@rekmargaming2942 Combat patrol, boarding actions or just small size 40k? When playing combat patrol I noticed some things done better compared to the regular detachments. Vigilants e.g. may select Lethal/precision targets each battleround instead of at the beginning of the battle. Or strat to gain +1 bf / +1 A is nice. On the other hand they are limiting weapons to low AP variants or leadership of the priest to inquisitorial henchmen instead of vigilants. I am absolutely planning to run at the competitive level with agents, but currently waiting for next MFM to see if IA remains to be ignored or finally gets some love. Somebody proposed a list with basically all Immolators and chimeras. Sort of a mechanized guard army. But usually I am Not a fan of mono builds and the investment would still be 4 more Immolators and 3 more chimeras with an uncertain future for agents. Anyways - would be great to share some experience for agents as finding other players is rare🤠

@@Impgent Hi there. Sorry for the delay in the reply but it has been hectic going back to work after the Xmas break. Biggest issue I had with games was that I limited myself by only playing what I had fully painted at the time hence the three battle line units, an IA squad plus Draxas (as the rules in place meant only one unique character and no other inquisitor model readily available). In retrospective now if this rule wasn't in place then should have had an assassin and reworked the list. With that said, however, the layout for the small boards didn't really work as the lack of ranged firepower against two Necron armies and the Grey Knights hurt, a lot. There was because there was a clear pathway down the centre of each layout along with the objectives etc. Even though I tried to hide the DW in cover game they were targeted first each game and then the Vigilants and Breachers just died to mass fire like my 'Guard do (but with that army the Leman Russ', Rogal Dorns and Baneblade really help out lol). Personally think that the Agents can be good, but they do need an army rule that supports this aim. Just think out loud this could be something like allies (outside of knights) for them but limited to 'Guard, Admech and codex Marines - there is enough lore out there about inquisitors demanding help from these that it would fit and shore up some of the weaknesses from firepower perspective. The detachments also need a little more work as the only really effective one, to my mind, is the Imperialis Fleet and the Grotmas one (Veiled Blade) is not helpful in the slightest with the points costs attached to it. Trying to get 2000pts painted over the next two weeks, so hopefully will be able to get a proper size game in soon to vlog on ;) Cheers Matt aka Rekmar

Hi Matt, I see. The two things I am doing here is running Subductors (3+/4++) and using transports to add a bit of durability. Vigilants and excation squads don't really do a lot. I mainly use them for backfield and secondaries. Lack of anti elite firepower remains a big issue. Priests with Subductors can do a bit. Priests increase S/A +3 which helps a bit. And you don't want to go into Grey knights termies with Grey Knight termies from IA😂

Btw Alexander Zhelonkin apparently went 4-0-1 at Hyper 331 GT (32 players) with Imperialis Fleet. Running Watchmaster with 10 DW in a Corvus Black Star (!), two 12 agents of the imperium with Greyfax and a generic inquisitor in chimeras, two Navy Breachers / one with Draxus, Grey Knight termies and all (!) 4 assassins. Auspex tactics had it in a recent video. I got to try that list although I would Not have considered it competitive

No to Alexios - simple reason being that it dominates unless someone has a way to exile it and the games become revolving around him. Same with slicer to me. However both can go in as will make the deck stronger 👍 Cheers R

Did consider Charix, but just couldn’t get my head around them in a deck that needs lots of islands when I wasn’t mono-U hence the exclusion. Yes the 17 toughness for 2UU is great in here early on but need Plagon to make them really go but without Plagon islands become ridiculously important 🤷‍♂️ Cheers R

Not sure… if it was tap exert then yes would be auto include but paying R for RR and potentially giving something haste and losing the ability to untap it next turn doesn’t seem great 🤷‍♂️ Maybe I’m just being negative but really don’t see an upside here… R

​@@rekmargaming2942 I only see upside, to be honest. It enters untapped if you have a Mountain, which I would expect in mono-red. As you mentioned, you pay R to generate RR, meaning it's mana neutral-you’re not actually paying anything for the haste, other than losing one single untapped land next turn. It’s not like you always have to exert the land; it’s just another red land unless you want to haste something at some point. Running Etali and similar cards, this can likely happen. Even better, since it generates RR, you can haste out two creatures if you spend one of the "special" red mana on each. Of course if you don't like haste then its not that good 🥰
