It’s difficult to find something to say about Wolf Creek Golf Club that has not already been said… spectacular… visually stunning… jaw dropping views… awe inspiring. Located in Mesquite, Nevada, approximately 80 miles Northeast of Las Vegas, Wolf Creek is a golf course you will never forget.
Mesquite is a smaller, working class version of Vegas. The hotels and casinos there are not as large, as fancy or as fanciful. However, the golf is as good as Vegas, and Wolf Creek is just about as good as it gets anywhere. Standing on the first tee at Wolf Creek looking down several hundred feet to the fairway in the valley below only gives a glimpse of what is yet to come. The first question that comes to mind is “how did they ever build the course?”
The 360-degree vistas of red rock mountains, desert, mesas, steep cliffs and ravines would more likely be an environment to be explored on the Discovery Channel rather than the Golf Channel. Architect Dennis Rider somehow filled in the valleys with enough fertile soil to create eighteen emerald ribbons through this naturally hostile environment. The course plays over 7,000 yards from the tips, but because the majority of holes have downhill tee shots it doesn’t play that long. However, unless you are a straight hitter, it may be a wise choice to play from one of the other four tee boxes, because the wind can wreak havoc and there is often no recovery from errant shots. From the tips Wolf Creek is rated as the fourth most difficult course in the US. From the middle tees it is quite fair and will allow you to play to your handicap.
Riding a buggy makes you feel as if you are on the runaway train ride at Disney World both in terms of the roller coaster like route, and also because of the surreal surroundings. This would not be an easy course to walk even if walking was permitted. A steep up hill ride leads to the second tee box where you have a panoramic view of the first, second and seventeenth holes. Number two is a 445-yard dogleg left where the tee shot is aimed over a mountain ridge. Another uphill ride to the tee on the 227-yard par three third reveals a knee knocking slightly uphill shot that is almost all carry over a rocky peak.
The course does well in mixing long and short holes and very difficult and moderately difficult holes. The elevation changes and surroundings can produce optical illusions when trying to determine yardages. For example, the 305-yard seventh hole looks more like a 210-yard par three. There is a ridge in the fairway about 190 yards out with a wide ravine fronting the green that appears to be just beyond the ridgeline. Only when you get to the ridge do you realize that there is another 115 yards of downhill lie fairway beyond the ridge that must be factored into the approach shot over ravine to the elevated green. The tricky approach shot makes this short hole quite a challenge and is the type of design characteristic that makes Wolf Creek such an interesting layout beyond the beauty of the setting. Bring your “A” game and your camera when you play Wolf Creek.
The above article and all photographs are courtesy of Stewart, who nominated Wolf Creek as a Gem back in December 2006. Since then, Wolf Creek has moved into a prominent position within our Nevada Best In State rankings.

Wolf Creek is unlike any other course you've ever played.
And for that it deserves a lot of praise - you'll be taking photos on almost every tee box, convinced that this - finally - must be the signature hole. They're all so visually stunning, carved into the hills and caverns that it just makes you laugh. You will leave with memories and photos that will last forever, and that's worth quite a bit.
On the flip side, Wolf Creek is perhaps the least "natural" course I've ever seen despite their marketing claim of such. It feels like a theme park, both off the tee and driving past creeks and waterfalls that (there's absolutely no walking, as some drives from the tee to the fairway or green to tee can take a few minutes driving in a cart). If you spend time thinking about the ecological impact of creating that course in that area, you're not going to feel great about it.
But my main critique of the course is that it's really primarily asking ONE question - can you hit a solid to long drive off of the tee over some type of hazard? Which is a tough, good question to ask! But when it's the same on almost 18 holes it is a little redundant. (And if you are on the wrong tees, god help you. Either way, bring more golf balls than normal.)
I'm not entirely sure I'd play Wolf Creek again, but I'm super glad that I did and it's a great experience for golfers of any stripe.

