Fifth Wave Manufacturing brings you the latest from inside manufacturing machines, and the latest technologies coming to manufacturing from outside the industry. Enjoy and learn--and let us know what you really want to see!
DFM and its effect on fabrication business
This video has really valuable, usable information in it. Peter Kitzler, an expert in DFM and its effect on fabricating, has one of his customers with him to speak first-hand about the customer experience of DFM. The customer is Adam Pautsch, Senior Product Designer at Antunes, a company specializing in food preparation equipment. You'll get real numbers that explain the magnitude of the savings.

MSG's portable pipe laser market takes shape...taking shapes
มุมมอง 6714 วันที่ผ่านมา
In less than two minutes, you'll see exactly how this impressive product that does measurement, looks for eccentricity, etc. works. It reports each laser-based measurement to a system (in this case, a laptop) immediately. One of MSG's goals is to take measurements away from the end of the line, and get the information while an operator can do something about it. CEO Matthias Kramer demonstrates...
Interview with Matthias Kramer of MSG Maschinenbau
มุมมอง 3321 วันที่ผ่านมา
MSG Maschinenbau has some impressive, even futuristic, products that help create a "digital twin" of each and every pipe coming down a line. Their "Weightless Contouring" normalizes the data to produce the actual weightless computerized contouring of each pipe. Check out their white paper at www.msg-measuring.tech/en/weightless-contouring and click "Download data sheet."
DFM interview #4 of 4
มุมมอง 11หลายเดือนก่อน
Peter Kitzler answers questions about the role of software in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and it goes well beyond just the panel bender. Additionally, he introduces us to the internal applications specialists in the Hamilton, OH US headquarters who can give actionable advice to make the gains promised by DFM.
DFM interview 3 of 4
มุมมอง 132 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this third of four interviews, Salvagnini's Peter Kitzler talks about a potential knowledge gap when it comes to Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and what Salvagnini is doing about it to help their customers make the gains promised by DFM.

Sort of a grand finale, Cruz creates a relay run that encompasses the work on all three parts. Plus, we move the camera to a different position that is a side view, sitting even with the bending area. We get a chance to see some things we missed before, like the spring-loaded backguage fingers.

A quick peek at the second part and what it looks like when it's finished. Not much room for error here.

We do a "relay" to move from one job to the next without stopping. Cruz shows us how to program this on the 4ie for parts 2 and 3. He narrates the proceedings, including how the robot grips and moves the tooling (over 90 feet of tooling is at the ready in the EGB 6013e). We go through gripper changes for the different part jobs and we show the tiny, accurate bends made by this automated system.

In this video we learn about the magnetic system employed to defend against picking up more than one blank at a time from the cart. Additionally we learn about the second blank and second part more than 10 bends will make it into a small, complex part that you can hold between your index finger and thumb.

We start right in, bending our first part. We learn about the robot with a gripper change, and we do a tooling setup that corresponds to the first part we are going to make. The robot has two functions: 1) to to all the setup work, and 2) to act as the operator.

In this introductory Under the Hood video, AMADA Bending Applications Engineer Marcos Cruz takes us through the parts we are going to bend in this video series. Additionally, he takes us through much of the preparatory information that appears on the new 4ie controller.
CLOOS large welding robot

At an open house in June 2024, CLOOS showed off some of its latest systems (the company manufactures everything you see, including the robots). Here we see a large-scale welding robot in action.
Apera AI sorts bolts using two parallel AI processes
มุมมอง 562 หลายเดือนก่อน
The idea here is to pick out, align, and arrange a series of bolts. An AI process helps the robot do this. There is a second AI process because there is a second sorting operation, and you'll see what it is in this very short video.
Autonomous teamwork from Neura robots

Mulitple Neura robots are set up along the edge of a work area. Note that the robots maintain autonomous motion while participating in a teamwork-oriented task.
DFM interview #2 of 4
มุมมอง 162 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this second of four videos, Salvagnini's Peter Kitzler talks about the cost savings of adopting a Design for Manufacturing (DFM) strategy that takes advantage of the strengths of the panel benders from his company. A few small design changes can reduce costs significantly, and can reduce the number of parts necessary in a product build.

Well done
Is that possible for you to send me the parts drawing of this shelf for reference ? I am interested in buying the P4
This is truly amazing.
Fantastic example to how Design for Manufacturing can improve not only the product but reduce the number of parts, and assembly time as well.
