man, it was incredible!
If you ever get the chance, watch it in a movie threatre that plays Interstellar in 15/70mm.... absolutely blew my mind and I'd already seen it at the cinema and at home
Wanted a bit more death? Watch the original Danish version, the ending is a LOT more bleak...
Facts
This is a great film. It seems that you're not aware that it's a remake of a Danish film from 2022 so couldn't deviate enormously from the original although the end of this version us entirely different. Probably one of my films of the year. I think if you watch the Danish version you'll appreciate this quite a bit more.
I actually really enjoyed this movie - particularly James McAvoy, he made me laugh a lot which I didn't expect. I know what you mean about the ending feeling a bit rushed but I enjoyed the scenes prior to that so much that I wasn't that bothered. I'd recommend going back and watching the original movie if you're interested.
The original Mad Max 1 & 2 are excellent. Thunderdome... not so much! But they're very different beasts to Fury Road (didn't like it) and i suspect Furiosa (haven't seen it). I always have to recalibrate what i guess you'll think of older classic movies after you didn't like The Goonies which is definitely a classic to most who grew up in the 80's! 😄
Very nice pickups james😅😅😅
Cheers John 👍
😮 Hi there James you may like Mad Max 2 and 3 bit the 1st Movie it's a Slow Starting Movie to get into the Action. Enjoy
Defo Mad Max 2 has sparked my interest based on comments! Will get these watched soon
It's League of Super Pets not Super League of Pets!! 😂
Oh my… shaming 😂😂🤷🏼♂️
He’s baaaaack 🎉 Also, Steve is right… Mad Max 2 is the best Mad Max movie - already watched it like 4 times this year 😂❤
Oooo now I’m excited!!
Mad max 2 is the best film
Defo looking forward to it!
There be goats
This movie has that dumb trope of taking an interesting story and instead of focusing on that, we get someone who was there telling a grounded character who's an audience stand in. In the Great Gatsby, we want to see Leonardo Di'Caprio as Gatsby, but instead we have to follow Toby Maguire talking about Gatsby. In Interview with a Vampire, instead of the whole movie being the vampire part, it wastes our time being the story of a reporter who's interviewing a vampire about his adventures. Seriously, who ever said their favorite character from that movie was the reporter? You could (and should) cut him and the interview scenes entirely and the movie would only improve. In Men Who Stare at Goats, we got the same trope. Instead of a movie about that weird spych unit, we get a movie about a crybaby reporter who's trying to find himself in the Iraq war talking to a guy who used to be in the unit. Most of the runtime is the reporter and his scoop wandering in the desert 30 years after the events we all came to see. The plot is propelled by chance and coincidence. Terrorists, LSD, spy equipment, and a bunch of doors marked "restricted area" are unlocked, unguarded, with no cameras or alarms. This allows our heroes to free the terrorists (the movie doesn't explain why they do this ir why the audience should be on board with it), and they turn a bunch of goats loose in a sea of sand to die of starvation and dehydration over the next few days and the music and tone of everything makes it seem like a heart warming moment or a happy ending but it's just confusing and stupid. Then the reporter who can and does phase through solid walls can't get a spot on TV.
How long is the sale on for?
The film too, was originally cast with two white actors, Jon Lovitz and Dana Carvey in the lead roles, and the changing of race was, at the time, a first, and groundbreaking for it. Michael Bay fully acknowledges that the script was sub-par, and said that really, what drew him to it was the chemistry between Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. The composer, Mancina also did the Scores for both 'Speed' and 'Training Day'. Respectfully, it's sort of hard to take a review seriously, when you state that you're using your 'phone rather than paying attention to the film.
I remember thinking Buried was excellent. Wahlbergs Planet of the Apes though... £3 is too much. I saw it for free and it was too much! 😂 Hope you enjoy them both.
Great video james nice pick ups i loved buried film😅😅😅
I went to see Buried at the cinema when it came out.
Going for more than double on eBay for planet of the apes.. good find 🙏🏻
Best bit was the unlocking of the boot or trying to 😂 so funny
This one was just too long, too overblown and to offensive to watch though I wonder what did fans and viewers say about the director Michael bay back when it came out if they liked his first two and he does great at action despite that the film lacked cohesive story, and brain cells
Even though the 4k set is more expensive and the video is worse than the blu ray I’d still buy the 4k set just for the packaging 😂
I'm lucky I got this set of ebay for 65 quid in perfect condition
Sorry you didn’t enjoy the film mate. Personally I really had fun with it, loved the action mad max meets suicide squad and enjoyed the chemistry between blanchett and greenblatt.
Great video as always James but what happened to the video for the 2nd part of your collection? I set an alert but it never seemed to go live. . . . . I hope we haven't lost it . . . or is it still in the works
Sorry had to cancel the LIVE on the day had some family stuff come up
@@MoviesWithJames no problem, pleased I didn't miss it 👍🏼
Evolution finally got a u.k release from hmv woot woot. Good to see your trying some old film. Heres a few absolute bangers worth watching whatever age one is. Here goes. Key largo - the killers ava gardner version - white heat with james cagney ( takes a hour to get going but the last 30mins is insane) hard to believe its a 50s movie. The lost weekend by billy wilder the best director for decades its about alcoholism. 1960s psycho a must watch. 1970s a woman under the influence , another alchy story. Also the big sleep is pretty good. And citizen kane. Invasion on the body snatchers 70s version. 80s and 90s to many to mention.
Gd finds james i have blow on bluray to gd film😅😅😅😅😅
Thanks mate!
Always fun to watch your videos James, cheers.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks man!!
I must have watched blow 20 times, amazing movie, great soundtrack. Nice pick up, enjoy
Oooo love a good soundtrack in a movie so thats good!
Phones pinging every five minutes or so in the cinema as well, really annoying.
