Professional Routesetters VS Hardest Terrain In Our Gym
Today we’re setting the World Cup Wall (or the Lead Cave). Setting on this wall can be down right brutal, so I wanted to share a few tricks we use to lighten the load! Hope you enjoy!

    I'm really struck by not just how much thought and but also how much consideration you put into routesetting. This was a really wholesome and enjoyable video to watch.

    Hi Brittany, Cool to watch! Thx! How high is the wall in meters? Do you set 1 route/day in this terrain? How many/day in other terrain? What is the usual day rate for a setter in the U.S.? Thx in advance for your answers! All the best, Ollie

    I really enjoy these kinds of videos. Keep up! It would be interesting to compare the various styles/mindsets of each routesetter in your gym. e.g. how they approach the task? Do they privilege strange moves or a predictable flows? I always found in my gym to love each route of some setters, while generally struggling with routes of others

    Awesome video! Curious when you set with holds that need bolts, are you putting those in first and then switching out the bit to place screws after or on the way down, or something completely different? Thanks!

    • @brittanywarren3446
      @brittanywarren3446 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope you nailed it! We’ll bolt the hold on the wall first, switch bits, and then place in a set screw after to ensure the hold doesn’t spin 🤘

    Super cool video! I just arrived at this new gym. I’ve been climbing for a little over a year. I can climb around V4 leaning into V5. They said they need a new temp routsetter, I don’t know if I’m up for the task. I would love to do it and it’s a fairly small local gym. Any advice?

    Really great work describing your intentions and experiences. Also, it's neat watching you improve as a creator. It takes a lot of extra effort to think about filming while you're setting for a comp. Nice work! Lastly, it was great that you were able to show the collaborative, team aspect of the setting process. Really good video 👏

      @Goldie Blocs I like making behind the scenes setting videos, but I haven't been able to make them recently because it just takes up too much spare mental energy. I also hope for a dedicated camera person one day. Good luck! - Dave

    This was a great video! I can see you put a lot of work into editing. I was really interested in the work that went into making boulders accessible to a wide variety of body types. I, personally, am a very large guy (6'9") and some of the boulder starts in my gym are just impossible for me to get into the starting position and/or being very large makes otherwise tricky moves trivial. Of course, it's unreasonable to expect people to set with the very tall person in mind, but I do admit to being envious of the people who are able to do the boulders as the setters intended. Keep up the good work!