I can't get commentary on my Links. How do you get it?
Welcome to Links golf😄 Sorry your commentary isn't up to snuff. Let's see if we can help you out🤔 I'm thinking it might be where have, or not have the SSF files. You will need your sound files (.SSF) loaded in two different folders (see below) then in the game, go to Options / Sound Set-up, you will need to choose which SSF file and enable the voice sound files. In Options / Players / Personality you can choose the soundscript file for the players Here is a link and some info from the Links Corner Forum topic on Soundscripts. From there you can DL other SSF files for the game and If your still unable to get them working, You can ask the LC forum to help troubleshoot. Use the ( UKtribute4.ssf ) in the ( Main Sound Script for Tournament Play ) Doing, as it spices up the game , and adds tremendous variable sound variations to the game .( It wont be dull ) 4.I have noticed : If you Change the ( Main Soundscript for Normal Play ) on a regular basis. And Leave the ( Main Sound Script for Tournament Play ) as ( None ). You will get many variations from your Player Soundscripts , joined with the Main Soundscript for Normal Play . Hello. Dear Southcitygolf. How to make transparent golfer graphics when putt aiming? 7:44
That's a very good question. Thank you for asking. Press and hold CTRL while aiming and the golfer will disappear. This can be useful for shots where you've rotated or if the golfer is obstructive. Thanks again for stopping by and reaching out😉🏌♂⛳

@@Southcitygolf I used to play Links 2003 all the time way back when. Really considering getting it again, the DLC courses look like a fantastic time. And it looks like the gameplay is just so much better than any other golf game made in the last decade. Will definitely see about getting it again!
@@trvrshoe4518 Well welcome back brother. You can get the game here... www.linkscountryclub.com/links-2003-golf-games It's like $7 and the crz's are still over at Links Corner along with tech help from the forum if there is any hang ups. I just got a new pc w/win 11 on it. My other pc died so I just got this one few months ago. It has a AMD Processor and I installed old Radeon 550 vid card from old pc. Hey, thanks for posting these. Got the golf game itch while playing Neo turf masters, started looking for more golf games and Links 2003 came up high in reviews. I really like it, skill and chill kinda game (no chill when i miss the putt). I saw there are like thousands of mod courses and i'll just presume that what you play is a good course. Snooki’s turning in his grave
Cool... I'm William. I'm the designer. I completely forgot I made this over 20 years ago. Wow, its been that long? It's a real course in the mountains of north carolina where I grew up. I lived behind the 4th hole. I remember putting little pictures of my family members all around the course. Designing this course was fun but very time cunsuming so I never really finished it. Maybe one day I or someone will take the time to redo it and make it better. Its truly a beautiful golf course and area of the Carolina mountains and although I tried, I didnt do it justice. I was searching for information on the grassy creek area because of the hurricane and stumbled on this. So glad you put this on youtube and I found it. Its great that its still available and being enjoyed. Thanks 👍
Thank you William. I've been playing since Links 2003 inception and I've enjoyed this course over the years. Hope all is well and Thank you again for stopping by and dropping in. It has been my pleasure to keep tracks like Grassy Creek and others alive and well.⛳😎

Incredible 3 w followed by a very u fortunate pitch shot lol. Had no idea this game was so intricate though
🙂 Thank you. Hehe yeah, not all rough is created equal. Up to designer. Some are more grabby than others. You try to take note when your there so you can use it later. That first chip can be a crap shoot. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the site 👍😎

