This music and video work is produced by a unique automated data sonification and graphic interface system that uses sunlight energy to create a specific sequence of sounds. Animated data wheel graphics depict the data used to make the composition.
The work is created using Raspbian Code, MAX for Live and PD A/V production software. The system creates a musical 'composition' that is autonomously controlled by the patterns of photovoltaic energy harvested from a Prototype solar generator's solar energy regulator device.
The creative work comprises four distinct melodic voices that sonify energy consumption, production and storage data. The video image allows the audience to "see" the changing light patterns while "hearing" the sound the light creates.
The recorded sound melodies were transcribed and then performed on acoustic Instruments.
