Will changing the oil to syenthic oil help

Have them replace the timing chain. It sounds like mine did before they put a new one on.. Used and stretched out..

I replaced my VTC and the noise is still there each and every morning regardless of the temperature. What else?!

Is anyone having any similar issues with an Acura TSX 2008. We came up with a scanner p1009.... Got a second opinion, and it appears to be the fuel pump.

I've heard that the current replacement actuator is no better that the original actuator. I.e., it's the same actuator that they made originally, so the replacement will also give you problems. Have they FIXED the actuators yet so that the one you replace it with will no longer have that problem?

I wish I would have done my video before most people were experiencing these problems because I fix this and address it directly most of the time it's the VTC actuator or the VVT actuator

My car started doing that clanking noise on morning start ups and would go away once the engine got warm but now it does that clanking noise always and when I start driving the noise gets worse it sounds like a tractor

Hi Everyone I have Honda Accord 2014 Touring model. Am having the same issue grinding noice on cold start. Went to dealer changed VTC. After one week hearing again. Again they changed Starter. No use of that. Today they told its because of bad tension belt. It's the worst car that I ever had. Hate Honda. Do anyone know is that because of tension belt? They changed VTC but no use. I have a 2010 honda accord with 111xxx miles, and I have the same issue with the start up noise... but when I accelerate slowly I hear it still till I pass about 25mph or 30mph.

my dealer told me that they have to hear the noise first and they haven't heard it yet. I'm leaving my car overnight there every night until they hear it. this is day 2. I hear it every day.

my car has been making this noise and all Honda could tell me is not coverd and then I find out theres a recall on my drivers side airbag BUT no one told me till i was complaining about my car making a grinding noise ..

Thanks for posting this. My 2011 Honda Accord had been making this sound on cold-starts over the past year. Your post gave me additional information to bring to the Honda service department. They made the same fix to my accord under my extended warranty.

Just got my VTC actuator fix for free by Honda . Keep in mind that my car was out of warranty (2009, 50k). Went to the dealer a few days ago ready no negotiate the cost of repair thinking that it would take 2 hour of work ($118 x2) (hours are stated in Honda Service Bulletin 09-010 information), the VTC actuator part ($250), plus diagnostic fees ($118) should cost no more than $700. But was pleasantly surprised when a service consultant announced that there is 15 years/150K extended warranty for the VTC actuator. Interestingly, I called general Honda number before I went to the local dealer, provided my VIN # only to hear that there is nothing they can do for me. I was very disappointed with Honda thinking that I would never buy it again, and would recommend against buying Honda to all my friends. Now, my trust to Honda is restored. Also, the service consultant told me that the VTC actuator is an updated design so it will not break again in near future as many internet posts claim. Email if you have question

i get the same noise from my 08 accord..i only have 62k miles on it....

I just had mine fixed at $833. Doing a little research shows me this is a bigger problem than I thought it was. I'm going back to the dealership on Monday for other issues and I hope they have some answers/explanations.

well thats the same noise i hear on my 05' rsx type s... thats a lil rediculous that happens to all these cars and its never been recalled so they can fix their F*CK up instead of the ppl that bought these cars having to pull the money out of their pockets!

Steve, thank you for this video. I just started hearing this at about 69.2k miles on my 2010 Accord Coupe EX. Local dealer quoted me $300 for the replacement. They will be rebuilding the engine in my Accord to replace the piston rings following an oil consumption test.

Same issue here with a 2013 civic si, started under 10k miles. Had it to the dealer twice, neither time they heard the issue so i took a video and showed them. They then told me about the accords and crvs with the same problem. They said they stopped fixing them because the problem comes back. What the hell happened to honda reliability?

I've had this problem since 2011 on my 2009 Honda Accord. Always a huge run around every... Single... Time... Honda always tells me it's the vtc actuator, they always "fix" it, then a few months later, it starts making the noise again when I start up and also when the oil is at 30%. As of a year ago, it just happens right after they fix it and anytime regardless of if I just got he oil changed. Now they are telling me it's all bc I have a high mileage car, I just need to use high mileage oil, on top of adding oil every 1K miles. Whhhaaatt? It's comical. I told him how it is bc the car is high mileage when you look at the service history I've been brining the car in for this problem when it was low miles. Run.. Around... Also the air bags are out, had the break issue when I bought the car, keyless entry never worked right, fuse would always go out or the inside some light, rattling noise in the front, and now power steering pump is cracked and making an awful noise and leaking fluid,

My 2008 honda accord (4 cyl) just started making the same noise. Should start a class action lawsuit as it appears Honda doesn't want to fix the issue. It WILL ultimately result in catastrophic engine failure if not addressed.

There is no fix. Honda stopped trying.

Our 2008 Honda Accord experienced the identical problem at 57,000 miles in 2011. It was repaired by replacing or repairing the CAM GEAR. It is AGAIN making the same noise as in this video. It started at about 120,000 miles this year. Honda has an issue regarding the V-TECH actuator. They refuse to address it at corporate and all of the service departments downplay this problem or deny it. This will be my LAST Honda!

Hi all... my 2008 Honda accord Coupe is making the same noise... the service technician at Honda advised today that this was due to the VTC Actuator that's going to cost me $538 to fix... did any of your service guys fix the issue for free? does anyone know if this is a silent recall or not?

Honda has VTC issues back to Accord 2008 until 2014 !!! My CRV 2014 the same yours engine, only 3 months old has this rattle noise at millage 1,500 km (1000 miles) temp outside around -12 Celsius. (10 F). Have yours car fixed done ? Honda has TSB 09-010 cover up to Accord, CRV model year from 2008 to 2012, but actuality 2014 model year still has this issue ! Seem Honda can't address root cause of the problem.

What was it? My 2012 doing the same thing.