I wish I still had this game, I love the challenging courses with so much going on like this one.
If you have a PC and about $10 you can. You can purchase Links 2003 from Links Country Club at www.linkscountryclub.com/ The free add-on courses, like the ones I'm playing, can be found at Links Corner linkscorner.org/courses/ Just making some videos for people new to Links. Been playing Links 2003 since it's inception and have over 730 add-on courses. So I've played the Front 9's (at times not very well) to give you a look at some of the great courses this game has to offer. Have fun out there and remember, never aim where straight can hurt ya. Enjoy
This is one of the BEST bands I’ve heard in a long, long time! They’re Blusey as hell! 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
How do you think this game compares to tiger woods circa 03-06?
Great question, thank you for asking. I enjoy the Tiger Woods series over the years, but I always seem drawn back to Links. I think it's the way Links plays. I've hit shots on TW that were kinda close only to see the ball go towards the hole like a magnet was turned on. Now I'm not sayin' TW is cheating...errr well maybe a little lol . I also wasn't a big fan of players at different levels. Having to build up your player. In Links, you all start with the same talent. There are different levels of forgiveness in you swing, but your ball isn't going in the hole by it's self. If you weak and early, you wind up short and left or too hard and late, your long and right. When I set up the shot here, I've missed my snap only to see the ball go in(mostly putting). My brain figured it out and based on how I aimed, sent the signal to my finger for what I wanted to do...which was make the shot. I just have to learn not to think, it only hurts the team...lol. I also didn't like the ability to spin the ball while it's in the air, after you hit the ball. Love their graphics but I have over 1700 courses to choose from for free here. Hope I was able to give you the answers you were looking for and thanks again for stopping by and asking. Peace
@@Southcitygolf yes great response. I found one website with a lot of courses. That is drawing me towards this game.
On my channel, in my playlist this is the description... "You can buy Links 2003 from Links Country Club at www.linkscountryclub.com/ The free add-on courses, like the ones I'm playing, can be found at Links Corner linkscorner.org/courses/ Just making some videos for people new to Links. Not sure how a 20 year old computer game can have a better swing than 2k does
Thank you Matt. ☺
One does not simply shoot par at Rivendell. This looks amazing... downloading for sure!
lol That's for sure. I did okay on front 9...fell apart on back9 hehe. I had a guy come in and wanted to play fc/fc here... it's morning, i'm ice cold, but the golf whore in me says "Sure" .... Doh! That was a long morning lol. Nothing before or since this one has there been another. Amazing it's playable. as long as you bring those extra balls....only lost two or three this round. The mc/mc cond helped
I watched your youtube channel and I see that you are making amazing content. I really like your videos. Even your audience also likes it, But you deserve more audience on your channel. I analysed your youtube channel and I see that your SEO (Search engine optimization) score is very low. That's why you can't grow up on youtube. I am a professional digital marketer and expert in youtube SEO. After SEO your video will rank on search engines and you will get a targeted audience on your channel. SEO helps videos to get reach. That's a youtube algorithm. Let me know if you want to know more about it.
Thank you for checking out the site and I appreciate the praise (blushing) but I was making these videos so people that are new to Links 2003 can see some of the better courses they could download, for free, being Links Corner has over 1700+ to choose from. I wasn't looking to make any money off this. Since I was going to play 9 holes anyway, I figure I would record and post it for fun. Thank you for the offer but I think I'll pass at this time. If things change, I'll definitely keep you in mind. Peace
Still one of the best golf games ever made. It even rivals todays current gen golf games
Thank you very much. There are ones with better graphics and stuff. I think what they forget is, it's about the golf. The physics of the ball how much bounce roll and things like that. As a golf video game/simulator , I think this is still the best one out there. Not to mention our 1700+ user generated/add-on courses to choose from (which are free) Thank you again for stopping by
Hi I have links 2003 but it won’t play any ideas how to fix -ty
linkscorner.org/phpBB/index.php Here is a link to the Links Corner Forum ( its also where you get the add-on course). They should be able to help.

Classic game. These graphics were quite stunning in their day.
The actual golfer animation is better than it is now.
Thank you 😢Sad but true. 🧐I've been waiting for something better but... Haven't seen it yet. 😒
first of all idk how I ended up getting this video recommended but I read "grassy creek" as "grassy cheeks"
Glad you stopped by ;-)
Nice roll on 3
Thank you sir, much appreciated🏌♂️😎
The swing animation looks a lot smoother than 2K23
Thank you. I'm sure those other guys will catch up someday lol. I still think this IS the best simulator and with over 1700+ user made courses to chose from, not getting tired anytime soon ;-)

Yo, is this the Utah Bountiful Ridge?!
Absolutely. This was the first time this course was made by one of our users. All the other versions were done by Microsoft. Here's the link to the download site that has the course notes .... Bountiful Ridge by Dace Fair linkscorner.org/courses/course.php?crz=2160
