Ok, I had the exact same reaction when he 1 hit Malphas. And then I learned that Malphas takes stacked damage by each piece of the bird through the separate portals. So Malphas took Hell On Earth damage 3 times due to the 3 open portals. Pretty insane.

How do you earn dt when you taunt in the resting area?
Vergil's book taunt gives him DT.
So clever thing he’s doing here - notice he will trick out of a taunt if it’s not the book so that he can get the book taunt. Gives up after three tries. Also the air taunt prior to killing an enemy gives DT but also using Beowulf uppercut on bosses as they’re dying (disintegrating) continues to give DT. First thought he was doing it as a meme until I realized the DT going up 🤣
