Man, that's pretty cool. I really enjoyed your recollection. It's my favorite series too, but as I got into it later in life I couldn't recollect physical stuff so that's very nice to see 👏

So are we actually;;going to get to fight the enemy ship to ship or just fight their crews during boarding actions? I'm interested either way but I'll be much more interested if we actually get to control our ship in battle. It always annoys me in games when we're playing as he commander of an armed ship but the ship battles are limited to cutscenes instead of being playable.

No one could ever convince me Final Fantasy 8 is a bad game. I still love it to this day.

The PSP will always be my favourite. It was so awesome having PS2 level graphics on a handheld.

So Yasuke was a retainer and a retainer is like the european squire. A squire follows you around like a pet and carries your things and opens doors for you, sharpens your sword, cleans your armor ect. Ubisoft started saying that he was a samurai (despite the lack of evidence) in order to support their narrative and justify the decision to make an african playable main character in a game set in japan. This is purely for DEI, ESG reasons and that's why it backfired. Also japan got angry because Ubisoft was changing their history in order to make a game with a diverse protagonist, something like black Cleopatra, black Achilles ect.

I can say in all honesty, even if you love the lore and world of Assassin's Creed like I do AND you've played Ghost of Tsushima... you're likely not excited for this game. I've 100%d every game in the series, I love the lore and characters. But I also love GoT and how respectful of the culture and how immersive it is to be a real samurai turned ninja. It honestly feels like Ubisoft is genuinely upset that someone did it first after years and years of telling us no. It feels like they're saying "here, here's what you want but haha with a little twist. Should've been more specific with your request!" Everyone talking about how AC has never been historically accurate because of the Isu are so completely infuriatingly disingenuous. The entire point of the series is that it's HISTORICAL fiction. Fiction is used to fill the gaps in recorded history. Stark contrast to FICTIONALIZED history where a big black slave is respected and given the rank of lord over every citizen in Japan. Will I play this game? Yeah probably a few months after release when it's discounted to dust and I can buy a used copy Ubisoft doesn't see a penny of. But it's going to require every bit of mental gymnastics I'm capable of to immerse myself and convince myself Yass K is could've happened that way, if he kept his helmet on the entire game or if the whole game can be played as the.... woman....

Actually im happy to see people who say that they are looking forward to this game. Power to you! To help understand some of the controversy and why Japanese people are indeed offended by this game, some of it though goes back to your own sentence: "He was made a Samurai in post." The whole problem started when the trailer was released and ubisoft claimed historical accuracy until the point where people can learn Japanese histroy through this game. What happened after that was kind of a war on Wikipedia. Until the release of the trailer, the word "Samurai" was beein explained as a title of nobility for Japanese warriors on the English Wikipedia page, also "Yasuke" was a warrior and retainer on the English Wikipedia page. After the release of the trailer, Yasukes Wikipedia page got altered countless times, until the point where Wikipedia decides to lock his status of a Samurai. So there is no way anyone can change it. Further, because the title "Samurai" is not changeable anymore, the editors agreed on changing the whole meaning of the word "Samurai", which is now not a noble title anymore, but just a word wich means "warrior". It would be the same, as in European medieval times, any man at arm would now be described as a knight, which is not correct. So Ubisoft has passively changed the meaning of the word Samurai and has locked his status as a Samurai on the english wikipedia page (only in English. In anyother language Yasuke is not a Samurai and Samurai is still a noble title). Further the main editor on the wikipedia page was Thomas Lockley himself. That is the man that Ubisoft stated as their source for making Yasuke a Samurai. He wrote the English novel about Yasuke, which is a novel in English but not in Japanese. His Japenese version is completly different and is not a fictional novel. The problem was that his work outside of Japan was sold as non-fiction. Now we are coming to the biggest problem, he accused Japan of slave trade. In the time Yasuke went to japan, slave trades of Africans was forbidden by the Pope. The Portugese had no right to bring slaves to Japan, so Lockley claimed that the slave trade was engaged by the Japanese. Thats a huge accusation which brought the whole game to the Japanese national parlament for discussion. On top of that, Ubisoft has confused China with Japan in many occasions during gameplay. Chinese architecture, Chinese writings, the way they paint pictures and hold the pen is Chinese. Copyright problems with banners which ubisoft used without permission, insulting usage of custodies and so on. Its clear that Ubisoft had zero consultancy about Japan. We in Europe dont value our cultures anymore, but if we take our aproach and put it on a foreign culture, which may still be highly valued by its people, then it can lead to offending people. The saddest thing is that Ubisoft could have sold millions of copies in the first week of release if they just just did a plain normal game without controversy, but now they will have to hope to survive and we might lose a software developer which brought us many beautiful games.
