I am a big fan of Whetman gear as it is all very well thought out and innovative however there is in my opinion a shortcoming with this item. The velcro fixing is only suitable for a thinner paddle shaft. My paddle is a standard Werner shaft and the wrap has insufficient overlap to provide convincing security of attachment - the fluffy part of the tab needs to an inch longer to provide a secure attachment that would provide me with sufficient 'reassurance'. Hopefully the fluffy part of the tab will be manufactured in a longer length to overcome this issue.

Do you have an approximate grid ref for this? We are hoping to cross this river with lots of gear and are just trying to scope it out. Maybe I need a pack raft!!

Its a shame Lettmann dont supply foam with the boat so that you can fix to the footplate..

I used paracord and it held my bodyweight easily. 7 stranded. Amazing how strong it is.

Awesome stuff! I've seen the crab stick before online somewhere. last summer in Austria, there was a situation in which it would have helped a lot. So I bought it today 😀 . Any instructions on what's the best way to tie the stick to the paddle? sleeve?
