Well, if people in the uk are not happy with the tax rise. Perhaps everybody literally, everybody in the uk should not pay their council tax for whatever reason they feel justified in not doing so.

Might have just shat myself when you mentioned which council plans to do this…. Maidenhead… my town is already collapsing from within, empty offices, extremely high business rents in the high street meaning half the shops have closed down or been switched to chains. The council here is very corrupt, everyone knows it. Buildings that suddenly catch fire so they can be knocked down to build apartments that don’t get filled because the rents are too high. I live with my parents because it’s unviable to actually live here renting while working a reasonably decent wage. I’m shocked that this shithole town is continuing to fuck us all over… and plans to fuck everyone else over too… what a joke…

People need to sit down and calculate a 4.99 percent increase in their council tax,and pay the council that amount and no more.

Do they no realise some people will not be able to pay more 🙄

The council tax is a fraud. Councils are corporations they do not care to the people. The council everywhere are elected only in the UK they are corporations and they are not accountable

We keep paying more for less and less it is a disgrace. Public services have been taken over by private companies to leech our money and give us a worse service.

I have no idea where the council tax is going. my family have paid it for the past 60years and haven't seen anything that has ever benefitted us other than the rubbish bins. our roads are all broken and hardly usable. Every election cycle we get all kinds of brain dead promises of stuff that might be helpful but is never coming. while the rich people at the other side of town get their roads fixed and planning permissions granted no problem. The UK is visibly corrupt.

All productive members of society should just leave the UK. They want to run the country into the ground so we might as well give them what they want.

Mine went up by about 15%. We didnt even get a letter about changes, however did receive a letter to inform us of arrears. Great stuff.

If TRUMP can’t eliminate the corruption in the next 4 years and sets a precedent for the UK to follow both empires will crash.😊

This is double taxation. Welfare, policing, fire brigade MUST be covered by Income tax and VAT receipts!!!!!! Anywhere else in the world council tax is for Libraries, pavements, parkings (MUCH CHEAPER Public Parkings in Europe vs England) and Rubbish collection,.....

Factor in the huge pensions that have been promised… where’s that money coming from?

You will own nothing and be happy - people were warning years ago but mainly the lefties were laughing saying it's a conspiracy theory. Not only council tax but forced green climate change utilities will be pushed onto people and if you can't afford that then sorry - either default on your mortgage, downsize or move back in with mum and dad. Only the rich will own homes and it should be a wake up call for everyone as banks have started their own portfolios.

You have to take into account the council tax covers a lot of things like cleaning the streets, fixing street lights , collecting garden waste , staff to help the public use council services , police etc. the only problem is that you're more likely to see batman and robin than the police, the bins were removed and rubbish is now everywhere, the pavements are like they have been carpet bombed, 1/4 of the street lights don't even work, garden waste collection is now an extra charge and all council offices are now off limits to the public . This is the oldest con in the book. They say it will go up 25% and then put it up by 12.5%. the dum dums will all be celebrating how it wasn't put up 25% 🤦‍♂️

Councils go bankrupt because incompetent morons are selected in it because they know someone who knows someone.

Council pensions are absolutely ridiculous! Thats were most of the money goes.

Here in liverpool our mayor used 89k of public money to fund his own personal employment tribunal (judge gave a nil award due to his own bad behaviour). That's what we are paying for, rich people shenanigans! He blocked me and wouldn't engage with me at meetings when I'd ask "have you paid that 89k back yet joe" spineless

You know what, I don't mind a 25% increase, if I never hit a pothole again. Its cheaper than the damage caused to my vehicles

Meanwhile they want to collect black bins every 4 weeks instead of 1 or 2. Less litter picks and road sweeps, and generally less to show for it. Where is all this money going?
