Skate Rat's Memoir | Original Acoustic Folk Song
Original song by Nick Kroehnke. It's a slice of small town nostalgia. "Running" from the cops was all in good fun in our tiny town. Think of the Duke boys but with skateboards ;)
Lyrics:
Sidewalks, little shops, mini mart pizza rolls
Maple plies, sunny skies, and a kicker in the road
Swimming in the backyard when the pavement was too hot
We tore up that little town running from the cops
Living like a band of outlaws
Getting dropped off by my grandma
Tearing up the local skatepark
Getting kicked out round about dark
Fast cars, burnin tars, learning to drive stick
Learning how to drink beer without getting sick
Downtown farmer’s market was our meeting spot
We tore up that little town running from the cops
Living like a band of outlaws
Getting dropped off by my grandma
Tearing up the local skatepark
Getting kicked out round about dark
Pay check, stain the deck, he moved in with her
Shacked up, broke up, the baby is a girl
Burgers in the backyard the grill is getting hot
We still love this little town and half our friends are cops
Living like a band of outlaws
Getting dropped off by my grandma
Tearing up the local skatepark
Getting kicked out round about dark

Great snowy day tune. Thanks for sharing with us city slickers!
This one's a keeper, Nick! For some reason - "No shame in a life of a tree" - makes me think of Grace Slick and "Eskimo Blue Day," even the chords kind of echo between songs. Of course, Jefferson Airplane drew on the same Blues tradition that you're so beautifully expressing, you are part of a rich fabric! Thank you for sharing with us.
Thank you! Interesting. I'm an Airplane fan for sure. Also love Jack and Jorma's band, "Hot Tuna". My electric bass is a Jack Casady model Epiphone.
Same! Great little blues song. Especially like how you shift to a soft voice when quoting "Mother," Really tells a story!
I liked the song, congratulations 👏
Thank you for sharing that
I really liked listening to you
You really need a cigar box guitar ukulele. Plenty of builders down that way. They are pretty tough and not as easily damaged from moisture or temperature changes.
Not a bad idea. I have an old cheapo Luna soprano uke I should be using to play outdoors. Need a beater guitar too. Had my eye on a Gretsch Jim Dandy parlor.
This is sweetness! Far be it for me to give you advice, but it would be pretty darn cool to see you making these music videos with the camera in the bow of the boat filming you as you play and sing just floating down some scenic river. Now that, would be cool. 😀👻
Ha! I've been considering something like that. These instruments are just so delicate and expensive (as you know). Bad combination lol. I do have a cheap Luna uke I could use for that. Apparently there's also such thing as a plastic waterproof uke (Kala Waterman).
@@cumberlandfolkie I love my little Luna. I have the peace model.
@@tomboooty Very nice. They honestly aren't bad. My Fender plays and sounds much better, but the Luna was like $40 when I bought it. They're more like $70 now.
@@cumberlandfolkie after watching 'Paducah Burning' I was wondering if you had a waterproof case or just a lot of confidence. And a Fender uke! How cool.
@@62swampboy62 I try not to get too far away from the truck with my nicer instruments. Heck yeah man. It even has pickups. Fender also makes a uke that looks like a telecaster haha
Just came over from the Rover channel. This. Is. Cool. ❤
