How to Draw a Celtic Knot Middle School Art Lesson
This Saint Patrick's Day Celtic Knot drawing lesson is great for high school art or as a middle school art project any time of the year.
✏️ You can find this complete lesson and worksheets used here:
www.insideoutartteacher.com/product/celtic-knot-drawing-art-lesson/
The art elements of line, value, and reflective symmetry are explored in the creation of a charcoal or graphite Celtic Knot design. Students love how simple these designs are to make, and they achieve amazing results even with no prior drawing experience.
Celtic Knots are closely associated with Celtic and Irish culture. Incorporating them into a St. Patrick's Day art project adds a cultural touch that aligns with the theme of the celebration.
Celtic Knots often symbolize interconnectedness and eternity due to their continuous and unbroken designs. This symbolism can be tied to St. Patrick's Day, which celebrates the patron saint of Ireland. Students can explore the symbolic connections between their artwork and the holiday.
The option to use either charcoal or graphite provides flexibility for students to choose the medium that suits their preferences. This versatility allows for a diverse range of artistic expressions within the same project.
While ideal for St. Patrick's Day, the Celtic Knot drawing lesson is designed to be a versatile art project suitable for any time of the year. This adaptability ensures that the lesson remains relevant and can be integrated into the curriculum beyond the specific holiday.

This is so useful. I’m just getting back into art after a really really long time. So thank you so much
I’m a beginner and then helped so much!! Definitely subscribing! Keep it up!!
I am loving your videos! They are helping me with my lesson planning assignments, and providing great inspiration! I am working on my Art Education degree (second career art teacher in the making, lol). Much appreciated 🙂! -Amy
Love the art supplies org. for tables!

Mi piace tanto lavorare così domando si può fare en tela per fare un quadro. Grazie si rispondi.
Thank you ❤
This idea is awesome! Here in New Zealand we have to have an artist model to relate to this.... Did you have any particular artist in mind when you created this learning plan ?
You mean the ancient artists. use a picture book artist from NZ. This worked well in primary school. You will love acrylic painting with pdf lessons by The Sherpa. Ginger Cooks daughter. NZ as well
the examples posted on the wall at the end were mind-blowing.
So glad I found you! I am a retired history teacher but have been asked to teach high school art (along with history) in a new hybrid school. I love art but have never taught it. I’m binge watching your videos.
Yay!!! Thank you so much. Sorry I’m just seeing this comment. I wish you the best of luck I hope you find some things to help in your journey.
Is this the tripod with the arm? Temu: "360 Degree Rotation Universal Mobile Phone Stand Holder Lazy Long Arm Phone Holder"
I really want to do this with my class! Thanks for the inspiration. WIll you share your lesson?
Sure. Here is the link to the instructions and full video. This lesson is one of my favorites. www.insideoutartteacher.com/simple-mindful-art-lesson-inspired-by-neurographic-art/
Great video! I know your students must love your art classes!
Do you ever have students who look through, re organize, or comment on other student work? I'm wondering how students accept feedback knowing others can see it. Any reluctance? Thanks!
I mostly just leave positive comments on padlet. However, I will call a student up or speak to them privately if I have a concern. I love having the images organized by class and alphabetically at all times so I can skim quickly and see who needs help or feedback. Ill also leave comments right in our gradebook program so they can see them privately there.
❤❤ so nice, new friend
