    Hi Izzy, I was invited play a round of golf this morning at Montrejau by two friends who have been playing for many years and play off 18 and 24 respectively. I had your metronome ticking in my head on every shot and played every one to walz tempo. I had almost given up on the driver before as it was so erratic but this morning I hit every drive really well, either straight or slight fade. I kept waiting for the wheels to fall off but they didn't. I am still not great on long irons or fairway woods but, otherwise, I played a solid round. Never more than two over par for any hole expect one and very nearly made actual par on one hole. I was made up :) I actually scored much better than the other two stroke for stroke and was a long way in front once my handicap was taken into consideration. I would love you to do a video on long irons and fairway woods as the other videos you have done have helped me so much. Thank you. Shame I don't live in Canada, I could get lessons.

    A question. I noticed that all the modern golfers keep their leading heel on the ground but all the older greats lifted them. Any reason? I have to lift mine because I am old and it makes it easier to get rotation but why did they do it?

    • @rhythmicgolf3720
      @rhythmicgolf3720 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi NMonte, it was more of the style of swinging for the time. Also, going further back in time the shafts were whippier so the coiling was more rotational, they had to be smoother to time the flex of the shaft. Glad you are lifting the heel, yes it does help with rotation and power!!! Izzy

    I only just discovered Rhythmic Golf and it has changed my game. I am 74 and took up golf just three months ago to help my brother, who loves golf but he had a minor stroke last year. The first video I watched was the one on how to fix a slice. I have watched endless videos on how to fix it but yours opened my eyes and gave me the solution. I watched it first thing this morning and then went straight to the range. I did what you said about positioning to promote a draw and - oh my giddy aunt - it worked :) I spent an hour hitting balls with my driver and only sliced once when I lost my footing and leaned back. The other thing that was a game changer for me was the tempo. I was a musician so keeping time in my head is easy for me and I found that the pause at the top of the backswing and keeping the tempo in my head made a huge difference. I wasn't thinking of all the things I could do wrong, just the music. I used Under the skies of Paris, because I live in France, but any waltz will do :)

    Took this to the range today thinking of it as a four to one ratio. one to start, four is the top, then one to start down but continue to count so the club is not jerked down. Just counting on my own, no mechanical metronome needed. Only took a few minutes before I started hitting them very solid. Once I found correct count speed for say mid iron, I found myself still counting even between shots lol. I've been in a slump even though I've got everything I need to play well; good grip ,good stance, good fundamentals ,etc. but have always struggled with tempo. I can already tell this is what I needed. Thanx so much rhythm Man.

    • @rhythmicgolf3720
      @rhythmicgolf3720 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello there. When using the metronome this way the beats loop themselves after 4 beats called 4/4 timing. Therefore there are 4 pieces to the pie. 3:1 Ratio timing is used when you strike the ball on the 1. Take away on 1 strike on one. I have a couple of videos that go deeper into it. If you take the club back on 1 and strike the ball on 4, we call this a waltz timing pattern which is good as well. Thank you for your question, if there is anything else I can help you with please send a message. All the best, Izzy

      Hi Mike, you change tempos. The longer the stroke the slower the tempo. I suggest to experiment what tempo/ distance range that works best for you. It is a bit time consuming but it does work. You can use the same tempo for lets say 10 to 20 yards. What you experiment with is the touch in those ranges and discover what you are comfortable with. Hope that helps. Izzy

      Hi Izzy; thanks for your reply & this amazing video. I actually just returned from the range where I started trying this & I'm surprised no one else is using your method given how well it works with immediate feedback if you're off. Obviously 1 session didn't solve my tempo issue but certainly gives me something more useful as a tool than someone talking about tempo without any demonstration. I also watched your video using a metronome against pro swings & was amazed by their nearly perfect repetition of their tempos. Couples & Woods were really standouts in that manner. I'm really surprised that when great tempos are mentioned, Payne Stewart's name is rarely heard. After not having seen his swing in so long, I'm amazed at its fluid smoothness that matches those of Couples & Els who are usually the first names mentioned when swings are discussed. I'd give a lot to have that swing. I've already watched that video 5 times & I know I'll be watching it regularly as a reminder of my goal. Thanks again for your reply & sharing your method. Very helpful, the 200bpm sounds really fast .... until you swing a club back and find you are having to wait for beat 4 !! I’ve shown this to my golf buddies and we are all agreed it’s beneficial. Our lowest hcap in our group ( 4 hcap) has benefitted the most, he has a very fast backswing and is prone to hooking if transition is rushed. He still can’t do 200bpm, but his tempo has improved immensely and he’s winning the money !

