I had a D 18 some years ago. I wish I had kept it. Many many stories similar to mine.
I hear ya bigdaddy! The era of trading, experimenting and aquiring gems ended about 20 years ago for me.
I paid $350 for it in 1976 and sold it in 84 for $800. I was very happy then...lol but no now.

Yes it is layered guitars. I play it with one guitar (as if I could play two at once lol). I play the main part and just toss in as many fills that sound similar to the second acoustic. It works fairly well. I didn't actually sit and create an arrangement I just did the fills by ear. Not saying you shouldn't arrange it. Nothing wrong with that. My cover would probably sound better if I took time to arrange. Just too lazy. LoL Nice job! 👍✌️🤘
Thank you for your comment iluvdaguitar! This video was something someone requested and I did basically what you did...listened and included as many guitar sounds that made this song great. The 2nd part of the video is a direct transcription of 'Link' Floyd's stage version of the song where one guitar player-singer is carrying most of the tune.(I haven't been able to locate that video on youtube anymore. )

@@RolandLeeGuitar I used to play classical guitar when I was young then switched to electric but I guess I'm not talented enough :-)
@@ITube4RealFun The fact that you still appreciate classical guitar music and play the electric means you always have the option to switch...it takes a lot of time to feel comfortable playing both but don't let other people's ideas about doing both stop you.

I didn't mind waiting for them to flag me across the street...come to think of it, I've experienced them here in Thailand and we did need them... even as an adult!

Nicely played. Thanks very much for the notation/tabs. Who knows what muses Jimmy and Nick channeled to create those beautiful pieces of music? Like so many of Nick's songs, "Clothes of Sand" has an ethereal quality. Both sad and uplifting at the same time. Cheers, Roland.
I totally agree, and you're bang on in your description of Nick Drake's music. Jimmy Page's music seems to have a different effect but no less powerful.

Rain Song us truely one of Zeps prettiest. Or should I say one of Jimmy's. He may not have been the most technically proficient player, but he felt a vein of something magical running thru him when he played.

Fine lesson ! But that last ( bottom) string was not an E it was a D! This messed Me up B-cause I took it for grantedvin the first ten mins.Then I went back and checked Your tuning.....Yup it's a D.😂❤

Hard piece to play & this was a good effort. Will take a year or 2 more before you can play it properly. Once you master it though pretty much anything else you will also be able to play. Good luck & keep at it fella.
