Declared a target landing and missed it by a lot. Still a lot to learn when comes to tuning the spot landing.

A nice and easy sled run to the target. I did not declare this spot landing so it does not count towards my H3.

This is late evening flight, and I declared the spot landing with instructor Matt. I tried to get as close as possible to the target and ended rolling in and missed target by several feet.

This flight I declared spot landing with instructor Mike. The launch was successful and nice transition. I turned to the left and try to find some thermal and stayed in the air almost nine minutes. Foot landed at the target.

I good launch and transition. Turned to the right to search for some thermals, found none. Turned towards the LZ and flew OK. The LZ was very active, and I decided to a rolling landing.

This is an extended sled run. During the landing I did not bleed out all speed and flared a bit earlier that resulted in ballooning. Luckily I kept my arms up as instructed and landed on my feet.

It is a good start. I felt a small lift here and there and tried to use it as much as I could. A foot landed a bit before the target.

Kind of a midday sled run. Landing was not that great. I ballooned kept my arms up and save the day.
One thing I disliked about Lookout was if you're not there consistently, all your going to do is sled runs. In my 15 years there I only had a few memorable flights. It was either dead calm or howling winds . This was back in the 1990s early 2000. Long before the new radial ramp. So I quit, now that I'm retired and living in Mexico, there's Valle de Bravo. All new hanglider and equipment. And a solid prospect of 75 or 80 hours airtime during the season. I love Lookout but Valle has it beat by miles.
@@KeithMilton-rl1mg I think you are right about sled runs, so many of them and no much staying in the air. But there are other things that I need to work on: landings at target, getting more comfortable flying within traffic, etc.

Wow, you got uncomfortably low off launch!
Svaki dan letis samo rokaj
@@esatbesirovic1375 Pokusavam, mada instruktori nam ogranicavaju kada mozemo letjeti na osnovu naseg ratinga, ja sam H2 I dok ne predjem na H3 bit ce dosta dosadnih letova, ali kroz svaki nesto naucim.
That's what wheels are for . Great sledder!

61 flights already! At this rate. You'll be a H3 in no time!
@@yoshidragonaga Thanks Mie, I hope to get some soaring in near future to get the required air time.
How many hours do you have? It'll be easy to get on a good ridge day at Lookout!
Sweet landing!
Awesome ! 😎
It’s Bandit time!
@@mikebodary9758 I t was a great experience. Thanks to instructor Mike and Gordon on tips and help.

Awesome flight and great landing Nihad! Congrats bud, can't wait to fly with you again!

Super svaka cas toje sve ok.
I love this GT harness, it is so comfortable to fly with. Yeah I love this flight and my exit from box pattern, downwind leg, base, final and of course the landing was so pretty good as well.
Isn't that pod harness amazing? Nailed that landing!
Nice landing
Odlicno sletanje
Awesome flight, Nihad! (And landings are the hardest part.) You should go talk to Jen at the shop about getting a new or used pod harness. They are soooooooo much more comfortable than those knee hangers.
@@mikebodary9758 Thanks Mike, I have a brand new GT pod harness and hopefully I will use it in the next flight. I have been told that the knee hangers is good transition to a pod harness. See you soon at LMFP.
@@NihadFly You are going to love it! Hope I bump into you this fall!
Nice, looks like Lookout Mountain in Tennessee

Bello!
Fun flight! Some advice from a H4 (thousands of foot launch flights): 1. Keep running until you're in the air. Do not hop up into the glider before it lifts you. The end of your launch ramp does not look fun to fall into! 2.Pick a safer approach path for landing. I got the feeling you were wandering around until you were close enough to think about landing. Set up successive points in your mind starting from where you want to come to a stop on the ground all the way back up to where you are in the sky and fly through those points. 3. Keep your speed up throughout your landing. You were dropping fast downwind (next to the trees) due to insufficient airspeed and were too low and slow for my comfort when you turned 180 upwind though you handled it well. (My instructor was constantly telling me to speed up. I have a hard time watching my early flight videos. I was too comfortable flying low and slow). 4. Dive a little throughout final to make sure you have good airspeed control and round out and coast until you are a second beyond trim speed and then flare. You floated down and then flared. 5. Feel great about your successful flight! You're doing extremely well for your 25th flight. The things I'm telling you above will come naturally as you work on them over many flights. :)
@@KevinBerry-c6p Thank you for all your suggestions. I like all your comments for this flight and definitely will work on all these points.
good job
Nice!
Well done. 👍🏻