    • @rhythmicgolf3720
      @rhythmicgolf3720 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Mike, thank you for your comments. I suggest you wait for beat 5, that is the full loop. Beat 4 is a waltz rhythm so you would need to slow the tempo down to approximately 150 to strike it on the 4th...give it a try and see if those suggestions help!!!...Izzy

    I timed your putting stroke with your 84 metronome setting using Coach's Eye and you actually are using a 2/1 tempo; .67 backswing and .34 downswing. This is generally what the pros do, not 1:1

    • @rhythmicgolf3720
      @rhythmicgolf3720 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Robert thank you for your comments. What you are describing is ratio. Slower back stroke with a little acceleration. The tempo I am using is 84. Within that 84 my ratio may be .67 to .34. Tempo is a guide for timing points. There is no such thing as 2/1 tempo, tempo is a measurement of time between two pulses.

      Thanks for the clarification. That makes a lot of sense. I had read that most pros have a time of .9 to 1.2 sec for "start of take back to ball strike" time with a ratio of 2/1 with their putter, which seems to be the case when I time their strokes in my rather crude method. I thought your 1-2 between tee pegs (a 1:1 ratio) should have been 1-2 back swing and 3 to the ball giving the 2/1 ratio and some acceleration, which is what you seem to do in your stroke. I like to set the metronome at 180 so I get three beats per second; two for the back swing and 1 for the forward motion until the ball is struck giving me the 2:1 ratio over one second.

      You can download one directly from Google. The sounds are the same without the higher pitched one but that's what I'm using now. I've changed mine a few times to try to getting the setting that feels best to me so prepare to change it. Your feel may vary day to day.

      Hi Moustafa, most people when listening to music count 1234 looping...standard stuff...so as I increase the tempo for descriptive use because the 160 counting is twice as fast for 3 to ratio timing...i'm just trying to use the term this way instead of staying 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and...

    Using a 3/4 time signature (waltz) is much easier in my opinion. 1,2,3 on the way back and strike on 1 on the way back down. This gives you the 3:1 ratio and also separates the backswing and the downswing counting to help eliminate the hurried transition in case the timing is a little off on the way back.

    • @rhythmicgolf3720
      @rhythmicgolf3720 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi XX, yes you can use a Waltz style of timing...no doubt about it. Most people have trouble tapping their hands or foot to a simple beat with a 4/4 time signature!!!! Waltz is more challenging. 3 to 1 ratio is a general area most higher level golfers are at. Tony Finau, is closer to 2 to 1..maybe 1.5!!! lol. So instead of hitting the ball on 3, yes you can hit it on 4...thank you so much for your comments...would you like me to make a video on 3/4 timing??...all the best!!! Izzy

    Is the ratio always 4 to 1? Not sure why you say 3 to 1?? Backswing 4 beats and downswing 1.

      Hi there, I'm sorry for the late reply. I say it this way because the start is at a "1" not a zero. So in a pie example 1 to 2 is one piece, 2 to 3 a second and so on...hope that helps, Izzy

    Interesting but not applicable to me without more information. What is the ratio in the movement? How do I figure out the timing relative to the backswing, transition and downswing? How do I exercise this timing to make sure my tempo is correct?

    • @rhythmicgolf3720
      @rhythmicgolf3720 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Stuart, thank you for your questions. There is no perfect 4 to 1 ..or 3 to 1 ratios in a golf swing, we are all a little different in that area. If you can grasp the timing points with a metronome and move the tempo up and down you should find the comfortable tempo that is right for you and be able to time your swing to a variety of tempos in search of that right number. I have a few videos that demonstrate this...one is ..five different tempos/ five swing speeds...Find your pause and 3 ways to time your golf swing. I hope this helps...any more questions feel free to send me a message anytime...all the best..Izzy!!
