I hated it

*History of the ride* It was originally installed at Luna Park Sydney in 1995 as the Big Dipper. Then, in 2001, the ride was demolished from Luna Park Sydney and was relocated to Dreamworld on the same year. The ride was called 'Cyclone' from 2001 until 2015 when it was refurbished and called 'Hot Wheels SideWinder'. The Cyclone closed on 12 October 2015 for a refurbishment to become part of a new Motorsport Experience precinct at Dreamworld. As part of the upgrades, the ride was fitted with a new train built by Vekoma that featured onboard audio and renamed Hot Wheels SideWinder. The Motorsport Experience precinct opened on 26 December 2015 with the refurbished roller coaster and V8 Supercars RedLine simulators, as well as a collection of Peter Brock's cars in Brock's Garage. In February 2020, Dreamworld announced that the Hot Wheels SideWinder would be given a rebranding and a refurbishment for ABC Kids World. Soon after the announcement, repainting commenced on the coaster with a new colour scheme. The tracks were painted aqua blue while the supports were painted white. The coasters new name and theme were officially announced on the morning of 20 December 2020. The ride reopened to the public later that day with a new colour scheme on both the tracks and trains along with a retheme from Hot Wheels to a circa 1970s Gold Coast theme.

Feels like going back in time, thank you for uploading this . Brings back so many memories.

Surprised to see other people say this also scared them as a kid and don’t remember it. Me too. Because more than half the ride I had my head buried in my lap with my hands over my ears 😂 I wish I was older to enjoy this ride cause I do remember some of it and it was awesome.

Not to be confused with the ride at Hollywood studios at walt disney world

I was terrified of this ride as a kid, it was mainly those awful sounds the track made.

The Hot wheels sidewinder doesn’t exist any more in 2023 I will miss that ride😢

Very nice ride. I don’t know what the hell dreamworld is doing, they are seriously going backwards now removing all the top rides. Wipeout, buzz saw, tower of terror, avalanche, reef diver.

Shame shame. I think they closed it because no one knew how to maintain it. God damn it! 😪

As a local, I was there to witness the second and third one. Such legends. I saw them again at a monster jam show, about 3 years after Hollywood stunt driver 2 changed to inner city 500

1:26 - 1:28 the area is called NICKELODEON Central, but theres attractions based on DREAMWORKS properties who came AFTER Nickelodeon Central..., is this a joke or what? Edit: the names of the attractions in the marked time wasn't even from Nick Central, but from the posterior area called Kids Lane (Kids World is the area who substitued Rivertown and Gum Tree Gully)!

I was told by people who work there and deal with the day to day finances that yes the cost of maintenance had gone up tmdue to the exchange rate of the Australian dollar to overseas currencies making parts and freight triple in cost....a major component came from the exorbitant cost the electricity provider wanted to lock them in for on a yearly contract. Due to the lowering numbers of visitors, once again to the high cost of living here in Australia due to bad governments allowing inflation to soar....people just don't have money for holidays to the Gold Coast and theme park entry fee's anymore....and it's this drop in revenue plus the increasing costs from third party providers that has caused Village Roadshow to start to drop a lot of their theme park attractions at Dreamworld and concentrate on other theme parks and services. Covid of course and the lethal accident at Dreamworld a few years back has just compounded the financial problems that Village Roadshow is currently facing. I've also been told with the huge residential property developments and the giant Westfield's Group building a shopping complex there that the noise of the ride would be detrimental to the "attractiveness and sellability of the properties to future buyers". So in short it seems money and not safety is the driving factor behind what appears to be, the gradual and discreet shutting down of Dreamworld and I suspect, it'll be sold off to developers that'll probably turn it into high density housing.

This looked like so much fun... never got to go on it though 😢

I really thought movie park germany had one original ride ...

I remember riding this ride when I was 11. Oh it scared me, very creepy. To make it worse i remember watching the discovery channel back at the apartment in broad beach and there was a documentary about alien abductions. No wonder why i was traumatized the next few nights eeeck, still a amazing ride. What a shame it's gone. This ride and the gremlins ride at movie world were the scariest rides I've been on.