Só faltou voar capotado, mesmo assim parabéns pelo vôo 👏👏👏👏👏
super super bro
Great start , wind and landing condition , supervised and documented , nice to see hang gliding still alive . I remember my first flight 1975 , all alone up on a similar mountain in Switzerland with my just received new Bill Bennet Glider , no idea how and where to land did I start over hills , power lines and Villages in to a unbelievable love affaire . I quit hang gliding 2007 :(
What I felt was wrong here, was the close flying over the houses, before landing.
My training hill was a sand dune so it was three steps forward and one step back on the way up. 😅😅🙃
I have added this video to our tv in the back room of the pro shop and we are going to require students to watch it with an instructor as part of the CHALK TALK before they fly off of the mountain the first time. Thanks for making a great video all new pilots can learn from!!😊😊😊
Great instructors - great students. That is very cool, thanks!!!!
Relax!
This just popped up on my TH-cam suggestions. I launched you off the mountain that day. Great launch, flight and landing!! This video should be required viewing for all new pilots before they fly off the mountain. Excellent job missing all those puddles and sticking the landing!!!! Hope to see you again soon at LMFP.
Thanks Mike for help during launch and safety advice and measures you take before all novice pilots launch over there at LMFP. You make all these flights more enjoyable and safe for at least myself. See you soon over there!!!
I know they teach using different methods but I can't help pointing out two things. - hanging lower when fully prone with your hands on the control bar gives you much more control. -letting your arms go loose even when in the upright position is something you should do to help relax yourself. Reminds yourself that the glider trims itself. Your arms seemed very stiff which is understandable but prevents you from getting any input from the glider. Relax your arms and learn to let the glider fly more independently.
I like your second remark about flying more relaxed and have glider flies more independently. I think this flight was in the midday and was quite gusty for my pay grade. I agree that I should let glider lead the way but this is still new to me and looking forward to fly it next time with this technique in mind. Thanks for your tips it helps a lot.
@@NihadFly I'm a senior who has quit flying but I flew Lookout mtn back in the 90's I'm Cdn so a long drive. You're at a very fun stage in your flying. I'm envious. lol My first soaring flight in Ridge Lift wasn't planned. I was going to do a sled run but launched and the conditions improved. I spent 1.5 hrs soaring with a dozen hang gliders and 4 sailplanes in Dansville New York. The things you will learn on your first soaring flight will stay with you for the rest of your life. It did with me. lol
I used to live in Winnipeg, MB and Montreal QC. Thanks a lot for all kind words!!! I really appreciate it.
Remarkable!
Nice morning flight 🙂
Evala care. Vise ne letim ali bilo je super dok je trajalo!
I'd love to try one of those.
Spectacular, yet so calm.
Thanks for watching.
Nice flight. It may help to visualize keeping your hips parallel to the base tube and not twisting the inside hip. You want to power and lean into that inside hip and have it "lead" the turn. At the 4:20 timestamp, you can see how you are turning left but your right hip is leading you right. You are a natural; you get this figured out, just keep flying, and your landing stomp was amazing! Great work!
Thank you for bringing this twist motion up. You are totally right and it looks like “cross-controlling”. I will pay more attention to this in my upcoming flights.
@@NihadFly another thing to visualize is move you hip to your hand. To turn left move your left hip towards your left hand on the downtube. So you’re leading the turn with you left hip.
@@deantobeThanks for tips I will definitely pay attention to this more on my next flight.
Awesome Flight! Thanks for the video!!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching I am still learning and working on every aspect of this sport. These videos help me to make connections and also some other more experienced pilots to help through their tips.
That training hill is luxurious
It really looks like it! So even, smooth… 😯 launch from anywhere.
I came there with a group from the University of Florida in 1985. I got exactly one flight off of that bunny hill before getting rained out. It is a great sensation flying that low. I milked it to the very end, almost touching the wheels before flaring out and sticking the landing. It’s still on my bucket list and this video, reminds me why.
It is a very exciting and cool sport. Thanks for sharing your story.
